Trailer Suspension Equalizer Tilted Up At one End

Question:
I have a car trailer with the springs flipping on the equalizer. Not sure what the problem is. I have heard several things it could be. The shackles are worn and going to replace them. They are 3500 lb axles. Also the tires seem to be very close to the fenders. They have not always been that way. I have had to bend them at times to get them to clear because they are rubbing on the tires. I haul random amounts so I was not sure about bumping up the spring size to possibly give me more clearance. Attached is a picture. Thanks for any info.

The suspension in general on your trailer looks very worn. I would replace as much as I could on it to get it back to good working order. The problem with the equalizer cocked to one side like that can happen sometimes. It usually fixes itself when a load is put on the trailer.
What I recommend though is to jack up the trailer and use a pry bar to get the leaf spring end up above the equalizer so the equalizer is straight and then let the trailer back down.
Regarding the tires being closer to the trailer that could be due to worn suspension components, especially if it is only happening on one side of the trailer or if it is happening at the front tire on one side and the rear tire on the other side. It could also mean that the bearings needs to be replaced.
When inspecting the suspension look for obvious worn parts but also any mounting holes that are egg-shaped. This indicates excessive wear and can cause all sorts of problems with the suspension, tire wear, and ride quality.
