This is an excellent product and simple to install. As long as you have a functioning plug-in on your vehicle you’ll be happy.
Time will tell how well it holds up to water and vibration

I’ve since pulled my boat to the lake with the trailer that I installed this lighting harness on. I unplug the lights before I back down the boat ramp to assure I don’t short out the system. Other than that I am still satisfied and would recommend these to anyone. Simple to install

Put these on an old boat trailer. Came out great. I got some white 16 gage stranded wire to carry the ground out to each mounting place. Helps the lights stay on even when stuff gets rusty.

I wanted the LED trailer light set, however it was out of stock and eTrailer offered this as a lower priced substitute. It serves the purpose and bulb grease has kept the bulbs working, occasionally, since I have not used the trailer very often.

by:

The lights were just what I needed.Came with wire connections and even a new tag holder. fast shipping

by:

It took forever to get the parts I had ordered. And after speaking with someone to ensure the parts would match, I still received spindles and hubs that would not fit. I tried to call and email and got no response.

by:

Ordered this with two new fenders for our Roadmaster RM3477 Tow Dolly. Both fenders had been destroyed due to blowouts. Replacing the fenders was easy and this wiring package made the lighting installation a snap. Highly recommended!

by:

Only put Excellent cause right item arrived and will be installing soon but they definitely the item ordered. Thank you

Seems to be good quality. Just installed them to replace some poor rigging by the person who owned the trailer previously.
I will change the nuts to neoprene locknut. I like they are made in the USA
Thanks

by:

Very happy with this purchase. Was easy to put on the trailer and works like a charm

by:

Fair product. Gauge of the wire should be heavier.

by:

Trailer needed new lights. This kit was really easy to install and works as described.

So overall I would recommend these! The product seems a little bit like "you get what you pay for." They don't seem to be of the highest quality but for the price, getting submersible trailer lights that are down and dirty and work, they seem great.
They are on my 4X8 utility trailer and they were easy to wire and install. They do come with wire nuts to make the wire connections and I replaced them with inline waterproof wire connectors but the wire nuts would have worked just fine. Again, overall, the kit had everything you would need to make these lights work.

Comments
Thank you for your review. It sounds like you have a classic ground issue. These particular lights ground through the mounting studs so make sure they are attached to a clean bare metal surface.

Bought these lights to mount on Hollywood e-bike rack because cover for bikes doesn’t allow tail lights on vehicle to shine through properly Ordered these and received product very fast considering Christmas and Covid backups Have not installed them yet but I know they will be a great fit Plenty of time to get everything mounted for our trip from Ny to Florida in February Thanks again etrailer

by:

Very easy product to install everything worked just fine and continues to work very well. Would buy this product again.

by:

Rewired my 8x4 bed trailer, and chose these fo mo betta rain proof. EZ wiring, they're working fine!

Comments
Ok, had an issue with the bulb socket for brake and turn signal. Those socket designs date back to the stone age. Hard to set the bulb for proper electrical contact. Badly needs an updated design.

Absolutely fastest shipping. Excellent quality and easy install. Used old wires to feed through frame and only took a couple of hours. Thanks for great merchandise.

  • Difference Between Trailer Taillight Kits that are for Over 80 inches in Width and Under 80 inches
There are different taillight requirements for trailers that are over 80 inches in width vs. ones that aren't over 80 inches in width. If you check out the link I attached you will see all of these differenced highlighted. The over 80 inch kits like the part # TL16RK typically come with additional clearance lights when compared to the under 80 kits like the # TL5RK. I attached review videos for both kits for you to check out.

  • How do Tail Lights in Submersible Trailer Tail Light Kit Secure to Trailer
The Submersible, Under 80" Trailer Light Kit with 25' Wiring Harness # TL5RK has mounting studs, nuts included, that are 2 inches on center for mounting to a metal mounting bracket. The bracket must be attached securely to the trailer frame because the lights in this kit get their ground connection through the mounting studs. I have included an installation video and a video review of this light kit for you to check out as well.

  • How to the Lights in Trailer Light Kit TL5RK Ground to the Trailer
The lights included with light kit # TL5RK ground through the mounting studs. The light grounds should also be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt the ground. Running jumper wires from the light grounds to the main trailer connector ground can help. It does sound like a weak ground connection....

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights that All Come On When Key Is Turned On
The issue you are having is the circuit you chose to power the running lights circuit of your trailer 7-way. If that circuit sees voltage when the key is turned on and your trailer is connected then all of the trailer lights will illuminate when the key is turned on. You need to find a circuit that only sees voltage when the running lights/head lights are on to run to the brown wire. The running light circuit of your truck should work well. • Clearance Lights in Trailer Wiring Kit # TL5RK Do Not Light Up on a 1983 Southwind RV
If the wiring leading to the clearance lights in the trailer light kit, # TL5RK, have power but the lights do not light up, there could be a couple of problems. First, you are going to want to check the ground connection. These lights ground through a mounting stud. Make sure that they are attached to a bare metal surface that is not painted and that there is no dirt or corrosion. • All Trailer Lights Blink When Truck Headlights and Turn Signals are Turned On
The wiring harness on the trailer side is what is called a wishbone harness. It splits the running light signal so that you do not have to run a jumper wire from one side to the other. The yellow/brown wire is for the left side running lights and the green/brown is for the right side running lights. That could be what the problem is if you wired it differently. Make sure that the trailer lights are grounded to a clean and corrosion free location of the trailer frame. Also check to make...

  • Type of Wiring Harness that Comes with the Optronics Submersible Trailer Light Kit # TL5RK
The wiring harness that comes with the Optronics Submersible Trailer Light Kit, # TL5RK, is a wishbone wiring harness meaning there are 5 wires coming out of the back of the 4-pole flat connector. You will have one white wire for the ground, one yellow wire for the left turn and brake signals, one green wire for the right turn and brake signals and two brown wires for the tail lights. The reason there are two brown wires for the tail lights is to make it easier for you to run the wires...

  • Trailer Right Rear Tail Light Only Works Sometimes
I believe that you are experiencing a ground problem, which can cause all sorts of weirdness. There are a couple of usual suspects that you can investigate to get to the source of the problem. The lights with tail light kit # TL5RK ground through the mounting studs. Make sure those are also attached to clean metal...

  • Can Trailer Tail Light Kits with a 4-Way Connector be Used on a Trailer with a 6-Way Connector
You can use a trailer wiring kit like # TL5RK but to connect it to the trailer side 6-Way you would need to cut off the 4-Way end and attach the wires to 6-Way connector. The wiring color/functions on this wiring kit are white is ground, brown is tail lights, yellow is left turn and brake, green is right turn and brake. Just connect the wires to your 6-Way by function and you will be set.

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a Trailer Less than 80 inches Towed by a 1992 Ford Explorer
The Optronics Trailer Light kit # TL5RK that you referenced would be an excellent choice for you and would work very well on your trailer towed by your 1992 Ford Explorer with the only exception is that the wiring is 18 gauge instead of 16 gauge like you said you preferred. I can assure you though that this wiring kit will work well for you and the amperage draw would not be too much for the wiring.

Yes, it seems like you have a ground problem on the trailer. I would start by checking the ground wire at the trailer coupler and making sure it is connected to a solid clean paint free spot on the coupler of frame. Then I would check the tail light assemblies. Tail lights are usually grounded through their connection to the trailer frame. It sounds like there is a short that is causing an overload situation that is in turn causing the fuse to blow. The problem could be in a number of places, but I would start by checking the grounds on the trailer and on the truck. The ground for the trailer side plug should be attached to a clean, corrosion and paint free bare metal surface on the trailer frame. The lights ground through the mounting studs. They, too should be free of corrosion, dirt, and attached to a bare metal surface. If...
