Question:
Hi! Im looking to buy a bike rack for my 2011 Kia Sorento to haul 3-4 bikes. 2-3 of the bikes will be kids bikes. I am a single mom on a limited budget so I need a rack and hitch for my KIA for under $500 if possible. Also, I am only 51 so I would need something that I could handle on my own. What would u suggest as for the bike rack and hitch. The hitch needs to be a bolt on and not require drilling my brother will install for me. I appreciate any help And suggestions.

I will be happy to help you out. First, for a trailer hitch, since you want to carry 3 to 4 bikes I recommend going with the sturdier Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver because of the strength and versatility. Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75684 fits that description perfectly. Drilling is not required for installation. I have linked a video showing installation for you.
For a bike rack the Hitching Post Pro, # TH934XTR, is a great option and I recommend it for someone who wants a rack with great features (tilting mast and arms, anti-sway cradles) but is on a budget. But with a hanging bike rack, depending on the design of some of the bikes (bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) or that are very small), you may find that you will need an adapter bar, such as # 64005, to be able to carry certain bikes. I have included a link to a video showing how the adapter works.
Another option is to go with a platform style bike rack. The Runway, # MAL82VR, is the most budget friendly 4-bike platform rack we carry. It holds the bikes at the wheels and frame. I have linked a video review for you. Platform racks are heavier than hanging racks and if the kids bikes are very small, less than 24 inch size, they may not fit.
