Can the B&W Companion Hitch Be Installed Over Truck Bed Mat

Question:
Can the companion fifth wheel hitch he installed and used in conjunction with a rubber bed mat, or is it best to remove the mat as well when towing?

Expert Reply:
You will want to remove the rubber mat when you are towing. In the instructions for the Companion Hitch, B&W states that if the truck bed has a removable bed liner or mat, it should be removed or cut to allow the base of the hitch to have direct contact with the bed.
If you do not want to remove the rubber mat when using the Companion, you can also cut the mat to allow the hitch to have direct contact with the truck bed.
