Question:

I have a now discontinued Roadmaster Blackhawk tow bar. I recently got a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I would like to flat tow using this tow bar. What base plate would you recommend to use with this tow bar for this Jeep?

We offer two Roadmaster Base Plate Kits for your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and both can be seen using the link provided at right. These two base plates, EZ5 kit # RM-521448-5 and EZ4 kit # RM-521448-4, share removable twist-lock draw bars and both are excluded from use on the 10th Anniversary Rubicon or Call of Duty editions.

I checked with my technical contact at Roadmaster regarding compatibility with your original Blackhawk tow bar. For this tow bar you can use either of these base plate kits, part # RM-521448-4 or part # RM-521448-5. These kits fit the 2015 Wrangler Unlimited so long as it does not have aftermarket bumpers, winches or guards. The difference between the kits is that the EZ4 uses twist-lock drawbars while the EZ5 uses drawbars held in place by pins.

Safe and legal flat towing requires a number of other components besides the tow bar and base plates. The linked article will give you details on these other items, which include safety cables, a wiring/lighting kit and a supplementary braking system.
