Published 01/29/2016 >
Question:
I bought these in April 2015, and they have dry rotted already. They fit perfectly. The application is on a saltwater boat trailer. Any ideas how to make them last longer? You guys rock!

Expert Reply:
Saltwater is pretty corrosive by nature. It dry things out and causes metal to rust. Your best option would be to rinse the trailer down with fresh water as quickly as possible after removing it from the boat ramp so that you can limit the salt's exposure to the cap.
