Question:
My truck came with flat 4 pin trailer connector with class 3 hitch not factory. i bought my RV recently and it only takes 7 pin connector. so I bought a generic 4 pin to 7 pin adaptor and only hooked up the 4 pin + white ground to chassis so only the lights are working on the RV. My RV is only 18 ft and weight less than 2500 lbs, single axle. recently I noticed the brake on FJ is suffering when I am applying brake around town coming to red light and on highway emergency stops. So I want the minimal wiring work and something I can take off when I am not towing. This product came to my mind thanks to forum member for the recommendation, now I have a questions. currently since I only hooked up white ground and 4 pin, 3 of the remaining wires are hanging free in the back by the connector. which wires do I have to finish connecting in order to make this product work? do I have to connect anything to my current brake wire? the control box has to be mounted to certain way? certain degrees..etc Thanks, and looking forward to purchasing one soon!

The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller, part # TK94FR will work great for the trailer you want to tow behind your FJ Cruiser.
You have 3 wires at the back of the 7-way adapter you connected to your 4-way so you will need to connect the wire that is for the 12V power. I have attached a photo that shows which position on the connector this wire is in. You can use part # 10-1-1 to connect to that pin and run it to your positive post on your vehicle battery. You want to make sure you avoid hot exhaust and moving parts when running this wire to the front of your vehicle. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to run this wire you can check out.
The remaining 2 wires are a brake wire and an auxiliary 12v power and they can simply be taped off and moved out of the way.
