Question:

Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit Item # DM9519326 You show this base plate is for a 2018 Chevy Spark but Demco says they can not confirm it for the 2018 only the 2017. Please confirm this will work on my 2018 Chevy Spark. Thank you

All of the base plates from other manufacturers, Roadmaster and Blue Ox, carry forward from the 2017 to the 2018 Chevy Spark so we can glean from that information that the Demco base plates # DM9519326 will also fit. Please note this fit is for models with a manual transmission and without active air shutters.

For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Commander # DM9511012. This is a non-binding tow bar which means that you won't have to be perfectly straight or level to hook up or unhook from the RV. That means you won't have to fight with a bound up tow bar and can instead enjoy your trip. The tow bar also comes with safety cables.

For lighting you can use a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120. Or for a more permanent solution use LED bulb and socket kit # RM-152-LED.

You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I have linked a help article showing how to measure and a link to the high/low adapters we carry.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers and what I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
