Compatibility of 1/2 Inch Bolts with Handle Nuts Used to Install Curt # C13130 on 2013 Acura RDX

Question:

Install question Acura RDX 2013 Received Curt 13130 2inch hitch, contains 2 different size bolts Directions indicate that the shorter bolts M12 1-1/4 , coarser threaded bolts go into the factory weld nuts, Is that correct ? I ask because the longer ones finer thread 1-1/2inch dont seem to thread into the provided handle nut but the coarser shorter ones do . thanks

I spoke with my contact at Curt Manufacturing, who confirms that the 12M bolt are indeed intended to fit the weldnuts, and the 1/2 inch bolts are a fit for the handle nuts. My contact suggested that you closely examine the threads on the inside of the handle nuts to make sure they're not damaged, same with the bolts. Try threading the bolts into the handle nuts before you put the handle nuts up into the frame to confirm fit, try both nuts with both bolts. When the handle nuts are up inside the frame, make sure the bottom (flat part) of the handle nut is sitting flat against the inside bottom of the frame. It it's not sitting flat and square, it would explain the difficulties you've been having. If you find that the hardware is damaged, please let me know and I'll have Curt send you replacements.
