To install the part # 118554 on your vehicle and have it only be active when the vehicle is on will require an isolation solenoid # PK5231201 on the power wire that runs to the battery. The center pin on the solenoid would get run to a circuit that only sees voltage when the vehicle is running like the radio or ignition circuit. When installed this way the solenoid will only complete the circuit for the trailer wiring when the vehicle is running.
One side of the solenoid would run to the positive terminal of your battery and the other side would connect to the power wire of the # 118554.
