Flash Freeze Technology

Advent Air Flash Freeze Technology

The air distribution box also offers Advent Air's Flash Freeze technology. This technology consists of 3 slotted registers and 1 curved, louvered vent that provide maximum airflow whether your system is ductless or ducted. This enables the unit to cool the interior of your RV or camper more quickly than other air distribution boxes that might only have 2 registers or don't have a louvered vent. If you have a ducted system, you will have air coming out of the ducts, the registers, and the vent. Or for more evenly distributed airflow, you can divert more cool air through the ducts and use the sliding switches to close the registers.

Wall-Mounted Thermostat

Advent Air Thermostat Mounted on Wall

This air distribution box includes a wall-mounted thermostat that lets you control the operating mode, fan settings, and temperature settings, and also turn the system on and off. Simply hit the MODE button to switch between 4 modes: cooling, heat pump, furnace, and heat strip. The heat pump mode will not work if the outside temperature is below 38 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature does drop below 38 degrees, then the thermostat will automatically activate the furnace mode.

To operate the fan, press the FAN button. The thermostat offers auto, low, medium, and high fan speed settings that let you increase or decrease airflow as needed. In the auto setting, the fan will turn on and off with the compressor or furnace, and the speed of the fan will be determined by the temperature.

To set the temperature, press both arrow buttons. Then use the buttons individually to either lower or raise the temperature. The thermostat will display the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. To switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius, or vice versa, press both arrow buttons for 3 seconds.

Advent Air Thermostat Blue LED Display

The thermostat has a blue LED display and large, user-friendly buttons that are easy to see. 15 Seconds after the last button is pressed, the blue light will turn off, which helps save power. The thermostat also has indicator lights that act as a confirmation as to whether the fan, the cooling setting, or one of the heat settings is currently being adjusted.

@Edward The Advent air distribution box is designed to work with the thermostat that's included with it. We're glad to hear that it's otherwise working well for you.

I just this week had this product installed in my RV. The labor charge was $290 and it took the worker 1 1/2 hours to put it in. It works as advertised and we are looking forward to our first camping trip coming up in the near future.
After looking over all of the parts and instructions I felt better having someone with experience tackle the job. I'm relatively handy but am also 81 years old. Time to let the youngsters take over!

The installation of this, replacing all my original Dometic parts and wiring, is fairly straightforward, although you won't get much help from the instructions as they are written for 1st time installs. When you get to your furnace wiring, you get just one wire from the Advent thermostat, where my Dometic unit had 2 (+/- 12v). After much research and reading a few blog posts, I learned that taping off the positive 12v lead (stuff it out of the way) and connecting the negative lead to the Advent thermostat wire allowed the Suburban furnace to cycle properly. The real frustration with this is that the plastic vent cover for the distribution box assembly is too big for the opening thereby blocking air flow through the louvers, should you choose to use them (they are flush against the ceiling). Of the 6 factory pre-drilled screw holes, 4 line up with the Advent factory assembly, 2 do not. The fix for this is to just put screws into my RV fiberboard ceiling. That is a poor workaround. I believe this poor fit is a design mistake although the Advent folks believe otherwise. If you buy this packaged kit, be prepared to have to field engineer it or use your original plastic vent (in my case Dometic) if you are using the standard 14x14 opening. I give the etrailer folks high marks for trying to help, however, they only sell it. Advent imports it. I include photos to better explain this.

Going with 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. Seems very odd that the rear two mount holes do NOT go into the frame, but rather into the ceiling of the coach. Distro box itself is soft plastic and really directs a huge amount of air along the roof and rear, not much for being able to adjust down or around.

Going from analog thermostat with 6 wires to this digital thermostat and controller with 4 wires did have me run new leads from the unit down to my furnace. Having 3 fan speeds and the smaller thermostat controller is nice. I ran the 12vdc+, 12vdc-, furnace lines down to the same lines at my furnace, pictures included may help explain. From the control box, red (box) to red (lead) to red (furnace) and blue (coach) 12VDC+...Black (box) to Black (lead) to Yellow (furnace) and White (coach) 12VDC-...Brown (box) to Yellow (lead) to Blue (furnace) thermocouple control, previously the white wire at the analog thermostat.

Otherwise, seems to do all the things that it should, looks nice and is easy to operate. This unit replaced the coleman mach unit of unknown age in my 1993 Tioga Class C

by:

As far as the product, it is a very simple install and a think it will last long term. I think the plenum wall is somewhat cheap and not well thought out. My disappointment is with customer service, I was told I would not need this item when I ordered the AC and I could use my existing hardware. This bad advice turned into striping 2 of the connection bolt holes having to alter my brand new AC and then waiting on this item, blowing more of my time and paying more for shipping! The product is fine but customer service needs to be better.

I wired 120v to box... wired up thermostat..hooked up sensor for coil...flipped the breaker and nothing on thermostat..no 12v going to thermostat...got to call advent tomorrow...I'm in HVAC and never had this kind of problem.

These people are awesome! The air distribution box came, but would not function (we had a certified RV tech installing it). We contacted etrailer.com customer support and they sent us a return shipping label and a new air distribution box (which worked great). If I need anything etrailer.com carries, you can be sure I'll buy from them again.

Excellent! No problems at all.

by:

The unit itself works great. We have to remove the cover when closing our slides. The cover is beautiful bigger than the original.

by:

It has been a good unit. It is still kicking out cold air. It would be even better if it wasn't as noisy but I have yet to see any rv acts that are. The price was the main reason I went with this unit along with free shipping, couldn't be beat. Also the customer service was top notch. Thanks

by:

Great customer service, communication, super fast shipping ordered on Tuesday and received on Thursday. Both items arrived at same time, 4 days before expected delivery date.
Will continue shopping with etrailer.com. 5 stars AAA++++++

by:

Very good and easy process right through

by:

The product quality as excellent. Installation went easy considering I knew what I was doin. If I had to rely on the directions if would have for sure been more difficult.

by:

Excellent service and fast delivery. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the unit is not 100% compatible with some Dometic units.
If you are replacing a unit that has a Dometic 3313379 control or similar with 2 furnace wires labeled y3 and y4 this will require a additional relay.
The advent system has 1 wire labeled 12 volt dc-Furnace.
The Y3 and Y4 on the Dometic are 12v dc and ground. If you put a jumper on them even with nothing else hooked up, the furnace will start.
Buy a 12 volt dc relay (either 4 or 5 terminal) at your local auto parts store for about $10.
Hook the Advent wire labeled 12 volt dc-Furnace to one side of the relay coil, and the other side of the coil to negative dc.
Hook the Y3 and Y4 wires to the normally opened terminals on the relay.
Mount the relay, and you are done. When you select furnace on the thermostat it closes the relay you added and after the normal delay (about 30 seconds), the furnace will start.
If you are familiar with wiring you shouldn't have a problem.
Hope this helps someone with a similar system.

Product works well but the instructions were abysmal. I bought this part right before Covid-19 stopped us all in our tracks so it sat around for a very long time before I got a chance to install it. I purchased it to upgrade by Advent AC which only had knobs to control it and no thermostat. I really don't understand how anyone would want an AC without a thermostat but that's how the AC came. First I had to run a thermostat wire -- looking at the part online I determined that I needed 4 wires for the thermostat so I bought that in advance on [resell store] for a few dollars. I drilled a hole where I wanted to mount the thermostat and fished the wire all the way to the existing AC. I removed the existing grill and "dumb" control module and then reassembled the new parts pretty much the same as they came off. I turned on the breaker and pressed the on button on the thermostat but nothing. Thinking that I did something wrong I dug out my multimeter to check for voltage at the thermostat but nothing. Back to the directions and after looking over the circuit detail I figured out that this smart control needed 12V DC to run. So I fished a 12v DC lead and connected it to the control -- now everything worked -- well almost. In putting on the cover I discovered that it would not fit because unlike the "dumb" unit which had the control board hanging down, this one needed it up. So I cut off all of the wires, turn it over and wired everthing back up. Turned the breaker on at voila, everything works and the cover fit too! One more note, the ACRG15 is for non-ducted use but the cover sent which clearly said ACRG15 on the box had the vents covered with a piece of metal and some sticky foil tape -- taking it off wasn't an issue but the manual included was also for an ACRG12 (don't know if they even make one for this one).

You didn't explain the air-conditioned on line when I order it if I knew it was a heat pump I would have never order it

The connection where the thermostat wires connect to the thermostat is weak and broke. I was able to solder the connection. Otherwise would be 5 Stars
