Question:
What does it cost to rewire the lights on a 20 foot cattle trailer
asked by: Becky
Expert Reply:
The cost to re-wire your 20-foot cattle trailer depends on the type and number of lights you choose to install. How many lights you legally need depends on the width of the trailer. A good place to start your project is the linked article on trailer lighting. This explains the lighting requirements based on the trailer's length, width and weight. We offer basic light kits like # TL29BK that are a cost-effective all-in-one option.
If your 20-foot trailer is less than 80-inches wide you are required to have the following lights and reflectors on it:
2 Stop/brake lights
2 Tail lights
2 Turn signals
2 Rear reflectors
1 License plate light
2 Rear side marker lights
2 Rear side reflectors
2 Front side marker lights
2 Front side marker reflectors
The linked page will let you review all of our trailer light and reflector products. LED type lights cost more up front but they spare you the hassle and expense of replacing bulbs. LEDs also use less power and generate less heat than standard incandescent lights. You can use the filters on the page to narrow the results based on your preferences. If you need primary wire to install your preferred lights we offer part # 12-1-1 sold by the foot. For a junction box to make the connections between the lights and the trailer harness you can use # 38656. You'll also need ring terminals like # DW05702-1 and also a trailer connector like # H20036.
