The plug was missing the set screw and collar that compresses on the cable to prevent strain on the connectors when removing the plug. You can see the set screw clearly in the product picture.

I like this style of plug because it is molded and is important in keeping water out of the plug. It is conveint because it has the right colored wires. I have a water tight termination box with studs that it is wired into. Once I damaged the cable so I opened up the terminal box installed eyelet lugs on the spare pigtail, and installed it in a fiew minuets. I keep a spare on hand with lugs on it so if I have an accident I can quickly replace it. I also use these on some of my smaller tow behind equipment. that's why I like this size plug it isn't real bulky.

Built a new trailer to haul my bobcat mini track loader, all products purchased from Etrailer worked great, no problems

by:

This is not a molded connector as advertised. It is a replacement 6way connector attached to 8ft of cable, and would cost less to build buying the parts separately! The Bargman #50-61-108 is a true molded connector if that's what you're looking for.

by:

Product was much better than I expected. Top quality at a reasonable price and fast delivery too. I recommend etrailer to anybody looking for quality, helpful assistance, selection and availability of trailer parts and accessories.
Thanks etrailer!!

by:

Excellent customer service! Ordering the products on line was easy and the instruction videos and installation tips were very helpful. I received my order as promised and every thing I ordered was packaged and shipped professionally.

I will definitely return to etrailer for any future purchases. Also the quality of products was excellent and the price was a lot cheaper than anywhere else I shopped, even with shipping cost.

by:

The range of products available at etrailer is great. I know I can find anything I need for trailers and towing on their site and at a competitive price. If the item I'm working on is complicated, they have YouTubes available showing how to install the product. I receive the items I order quickly and they are always complete. Their site makes it easy to tell what I need and what I'm getting.

by:

This is a great deal. It will replace a double cable with a molded cable with all wires in one. I am also adding a connector box , which will make a much neater connection rather than splicing the wires. Thanks for all the help.

  • 7-Way Recommendation for Trailer to Install Reverse Light Circuit
Since you have a 7-way on your 2007 Toyota Tundra the best solution is going to be to replace the connector on your trailer with a matching 7-way like part # H20046 and then run the yellow wire of the 7-way to the reverse lights. Whenever possible we try to avoid adapters as they end up being just another component that can potentially cause a problem. The simpler the approach to wiring the better.

  • Installing 7-Way Trailer Plug on Trailer with Electric Brakes
I recommend the Hopkins 7-way molded trailer wire connector # H20044. It will measure 6-feet long and provide you the functions required for your electric brakes. If you prefer a longer connector, the same item is available in an 8 foot length as part # H20036 or an 11 foot length as part # HM20048. Please note that the color codes on these molded connectors are different from those usually found on a trailer. The wiring code is on each of the product pages. If you don't have some already,...

For your application I recommend checking out the Hopkins 6-Way Connector # H20036. You'll want to make your connections with 16-14 Gauge # DW05744-5 and 12-10 Gauge # DW05745-5 heat shrink butt connectors since the heat shrink will protect your connections better than a standard butt connector. We do have a variety of grommets you can use to clean up the look of your trailer as well. Attached is a link to our selection of rubber grommets for you to filter through. If you let me know what...

  • Powering Horse Trailer Lights w/ and w/out a Battery
I have a solution for you but the only way to power accessory lighting in your trailer through a 12v is to use an adapter like the Pollak 7-Way to 12 Volt Power Outlet Adapter item # PK11896. It sounds like you already have one of these. This will turn your 7-way connector into a 12v power source. Once you have a 12v connector on your 7-way you will want to purchase an adapter that has two male 12v ends. There isn't a 7-way trailer connector to a 12v male connector adapter. The reason there...

We do have the Hopkins Heavy-Duty Trailer Coiled Extension # HM47055 that is also 8' long when stretched like the Hopkins 6-Way Connector with Jacketed Cable # H20036 that you found. The coiled cable will help to prevent the excess cord from dragging on the ground. If you prefer the straight cable you will simply need to attach the other 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector # PK11604 on the end of the Hopkins cable. I have included a video linked below that will walk you through...

  • Converting 4-Pole Flat Connector on Honda Odyssey to 6-Way Square Connector on Pop-Up Camper
The adapter you were looking at, part # 30104 will work with Jayco campers only. An adapter like this would only provide directionals as well as brake and running lights for the camper. If you only need the lighting circuits functional on your trailer, you can simply remove the existing 6-way and install a 4-way trailer end, part # 18004. If your camper has electric brakes, and you want them to actuate, you will need to install a brake controller as well as an upgraded trailer connector...

  • Troubleshooting 6-Way to 7-Way Wiring on Horse Trailer
Based on the colors you have it sounds like your 6-way wiring is similar to the Hopkins 6-Way Connector with Jacketed Cable - Trailer End - 8' Long # H20036. In this instance the red wire is going to be your brake power. On a typical 7-way the blue wire would be the brake power/brake controller wire. Realistically since there is no wiring standard I would recommend tracing your wire back to the brakes or other functions to make sure you have the wires installed correctly on your 7-way...

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector, Junction Box, and LED Lights to a Trailer
I think adding a 7-Way and a junction box and not to mention LED lights are great ideas! If you are going to replace all of those items, you may as well go the all out and replace all of the trailer wiring as well. Starting with a trailer side 7-Way connector you can use # H20042 which is 3 feet long. It doesn't have to be long though because it is going to the junction box. Speaking of junction boxes you can use # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it can be wired up and a...

You can separate those by using Converter # C56196. Wishbone wiring refers to the running light (brown wire) circuit of the part # A25W5B that you referenced. The circuit has two wires running from the pin because this circuit get run to both sides of your trailer's wiring. If you need a 6-way round connector you would instead need the part # H20036. This is a 6-way round connector with an 8 foot lead on it.

  • Troubleshooting Gooseneck Trailer that Brakes Lock Up when Wiring is Connected
Sounds like you have a 6-way connector since you said gooseneck hitch and that is the most common connector used with them. What is going on is that there is two different ways the 6-ways can be wired. Only difference is that the 12 volt accessory circuit and the brake output circuit are switched. So when you use the wrong wiring setup you end up with the brakes locking up all the time. So basically you just have to switch the two circuits and it'll work fine again.

Likewise for a 5-way wiring harness use # A40W5B. For a 6-way, I recommend using a junction box like # 38656 with Connector and Lead Wire # H20036 For a 7-way, I recommend # HS381-9000. • Trailer Wiring Harness with Circuit Protection Recommendation for a 2001 Dodge Dakota
Splicing in a trailer wiring harness is a pretty common practice even though almost all vehicle manufacturers do not recommend doing so. This is because trailer lights will put an additional load on the tail light circuits that vehicle manufacturers usually do not account for. The more lights a trailer has, the larger the load on the tail light circuits. Standard lighting on a trailer usually consists of two tail lights, two brake lights, two turn signals and two side marker lights. Many...

  • Replacing a 6-Way Trailer Connector on a Rockwood XL 1280 Pop Up Trailer
It sounds to me like the previous owner did not wire his home made trailer connector properly. If the trailer came with a 6-way connector, then that means there are two additional wires coming from the 6-way connector for the trailer brakes and, most likely, an auxiliary power source. If you are not worried about supplying power to the trailer brakes or auxiliary power source, then I would first recommend checking your local laws to see if brakes are required on your trailer. Some states...

It'll plug right in to your 6-way on your RV. If you sometimes tow the boat with a different vehicle and need to keep its 5-way then you can add a 6-way and have two connectors on it. The 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20042 and Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20400 will also work for you; I also recommend using Ring Terminals # 44-5310A to fasten your wires.
