Weight of Curt Trailer Hitch part # C11430

Question:

How much does the hitch receiver itself weigh? I will have to take that into consideration. If the tow rating is 1,000 lbs for the Cobalt, and this thing weighs 100 lbs, my towing capabilities just shrunk to 900 lbs.

The weight of the Curt hitch part # C11430 is 23 lbs. You should also note that hitches and ball mounts don't factor into the towing capacity of a vehicle. The hitch basically becomes part of the vehicle's frame so it's weight would be not be on the trailer side of the equation.
