Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2019 Subaru Ascent

Question:

IS THERE A CUSTOM PLUG AND PLAY WIRING FOR MY NEW SUBARU ASCENT? THATS ALL I NEED, CORRECT? PLUG INTO CAR CONNECTOR AND PLUG INTO BRAKE CONTROLLER AND OF COURSE MOUNT CONTROLLER.

Yes, Tekonsha released the part # 3062-P which is a brake controller install harness that fits your 2019 Subaru Ascent and would work well. I attached a picture that shows where you'll find it on your vehicle too.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

2019 Subaru ascent I have a 4way I also have a 7way with no break control hooked up I break controller and the wires that got the 7way from control

@JonG is it better to take the 4way and install factory 7way

@KeithC I'm not quite sure what you mean. The factory 7-way would have been installed before purchasing the vehicle, so it's not really something that can be added after the fact. If it's an aftermarket 7-Way you'll just need to wire in the brake controller using the # 5506 Jon mentioned above.

@JonG my Ascent did not come from the factory with a trailer hitch, but it was added by the Subaru dealer when I purchased the Ascent. So would this be considered a factory hitch? Would I have the correct wiring in my car to use the factory style brake controller wiring?
