Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with Spare Tire Under Vehicle
Question:
2011 HYUNDAI SANTA FE: Aside from the mentioned cutting of the fascia, does either of the two hitches, Curt or Draw Tite, allow the spare tire more room for easier removal? Also, how can I determine if vehicle came with tow ready wiring or not? thanks

Both the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C13073 and Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75684 are confirmed to fit your 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe as long as it does not have the dual exhaust. Because of its cross tube design, the Curt Class III # C13073 is going to allow for easier access to the spare tire mounted under the vehicle. I have attached a couple of images so you can better see the comparison between the two hitches.
The Curt Hitch is a great option for your Santa Fe and will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and a 3,500 pound towing capacity. I have also attached an installation video on your vehicle that you can use for reference. Please just note that Curt does require the use of stabilizing straps like # 18050 with non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo carriers.
The contents that comprise a factory tow package can differ greatly between manufacturers and vehicle models. Because of this, the easiest and most accurate way to determine if your Santa Fe has the factory tow package is to simply visit your local Hyundai dealer with your VIN. They will be able to run this and tell you exactly what was installed at the factory and what your vehicle is equipped with.
If you find that you do not have the tow package, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118415. This custom-fit harness will connect to built-in ports located behind the trim panels on the driver and passenger side of your vehicle. If you do have the tow package, you will instead want the Curt T-Connector # C56346, which will plug in under the vehicle on the driver side.
In order to tow a trailer, you will also need a ball mount. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the best one for your trailer, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
