Question:
To Whom It May Concern, I have a 2012 VW Touareg with the towing package but have yet to install a brake controller. I had a Tekonasha P2 in a previous vehicle Chevy Tahoe and would like to install it in the VW. however, Im not sure which wiring harness I need. The VW has a connector way up under the dash but not stumped off wires. Do you know which harness I need? Thanks,

To install the P2, part # 90885 brake controller in your Touareg you will need to do some hardwiring.
If you do not have a 4-way connector at the rear of your Touareg you will need to install a trailer wiring connector like part # 118668.
You will then need part # ETBC7 and attach it to the 4-way connector and complete some additional wiring as shown in the attached drawing.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
If you have a 7-way at the back of your VW and you wish to use the connector you have located under the dash you will have to get some parts from a Volkswagen dealership. I have attached a helpful article that explains what parts are needed and how to install a brake controller using the connector you found.
Many customers do not want to go through the process of purchasing additional parts and cutting and splicing them and just wind up purchasing a Prodigy RF Wireless Brake Controller, part # TK94FR. This plugs into a standard 12V outlet in the vehicle.
