Can I Control the Heat Strip on Advent ACM150 Unit with Carrier Air V Controller

Question:

I purchased an advent acm 150 unit and the adapter kit for my Carrier Air v controller system. I also got the heat strip. It doesnt work with my air v controller. Both heat which used to start the heat pump option and furnace turn the furnace on. Any way to get the heat option to turn on the heat strip? Do I need some extra parts?

It sounds like you're trying to control the heat pump on your Advent # ACM150 with your existing thermostat, which is not possible, but I do have a solution for you. The Carrier remote does not have a heat function on it, so there's no way for your existing unit to control the heat function.

The Electric Heat Strip for Advent Air Conditioners # ACMHD can only be operated with the Air Distribution Box w/ Built-In Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - White # ACDB (non ducted only) or Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - White # ACRG15, so you would need to replace your air distribution box with this one. Your wireless controller will be obsolete and you'll only be able to control the unit from your air distribution box on this, but it's the only way to also control the heat strip in this unit.
