Question:
Ive chosen 4 products to buy and want a customer service representative to audit my options to make sure it all will work for my application. Im planning to tow my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS Manual Transmission behind my Class A motorhome with Hydraulic brakes and separate turn signal circuits. Im a competant enough to install these items and realize the high level of complexity. I just want to be sure that Im getting what i need. Ive towed a 3,000 lbs trailer without brakes and barely noticed a difference in braking performance in the coach, so I would be comfortable without the supplemental brakeing system if you think its overkill for this little car. Part #s : BX2331 BX7380 BX8848 SM99251 Thank you so much,

To flat-tow your Hyundai Elantra behind your motorhome you will need 5 items. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the Elantra, and most states now require a supplemental brake system.
If your Elantra is not a GT the Blue Ox base plates, part # BX2331 would work well. The tow bar that would also work well is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar, part # BX7380. This tow bar is designed with a motor home mount and will work well with the BX2331 base plates. This tow bar comes with the safety cables included.
If you are planning on towing your Elantra a lot I recommend the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit With Bulbs, part # RM-155. This system bypasses your Elantra's electrical system by routing the wiring under the vehicle and installing the plugs and sockets inside the tail light housing.
If you will only be towing the Elantra occasionally I recommend a magnetic light kit like part # TLL21RK. The wiring harness for these lights runs under the towed vehicle which means no splicing or tapping into the vehicle wiring.
The Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit, part # BX8848 you referenced is only part of the system you would need for lighting. It would also require either part # BX8862 or part # BX8861 to complete the wiring.
We have several supplemental brake systems that would work for you. The SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, part # SM99251 is a vacuum assisted system that never has to be removed once it is installed. This system is activated when the brake lights on your motorhome go on and the sensor in the Elantra detects deceleration. This system comes with a breakaway switch included.
Another one of our supplemental brake systems that is very popular you can check out is the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400. This system is portable and easy to set up.
I have attached some helpful articles and also some installation videos you may want to take a look at.
