Flash Freeze Technology

Advent Air Flash Freeze Technology

The air distribution box also offers Advent Air's Flash Freeze technology. This technology consists of 3 slotted registers and 1 curved, louvered vent that provide maximum airflow whether your system is ductless or ducted. This enables the unit to cool the interior of your RV or camper more quickly than other air distribution boxes that might only have 2 registers or don't have a louvered vent. If you have a ducted system, you will have air coming out of the ducts, the registers, and the vent. Or for more evenly distributed airflow, you can divert more cool air through the ducts and use the sliding switches to close the registers.

Wall-Mounted Thermostat

Advent Air Thermostat Mounted on Wall

This air distribution box includes a wall-mounted thermostat that lets you control the operating mode, fan settings, and temperature settings, and also turn the system on and off. Simply hit the MODE button to switch between 3 modes: cooling, furnace, and heat strip.

To operate the fan, press the FAN button. The thermostat offers auto, low, medium, and high fan speed settings that let you increase or decrease airflow as needed. In the auto setting, the fan will turn on and off with the compressor or furnace, and the speed of the fan will be determined by the temperature.

To set the temperature, press both arrow buttons. Then use the buttons individually to either lower or raise the temperature. The thermostat will display the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. To switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius, or vice versa, press both arrow buttons for 3 seconds.

Advent Air Thermostat Blue LED Display

The thermostat has a blue LED display and large, user-friendly buttons that are easy to see. 15 Seconds after the last button is pressed, the blue light will turn off, which helps save power. The thermostat also has indicator lights that act as a confirmation as to whether the fan, the cooling setting, or the heat setting is currently being adjusted.

I had an issue with one of the two Advent roof top units I purchased new and had them installed in Dec. 23. They both fired up and ran perfectly for the first 4 months with no problems. After 4 months when the rear unit would cycle on in the cooling mode, the fan and compressor would come on like normal but only the fan would turn off when the desired temperature was reached. The compressor would remain on and it seemed to be struggling or working under an extreme work load. My motor home has two separate rooftop units and they are freestanding units... meaning not tied together in anyway. They both still had the original analog thermostats Dometic used in 2007. After speaking with Kate @ Etrailer customer service, I tried swapping the two thermostats to see if that would fix the problem since they are both identical. That did not change anything. Next I swapped the Start/Run capacitors, which also resulted in no change. Kate and I decided it was something inside the control box not sending the correct shutoff signal to the compressor and the heavy load sound coming from the compressor was the compressor actually freezing up. The new control box arrived three days later with a new digital thermostat. I had the new control box and thermostat installed yesterday and today the units are both functioning as intended from the factory. They both are cycling on and off correctly now plus I took several temperature readings of the incoming air flow from ducts in the ceiling. The units hit a record low of 56 degress two or three times and I am consistently getting 59 degree readings from both units. It's a win win since these AC units take much less energy to run and they are routinely cooling supply air down into the mid to upper 50's. We live in Fort Worth Texas and it get really hot an humid. The new units are much more energy efficient than the original units ever were and they keep up with the desired cooling temperature much better than the original AC units did in the Texas sun! I am really happy with the new Advent AC units. The one and only thing I would put into a "CON" category is that the units are so tall. I don't believe they are any taller than the original units from 07 but with the new technology of today I would have liked to have lowered the overall clearance height (13'- 6") of my unit by 4 or 5 inches. I would recommend these units and I would buy them again.

Great product, had to have assistance with installation due to lack of electrical skills. Unit works great, thermostat was programmed without any problems.

She was the first person at e trailer that gave me her direct line which I was able to call back and get the right parts that I needed.

@Edward The Advent air distribution box is designed to work with the thermostat that's included with it. We're glad to hear that it's otherwise working well for you.

I ordered the rooftop AC unit and was told it was a direct fit replacement with my current ceiling assemply. But that was not true. I also needed the ACRG15. I ordered this part and y’all sent me something completely different than what I ordered (an air compressor). And since the parts I do need are on backorder this totally screwed up the rest of my summer camping plans . I’m not happy about it to say the least.

by:

Purchased the AC unit and our old air distribution box was about wore out so the wife said order a new one, etrailer shipped the ac the next day ( and Texas summers are brutal) and the box right after always great service Thanks Charles

by:

Quality appears very good. Instructions very helpful and very clear and simple to understand. Would have been nice if 10’ of 22/4 wire was provided for the thermostat assembly since I’m not installing it on the distribution box (little humor). Will have to order heat strip next after heat wave has gone.

The installation of this, replacing all my original Dometic parts and wiring, is fairly straightforward, although you won't get much help from the instructions as they are written for 1st time installs. When you get to your furnace wiring, you get just one wire from the Advent thermostat, where my Dometic unit had 2 (+/- 12v). After much research and reading a few blog posts, I learned that taping off the positive 12v lead (stuff it out of the way) and connecting the negative lead to the Advent thermostat wire allowed the Suburban furnace to cycle properly. The real frustration with this is that the plastic vent cover for the distribution box assembly is too big for the opening thereby blocking air flow through the louvers, should you choose to use them (they are flush against the ceiling). Of the 6 factory pre-drilled screw holes, 4 line up with the Advent factory assembly, 2 do not. The fix for this is to just put screws into my RV fiberboard ceiling. That is a poor workaround. I believe this poor fit is a design mistake although the Advent folks believe otherwise. If you buy this packaged kit, be prepared to have to field engineer it or use your original plastic vent (in my case Dometic) if you are using the standard 14x14 opening. I give the etrailer folks high marks for trying to help, however, they only sell it. Advent imports it. I include photos to better explain this.

by:

This product was sold as a direct replacement for the Dometic but it was far from it. First of all the inside compression ring was too small so I had to make a spacer so it would seal off on the roof. The screws were 1” too short and would not reach the roof component, luckily the screws from the Dometic were the same thread so I used them. The air shield that is suppose to be used with thick roofs was too short and was suppose to be Held in place with crappy double sided tape. The grill design on the air distribution cover is so bad it disturbs the air flow so only about half of the air makes it through.
All and all I wish I’d spent the extra money and bought another Dometic.
This is the first product I’ve have bought from etrailer that has disappointed me.

excellent thanks

The thermostat was fine but the plastic vent cover is junk. They covered up the vent with sound deadening material so the air can't flow and if you take the sound deadening material of it makes a lot of noise. This is unacceptable in my opinion. Don't know why they would make something like this.

Going with 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. Seems very odd that the rear two mount holes do NOT go into the frame, but rather into the ceiling of the coach. Distro box itself is soft plastic and really directs a huge amount of air along the roof and rear, not much for being able to adjust down or around.

Going from analog thermostat with 6 wires to this digital thermostat and controller with 4 wires did have me run new leads from the unit down to my furnace. Having 3 fan speeds and the smaller thermostat controller is nice. I ran the 12vdc+, 12vdc-, furnace lines down to the same lines at my furnace, pictures included may help explain. From the control box, red (box) to red (lead) to red (furnace) and blue (coach) 12VDC+...Black (box) to Black (lead) to Yellow (furnace) and White (coach) 12VDC-...Brown (box) to Yellow (lead) to Blue (furnace) thermocouple control, previously the white wire at the analog thermostat.

Otherwise, seems to do all the things that it should, looks nice and is easy to operate. This unit replaced the coleman mach unit of unknown age in my 1993 Tioga Class C

I just this week had this product installed in my RV. The labor charge was $290 and it took the worker 1 1/2 hours to put it in. It works as advertised and we are looking forward to our first camping trip coming up in the near future.
After looking over all of the parts and instructions I felt better having someone with experience tackle the job. I'm relatively handy but am also 81 years old. Time to let the youngsters take over!

Got the air box in good time. Installation was a little tricky but it went well ac works like a charm would give 5 stars but the furnace is waiting part's at this time.

by:

Great product and quick consistent service on every order from etrailer!

It would be the greatest if the air come out the othe direction or we're reversible. The bedroom unit is directed at the closets , not down the hallway

Etailer was very easy to work with. Knowledgeable people, definitely not from them again

These people are awesome! The air distribution box came, but would not function (we had a certified RV tech installing it). We contacted etrailer.com customer support and they sent us a return shipping label and a new air distribution box (which worked great). If I need anything etrailer.com carries, you can be sure I'll buy from them again.

Great product! Has a good air flow easy to install

by:

As far as the product, it is a very simple install and a think it will last long term. I think the plenum wall is somewhat cheap and not well thought out. My disappointment is with customer service, I was told I would not need this item when I ordered the AC and I could use my existing hardware. This bad advice turned into striping 2 of the connection bolt holes having to alter my brand new AC and then waiting on this item, blowing more of my time and paying more for shipping! The product is fine but customer service needs to be better.

by:

It arrived a lot sooner than we expected. Thank you very much.

  • Atwood Furnace Quit Working After Install Of New Advent AC Plug & Play
The different brands of appliances are not communicating with each other. I know this can seem flabbergasting, why would companies make things different! The # ACM135 is not design to work with a wall mounted thermostat. I recommend going with the Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - White # ACRG15. This will replace the wall thermostat and get rid of any issues and promote good reciprocity between the appliances. I have added a diagram...

That said, I am not sure how old your current unit is, but a new upgraded distribution box might be a good idea.
