Recommended Hitch for a 2025 Dodge Durango

I want to install a trailer hitch with appropriate lights to my 2025 Dodge Durango Durango GT, 3.6L, V6, VIN 1C4-RDJDG3SC-507047. I plan to buy a trailer that will carry at least two, up to four 12 ft × 50 lb each kayaks. Please advise what hitch you recommend and if there are any installing issues Im hoping there are no issues.

Congrats on the new SUV. Does the 2025 Dodge Durango GT have the bumper cutout on it for the factory hitch? If so the best one for your Durango is going to be the Draw-Tite item # DT38MR. This hitch installs behind your rear bumper and is pretty similar to the factory one. The only difficulty you'll encounter installing this hitch is removing the rear bumper cover.
If your Durango does not have the bumper cutout, I recommend our etrailer Hitch item # e98901. This hitch attaches to your Durango's frame. The 2" receiver will sit right below your rear bumper. It's a pretty straight forward install, so no bumper removal. The hitch will just bolt to the frame.

To add a 4-way connector for pulling a kayak trailer, you'll need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56336. This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Durango's wiring harness, which is located behind the tail lights.
To round out your towing setup, I also recommend the etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball item # e67DR. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball, with a 7,500 lbs capacity, and a fixed ball mount with a 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip.
