Question:

I have a 95 EZ-Loader trailer, will these fit my trailer? I measured the bolt pattern and came up with this hub, not sure if all axles are a universal fit though. any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

The easiest way to determine what hub assembly you will need for your axle is to get the part numbers of the inner and outer bearings and the grease seal part number from the hub assembly that is on the trailer now. If you do not have the old bearings, you will need to measure the spindle on your trailer to determine the size bearings that you will need, and what hub assembly will work. Trailer hub assemblies are not a universal fit.

You will also want to check the hub journal length on an E-Z Loader or Load-Rite trailer hub because they will usually use a hub assembly that is shorter than normal. They refer to it as a short hub. It will measure about 3 inches from back edge of the center hub casting to the front edge of the center hub casting. The normal length is 4-1/4 inches. If you have the short hub I do not have a hub assembly that will fit.

On the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-258BTUC1 that you have referenced, it is rated for a 2,000 lbs. axle and has a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches. The inner and outer bearings are the same part number # L44643 and the grease seal is # 34823. If these part numbers match what you have now, then this hub assembly will work on your trailer.

I also have the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-258-5UC1 which is also rated for a 2,000 lbs. axle and has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The difference is they use larger size bearings and a larger grease seal. The inner and outer bearings are # L44649 and the grease seal is # 10-9.

If your bearing part numbers are different from the part numbers I have mentioned, you can let me know the part numbers of your bearings and grease seal and I will be glad to help you find the correct hub assembly for your trailer. You will also want to verify the axle weight capacity and bolt pattern on your trailer.
