Put these on an old boat trailer. Came out great. I got some white 16 gage stranded wire to carry the ground out to each mounting place. Helps the lights stay on even when stuff gets rusty.

Rewired my 8x4 bed trailer, and chose these fo mo betta rain proof. EZ wiring, they're working fine!

Comments
Ok, had an issue with the bulb socket for brake and turn signal. Those socket designs date back to the stone age. Hard to set the bulb for proper electrical contact. Badly needs an updated design.

Just received the lighting system for my utility trailer. The current lights have been damaged and do no longer work. The new submersible lights look to be well made and the submersible feature will be appreciated as I live near Seattle and it's not uncommon to have an inch of rain in a day, several days of the year. And somewhat less rain most other days of the year. (ha ha) I found the web site at etrailer to be very easy to use and they kept me informed through the short process. The order was delivered in just a couple days. No complaints here.

I had to replace the lights on my utility trailer. The Kit came complete with easy to follow directions. Everything matched up perfectly almost plug and play. It took about 3 hours to remove the old lights and install the new ones. The only extra thing I had to purchase was extra white ground wire. The length that came with the kit was a little short. All other wire was more than ample length. That is why it got 4 stars other than that minor thing it would have gotten 5 stars. I am not a big user but the people at e-trailer are professionals with great follow up. This is the 2nd time that I used them and I do not hesitate to recommend the company and people.

They are holding up fine and I would recommend them to anyone

So overall I would recommend these! The product seems a little bit like "you get what you pay for." They don't seem to be of the highest quality but for the price, getting submersible trailer lights that are down and dirty and work, they seem great. They are on my 4X8 utility trailer and they were easy to wire and install. They do come with wire nuts to make the wire connections and I replaced them with inline waterproof wire connectors but the wire nuts would have worked just fine. Again, overall, the kit had everything you would need to make these lights work.

Comments
Thank you for your review. It sounds like you have a classic ground issue. These particular lights ground through the mounting studs so make sure they are attached to a clean bare metal surface.

I'm in the process of bringing my '84 tilt bed trailer back to decent condition and needed lights, etc. I went to the website and was able to find everything I was looking for. Ordering was easy and shipping was scheduled to arrive on July 6th. To my surprise, it showed up on the 2nd, in good condition and was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for the excellent service.

Ordered this light kit from etrailer and paid a little more than buying a generic set from [online retailer] thinking, like other products I have purchased here, the lights would be a better quality. Instead they arrived with very light wire, appears to be 18 gauge and average quality "submersible" lights. The cheaper lights on [online retailer] came with 16 gauge wire and looked at least if not more waterproof.

Comments
I confirmed with Optronics that the pigtail wires on the lights in this kit have 20 gauge wire. These lights are designed to be submersible and feature a drain hole on the bottom too allow any water to escape, they are not waterproof.

The Submersible, Under 80" Trailer Light Kit with 25' Wiring Harness kit that I purchased worked well for my application. I had an old, broken set of lights on my trailer. I found this kit from Optronics on etrailer and after reviewing the pictures, diagrams and information listed on your website, I knew this would be a great replacement for the OEM lights that came on the trailer. I received the kit in the time listed for my shipping selection and once I got the kit, I was able to install all of the lights and wires with ease. This is a great kit from Optronics and had all of the components I needed to make sure anyone behind me knows when I am stopping and turning. Thank you employees of etrailer for helping me get the product that I needed.

Bought this for my boat trailer. It’s in the water on the launch ramp twice a week spring summer and fall. That said, I generally try to unplug the lights before I submerge them. I’ve forgotten that step once or twice with no issues. Price was right. Easy to order. Shipped quickly. Easy to install. Still working as expected a year later. It doesn’t get better than that!

Works as it should! Everything was there and packaged nicely. They even include a few extra clips and wire nuts.

- TL5RK
by:

Exceptional quality for the price! I made the mistake of purchasing a kit at one third the price if this one, (I literally got what I paid for)! But no worries, as this kit was a vast improvement over the cheapy Chinese trailer light kit. I would have given it a five star, however the plugs finish quality were less than they should have been, (mold flashing, and an odd shape) they should check to make sure that the plugs are GM, Ford and Chrysler compatible. I went to the auto parts store, (NAPA) and purchased a Ford compatible male/female plugs to splice into the wire harness, versus the plugs that came with the harness provided.

- TL5RK
by:

Was exactly as described. Installation was straightforward. Works fine for a utility trailer with limited use.

I love the Item I purchased, very easy to install and got it a very good price. Two years or so ago I bought a front mount trailer hitchfrom E-trailer and got the best price and free shipping which was incrdible. I will always buy my trailer/hitch needs from etrailer.com. In fact I'm a retired NYC correction officer and attend union meetings as a retiree and will at the next meeting recommend etrailer.com to everyone there.. thanks for being a reliable company with the best prices on the net or anywhere else for that matter.. Used these on a brand new trailer with a separate ground ran to each light from the white ground wire off the harness. Nothing but problems, the bulbs if put in wrong will mess up everything. Ended up buying blazer led lights from tractor supply and worked great. I would not reccomend these.

  • Will Trailer Light Kit Work With Wiring Harness on 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander
That is an excellent question and the answer is that your 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander will need to use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56189 with the Submersible, Under 80" Trailer Light Kit # TL5RK due to the amperage draw you referenced. The Curt kit has a max amperage of 3 amps per circuit, which will be needed for the 2.5 amps of the trailer light kit; the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118482 has a 2.1 amp capacity, as you noted, and...

  • How to the Lights in Trailer Light Kit TL5RK Ground to the Trailer
The lights included with light kit # TL5RK ground through the mounting studs. The light grounds should also be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt the ground. • Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Lights That Don't Work When Vehicle Headlights Are Turned On
It sounds like what you're describing could be an issue with the ground wire on the trailer-either a short or an insufficient connection. This is a common cause of lights working initially but then malfunctioning when another load is added to the mix.
