Suggestions For Leveling Trailer With Weight Distribution System On New Truck

Updated 03/01/2016 | Published 02/28/2016

Question:

Hello, I just recently upgraded from a 1/2 truck to a 3/4 ton and I currently have A equalizer shank part 90-02-4400 that has a 14inch height top to bottom with a 9 inch max That I use with my eazlift weight distribution hitch.I have now lowered the head to the lowest setting on the shank but the front end of my trailer sits a little high by about 2inch , I see your part#C17125 would definitely get me the I need but the 20-7/8 height when hooked to my truck would only give me about 3-1/2inch of ground clearance before the bottom of the shank would hit the ground.Do you offer anything in between that I that I am not seeing on your site?

The ground clearance of 3-1/2 inches you said you would have with the # C17125 shank would be a problem and I would not recommend making that change.

You said you are about 2 inches too high with the # EQ90-02-4400 shank. Before you purchase a new shank you may want to try shifting some of the weight in the trailer forward. This would add a bit of tongue weight and may be enough to get it more level. You still want to make sure you do not exceed 15 percent weight for your tongue weight. Also make sure your trailer tires are inflated to the maximum psi.

Also, you want to check the trailer suspension to make sure it is working properly.
