Will Installing Curt Hitch on a 2016 Volvo XC90 Interfere with Hands Free Liftgate Operation
Published 07/14/2016 >
Question:
The rear hatch on the 2016 XC90 has hands free opening capability, where you put your foot under the bumper and it opens the rear hatch of the vehicle automatically. Given the placement of the Curt hitch, does it interfere with this automatic opening capability?

No, the Curt trailer hitch # C13233 is not known to interfere with the sensors on your 2016 Volvo XC90. However, the position/angles of the sensors can vary from vehicle to vehicle so some people may have to trigger the sensors by kicking their foot off to the side instead of the normal place they are triggered.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And for trailer wiring you can use # 118683 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.
