Dimensions And Operation Of Non-Locking Steel Flush Door Latch # N3980

Question:

How far from the edge does the hole need to be placed to allow latch to catch? I am looking to place on a 1/8inch trap door hinged from the top and latching on the bottom. Would this work with a welded lip to catch the latch upon release? Thanks

We have the Non-Locking Steel Flush Door Latch, part # N3980 in stock, but there are a few changes you need to be aware of. I have attached a couple photos that show the difference between the latch shown on our website and what we actually have.

I called our supplier and they said they were having a hard time getting the latches shown on our site. They used a different supplier for a short time and this is the result. They do not have a time line when the latches with the original design will be available.

This latch is designed to work in a similar manner as a standard door found in a home. The end of the latch bar would slide into a hold in the door jamb and when you pull the handle it causes the latch bar to slide outside of the door jamb hole and allow you to open the door.
