Question:

I need the exact latch as pictured in the attached photo. This latch is approx 4 1/4 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. The locking bolt is 4 inches long. It fits flush with the front and rear of the door and unscrewed from the back plate and near the locking bolt.

The easiest way to find a replacement is find the dimensions of the hole that the latch sits it.The Flush Locking Stainless Steel Latch, part # L1833. The latch fits in a 2-3/4 inch by 3-3/4 inch hole and features an inside release. The larger # L3980 you referenced would mount into a 3-3/8 by 4-5/8 inch hole. It doesn't use an inside release, but you can easily add the # 4PLSP knob.

Unfortunately, I don't have any reference material that provides any part numbers or manufacturers for the original latch on your trailer.
