Features to know about

Haul Gear and Bikes with Confidence: Class III Strength with 2" Receiver

This hitch gives you plenty of muscle for everyday use. With a 4,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 600 lbs tongue weight, it’s ready for small campers, boats, bike racks, or cargo trays. The 2" x 2" receiver opening makes it compatible with the most common towing and accessory mounts, so you can easily swap between a ball mount, cargo carrier, or bike rack without needing an adapter.

Handle Projects Yourself: Bolt-On Install with Included Hardware

Installing this hitch is straightforward. It bolts directly to the frame using factory mounting points, so there’s no drilling or welding required. The complete hardware kit and installation instructions come in the box, so you can get it mounted in your driveway with basic hand tools. The precision, robotic welding means everything lines up easily for a snug, solid fit.

Built to Last Through the Miles: Fully Welded Steel and Dual-Coat Finish

The hitch is made from powder coated steel for strength and corrosion resistance. A gloss black powder coat applied over a protective base layer seals out rust while giving the hitch a clean look under the bumper. The concealed cross tube design keeps most of the hitch hidden — only the receiver is visible — so you get a neat, factory-style finish that doesn’t stick out.

Ready When You Are: Standard Accessories Fit Right In

You can pair this setup with your favorite towing gear right away. Ball mount, pin, and clip are sold separately, but any standard Class III accessory will work. Whether you’re towing on weekends or carrying bikes to the trailhead, this hitch gives you reliable performance every time you need to haul something.

I followed the instructions on the e-trailer web site and installation was straight forward. It's a bit challenging for a single installer because of the weight of the hitch and trying to position and hold while threading the bolts. After a bit of maneuvering I was able to prop the hitch close to the final position using two jack stands. After that, threading and final installation wasn't difficult.

I only use the hitch very occasionally but both it and the wiring harness are working well with absolutely no problems.

Excellent service - Order tracking was the best and accurate. Provided the installation video and instructions - even I could install it.

I found the bike trailer hitch I needed etrailer after getting a ridiculous quote from a local Honda dealer ($800 for purchase and install !) After reviewing the installation instructions, decided this was DIY project I could handle and save hundreds of dollars. The product arrived exactly as advertised. With the assist of my sons, was able to get it installed in about 30 minutes. My wife said looks like a pro did it! Tested out the bike rack that I purchased, it fits up perfectly. I highly recommend the etrailer bike hitch and they will be my goto vendor for this type of product in the future.

ROI on this product has been incredible. I puchased a Thule bike rack after installing the hitch, its so simple to utilize the hitch. The hitch still looks great, my wife says she doesnt even notice it on back of car. Thanks again!

by:

Products came in a timely manner and the videos associated with each product explained everything. The videos and paperwork made the installation a breeze!

by:

Installation is Pretty straight forward, took me about 20-25 mins installing, i would imagine it will be a lot quicker to install with an extra set of hands but otherwise really happy with the result, very low profile no crazy brand names visible like the one they install at u-haul. Yup would definitely recommend

by:

Appears to be a solid product after a few days of use. I had it installed by a mechanic due to lack of proper tools, but the installation was as easy as described in the documentation. Well built, does the job and looks nice too.

by:

Thank you for honoring my requesting secured tightly to the box and preventing from damaged for three consecutive times: one from etrailer, two from NAPA.

I finally decided to gave etrailer second chances- this time William hearing my bad experiences.

by:

Perfect fit. Tech who installed it complimented you on good design and ease of installation. Bike rack fits perfectly.

by:

Quick to arrive and easy to install.

by:

Product installed perfectly!
Installation
instructions were very clear.
Wished I had ordered the accompanying wiring harness and hitch cover.

by:

Not enough stars to rate. I needed the hitch by end of the week. Ordered it on Monday and it came on Wednesday. Super fast, instructions super clear, and all items needed were there. If I ever need hitch and accessories, I will not hesitate to use etrailer. Fantastic!

Heavy-duty solidly built bike hitch. Holes lined up just right to frame of my SUV (2015 RDX). Took me (a senior) about 35 mins to install, I just followed instruction sheet and UTube video. Now I just have to decide on a bike carrier.

by:

Perfect fit for my 2015 RDX. Excellent packing and quality product. Installed easily thanks to instructions and video. Only issue was tack weld securing nut to handle was defective. One was not lined up properly to allow bolt to enter and the other just fell off. This required a little MacGyvering with a glue gun and additional lock washer.

by:

Great price, exactly as expected. From order to delivery was 48 hours! Really hard to beat! I’m very impressed and satisfied.

by:

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2016 Acura RDX arrived in excellent condition and was quite easy to install. The instructions that came with the Receiver were easy to follow but I did have a problem. The handle nut stripped out while tightening torque specs. I have a Craftsman Commercial Micro Adjusting Torque Control Wrench. I called eTrailer and they assured me that the torque specifications in the instructions were correct. Based on their assurance, I can only conclude that my torque control wrench is not calibrated correctly and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver deserves 5 stars.

Acura RDX 2013 -hitch self install ~45 minutes

1) Make sure you have the 19mm socket , extender 6" or longer adapter and calibrated torque wrench. The location of the bolts is a bit finicky in the rdx and these tools help a ton if you are doing it by yourself

2) Especially if you are doing it yourself get some zip ties very long ones from home depot to hold the hitch in place temporarily (double the zip ties at each location so it doesn't snap). This thing is quite heavy and suggest you do it carefully and take the time to gently raise the hitch with some support boxes (have to do it at an angle and slide the hitch into place to align with the bolt holes due to the bumper on the way). Some have mentioned to bend the bumper , but I did not do that. raising the hitch carefully at an angle and sliding into place to align with the bolt terminals then zip tie and start to secure with the supplied bolts

3) And oh the washer has a teeths which needs to face towards the hitch .THIS is IMPORTANT

Overall looks excellent very clean finish , I am curious to know how corrosion resistant the assembly is over time ...
Thanks to folks at etrailer for excellent communication and the website layout is helpful to find recommendations and accessories

This is an outstanding, high-quality hitch. Extremely well made. And it fit my vehicle perfectly. Plus, it wasn't hard to install. This hitch isn't the only thing that I'm very pleased about - etrailer treated me really right with this purchase: the hitch I initially received was damaged in shipment. I contacted etrailer about the damage and their customer service reps immediately sent me a replacement hitch as well as a pre-paid shipping label to return the damaged hitch. I can testify to etrailer's commitment to treating their customers fairly and making things right when there are issues. I highly recommend etrailer and encourage you to do business with them - they are a first-rate company worthy of your trust.

by:

Prefect fit and Solid heavy built, comes with required nuts and bolts and precise instructions. Was able to install myself with the instruction videos provided on the website. Had tough time cleaning the rust from the frame screw holes. Would strongly recommend the additional tools and accessories suggested on the website, these included the rust cleaning brush and liquid.

Received my hitch in less than a week. One end had broken thru the box but there was no damage. This is a really nice quality product.
Installation tips. Get the back of the car high. I used my ramps. The hitch has to be rotated up into place. A little awkward for one person so I had my son help. Took about 5 minutes to install.
I'm pleased.

Now that I’ve had the opportunity to use my hitch I do have a comment. Keep in mind that my comments most likely apply only to my vehicle, a 2017 Acura RDX. The hitch sits low and too far forward. It was almost impossible to install the hitch pin without laying on the ground under the back of the car. I believe it is designed that way to make the hitch less visually intrusive. Also if it were higher, the rear valance on the car may have to be cut. I bought a hitch extender which also lifted the receiver a few inches. This works out much better.

Thanks for the follow up Rich, I did want to let you know that most hitch extenders do reduce the towing capacity of the hitch by up to 50 percent.

Just leased new Acura RDX and wanted to install a hitch and bike rack. E=Trailer's web site and customer service (Christine) were top notch. I loved the personal attention and the You Tube videos on how to install the hitch. It took me about an hour but I was able to get underneath the car and follow the instructions. The handle nuts are the key to holding this hitch in place. It helps to bend them for easier access. Once you do that, it's a snap.

I stand by my original review. Still enjoying the hitch and bike rack. Thanks for checking in.

The Acura dealership charges $750 for a trailer hitch installed. I was hesitant to buy my own hitch for installation because I thought something that expensive must be really hard to do. NOT AT ALL! Thank-you etrailer.com for the video that gave me the confidence to install this on my 2015 RDX. Written Instructions were easy to follow. Took about 30 minutes to unbox, install, and breakdown the box it was shipped in. Once installed, this hitch is almost undetectable (looks great). I am a 42-year-old woman and did need my husband’s help to hold the hitch in place while I tightened the bolts. I purchased this hitch for use with a bike rack and it looks and works great!!

A year later and I have no update other than to say all is well and works just as great as the day I installed it! Only smiles here...no regrets on this purchase!

by:

I have had this hitch now for 5yrs and it works like a champ. The only reason I gave 4-stars instead of 5 is because the RDX itself is only rated for 1500lb/150lb TW despite an engine that produces a solid 279hp/252ft-lb. I’m assuming the limitations have more to do with the car suspension as it is basically a CR-V with a better motor and the CR-V is based off the Civic.

I purchased this hitch hoping it would be sufficient for my motorcycle ramp which with a bike loaded is anywhere from 450-550lb which the 600lb TW of the hitch can handle but the one time I was stupid enough to load my “heavy” touring bike on it I nearly learned a horrible lesson. I have since installed a trans oil cooler which I hope increases the towing capacity to 2000lb and is sufficient for a U-Haul trailer and 1, possibly 2 bikes. The one time I hauled 2 it was before the oil cooler and I got a trans temp warning.

Hey Neighbor! Just wanted to reach out real quick to let you know that even if you get an aftermarket transmission cooler, it may improve your Acuras performance but no aftermarket addition to your vehicle will increase its towing capacity. You will want to check your owners manual and see what that is. The rule of thumb is to go with the smallest capacity whether that is the TW on the hitch, or your car. Just wanted to let you know to be safe!

by:

Had it installed by a professional which took about two hours. The shop liked that it was a product they recommend as a sturdy, reliable hitch...

Works good, had a hard time getting it installed but it was because the bolt holes were covered in 10 years of road grime. Cleaned them out with a metal wire brush and it went on just fine. Works great.

It's amazing how much road grime can build up over the years and turn a simple installation into a challenge. Glad you were able to get the bolt holes cleaned out and get everything mounted up without any further issues!

by:

An easy four bolt installation, but it was snug! We had to pull the bumper trim out to get the first bolts started and we used a floor jack to help support the weight while we did that. We were able to do the whole installation on the ground without ramps or having to lift the car. The bike rack we bought the receiver for fits very nicely with a good close fit when it is folded up. Well worth the cost and even going slowly it only took about 30 minutes from start to finish.I have been very pleased with the Curt brand receivers and eTrailer over the years. I believe this is our seventh one over the past 10 or 12 years.
