Using Two Brake Controllers To Tow Trailer With Six Axles

Question:

I need to pull a mobile home w 6 axles. Any suggestions on a controller that can hold up and can carry that much amperage? I burn up p3s like little toys.

This is a tough one. we contacted our supplier and they said you will need to run 2 separate brake controllers like part # 90195.

You will need to split the brake signal from the towing vehicle and attach it to the red wire on each of the brake controllers. Then run both power wires from the controllers to the positive battery post with circuit breakers. Both brake controllers would have to be set exactly the same so you maintain even braking.

You will then need to run both Blue wires toward the back. One will run to the trailer harness that runs to 3 of the axles. You will then need to run the other controller Blue wire to a connector on the trailer that will then be attached to the remaining 3 axles brakes, or use a pin that is not being used on your trailer connector. You would then use the mating pin on the connector on the trailer and dedicate it to the three axles.

This will be a pretty involved wiring venture but this way both controllers will send the amperage to 3 axles. If you are towing just one trailer this would be a task that can be done fairly easily. If you tow more than one trailer that needs two brake controllers, you will have to change the wiring on each trailer to be able to use two controllers.

For additional Blue brake wire you can use part # 10-1-1.
