Question:
Hello, I have a trailer that I need a new wiring harness for. It needs to be one that will run electric brakes. The vehicle that I pull the trailer with is a Chevy 3500. Do you have any recommendations for a wiring harness?

Helpful Expert Reply:
I recommend the Hopkins 7-way molded trailer wire connector # H20044. It will measure 6-feet long and provide you the functions required for your electric brakes. If you prefer a longer connector, the same item is available in an 8 foot length as part # H20036 or an 11 foot length as part # HM20048.
Please note that the color codes on these molded connectors are different from those usually found on a trailer. The wiring code is on each of the product pages.
If you don't have some already, I highly recommend using dielectric grease part # 11755 to help prevent corrosion from water exposure.
A junction box such as # 38656 would be worth getting because it will provide an easy way to connect the wires from your trailer connector to the wiring.
I've added a few videos and a helpful article for you too.
