Can the Spring Perches of Trailer Axles Get Moved
Updated 09/09/2015 | Published 09/08/2015 >
Question:
Hi, I am considering the following axle to replace the axle on my trailer, T3584F-8974-EZ Dexter Replacement Axle Beam - Easy Lube - 89inch Hub Face - 74inch Spring Center - 3,500 lbs. The question I have is, what happens to the weight capacity if the spring perches are moved inward as my trailer has a spring center to center of about 66? Does this compromise the integrity of the axle or is this OK to do?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Moving the spring perches on the trailer axle part # T3584F-EZ-8974 that you referenced wouldn't affect the weight capacity of the axle. Especially since you aren't moving them that far.
I attached an install video for this axle for you to check out as well.
