Troubleshooting Tow Bar Wiring, Toad Vehicle Left Turn/Stop Not Functioning

Question:

left turn signal and brake light do not work on toad. Using seperate wiring and bulb avoiding tying into toad wiring. Worked fine for a year. Also noticed that left brake light on rig doesnt work but turn signal and running lights work. The toad running light works fine on left. Help Mr. Wizard.

It sounds like the problem is the ground of the left stop/turn light you have on your RV. If this circuit has a weak ground or signal it will prevent the toad's taillight from functioning as well. Check the circuit on your tow vehicle for a weak ground or possible shorts and fix as necessary.

Once you get the tow vehicle's taillights working again the toad vehicle's should work again. Check all connections between the tow bar lighting and the factory taillight circuits on the tow vehicle as well.

Next place to check will be the grounds of the left turn signal on the toad vehicle.
