I have a mobile sharpening business and have an enclosed cargo trailer that I work out of. We just purchased a Dodge Durango and needed a hitch and wiring harness to pull the trailer. I have never installed a hitch or wiring harness before, but etrailer.com has the instructions posted so you can read them before making a purchase. It seemed easy enough, so I made my order.
The order shipped the next business day and arrived in two days!
Installing the hitch was a very simple process of removing 4 bolts, lifting the hitch into place, and reinstalling the 4 bolts. (Hint: If you’re installing on a Durango, or possibly other vehicles, lower the spare tire and get it out of the way. If you have big hands like me, it will be much easier to get to the bolts.)
This hitch tucks very nicely under the bumper. There is no worry about banging your shins on it! It looks good too.
If you are needing a hitch but are reluctant to try to install it yourself… don’t fret! etrailer.com has very clear instructions that are easy to understand.
I would highly recommend this to ANYONE needing a hitch and wants to save a few bucks by installing it yourself.

I’ve purchased several hitches from etrailer in the past. Always a great experience. This was installed on my 2026 Dodge Durango GT. Uses vehicle hardware (4 bolts). A couple recommendations
1. Lower your spare tire. Gives you lots of room work
2. You have 2 remove 2 10 mm nuts from the spare tire heat shield to fit the hitch behind the shield and directly to the frame
3. When placing the nuts back on for the heat shield tighten the hitch down first or you may think you will not Jane enough room to get those 10mm nits started. May also have to push the shield a little to get the nuts started. But it’s not a big deal.
Hitch looks great and actually like it much better than having a hitch behind the cover.
It’s a super easy install. If you don’t have another set of hands you can needy the hitch on the lowered spare until you get the bolts started. No need to jack the car up.
Can’t beat etrailer prices and customer service.

So far, the hitch meets expectations. I have not used it for hauling a trailer, but I don't see how it couldn't perform that function. I am waiting to install the wiring harness until this weekend. We would only use this hitch for small trailers. This was installed on a 2022 Dodge Durango GT Plus.
I chose to buy this model because it was promoted as being built in the USA. I saw sub $100 versions available on Amazon, but I didn't want to roll the dice on Chinese quality. The purchase/checkout process was efficient and easy. Shipping was quick and the hitch was packaged adequately in a large box. No damage to the finish was noted from shipping and handling. The minor scuffs noted were probably there from the manufacturing process.
INSTALLATION: the process is not difficult, but there was a major difference on our vehicle that was not addressed in the included instructions or the online video. There is a large, semi-circular plastic shield to protect the spare. This shield MUST be addressed so that you do not have a layer of plastic between the metal parts of the hitch and frame rail. Eventually the plastic will crack and fall out, leaving the bolts loose. All you need is a 10mm deep well socket to remove the nuts and you will then have enough room to slip the sides of the hitch *behind* the plastic. Once the bolts are torqued in place (I also used Red Loctite and reduced the torque by 4 lb-ft for wet threads) the plastic cover can be forced in enough to reinstall the nuts.
So easy for my mechanic to install. My vehicle did have the factory tow wiring after all so Etrailer was kind enough to accept the wiring harness I purchased from them back without hesitation. I appreciate that. I look forward to getting a lot of use out of my new hitch. Etrailer is the best!!!
Really easy install. You don’t need anything fancy to complete it. I did it by myself in the driveway and just used the box to lie down on. The hardest part is torquing the bolts correctly. Either I need a new torque wrench or I need to workout more. I couldn’t get the wrench to “click”. I’m just planning to use it for a bike rack for now, I’ll recheck the torque if I try to tow anything more than that.
It was a direct fit. A little trimming from some over sealant jobs from vehicle manufacturing but no big deal. Would have been nice for a good spot to secure the 4-way plug but I just secure it behind bumper when not in use.

You can install a mounting bracket for the trailer connector very easily. You'll need the # 18140 no-drill bracket attached to the hitch crossbar along with the # 18144 bracket which works on Tekonsha, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Tow Ready and Valley 4 pole flat trailer connectors.

Hitch was delivered, packaging was extremely sturdy. I had it out of the box and installed withing 45 minutes just by myself. I used 2 jack stands to hold it up while I bolted it in. Couldn't have been easier. The installation was on a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Super easy install on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Took me, by myself 8 minutes with a Milwaukee Impact gun to have it fully installed and ready to use. Great quality. Would recommend.

Easy to install and looks amazing. If you have a rear tow hook, you will need to remove that in order to mount the receiver.
My etrailer hitch receiver fit perfectly in my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Install looks great, Charda! I say it a lot and will continue to say it, the matte finish on our hitches looks better than the gloss finish other brands use. It just blends in better. What are you going to be using the hitch for?

Excellent investment. I tow a trailer at least once a week. Easy to install. Even saved my truck from damage in a rear end collision.
My trailer hitch receiver arrived, I unboxed it, it looked small so I was kind of leery that it wouldn't fit as stated, but I was WRONG! I don't want to steal the line from O.J. Simpson, but the hitch "fit like a glove!" LoL The next project will be tackling the wiring. With the help of etrailer's installation video...the exact match of my vehicle, I'm sure it'll be fine!
