Depending on the type of bike rack you have, you may need to secure the adapter bar to the bike with a cable lock (sold separately) to deter theft.

  • What is the Difference Between a Class II and a Class III Hitch?
The difference between the Class II and Class III hitches has to do with their Gross Trailer Weight (GTW), their Tongue Weight (TW), and their Hitch Receiver Size. Class II trailer hitch receivers have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and can be rated up to 3,500 lbs in GTW and up to 525 lbs in TW. Class III, on the other hand, have a 2 inch receiver and have up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs TW. I will attach a help article that goes in to more detail for you. A good example of a Class II hitch that...

  • 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 Bike Rack Recommendation for Swing Away Adapter
No, you do not want to use the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 with the Yakima BackSwing part # Y02483 because of that 2" solid shank requirement. If your bike doesn't have a front fender then you can use the BackSwing with a rack like the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR or NV 2.0 Base # BA22B. I really like the Kuat line of bike racks because they put a lot of thought into the designs so you get great quality and easy-to-use racks. Attached are review videos of both for you to check out.

  • Should The Thule Frame Adapter 982XT Move When Not In Use
Yes, there will usually be some play in the # TH982XT adapter bar and that is normal. That will not be the cause of problems. The ends of the bars do have different sizes. Typically it's the steering stem that requires the wider portion but as long as you get both the seat post and stem secured either way will work fine. If you haven't gotten a lock for your bike rack, the # TH538XT is a great option for securing your bikes once loaded.

  • Recommended Lightweight Bike Rack for a 2013 Toyota Prius C and Womens Bikes
The Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack # TH9058 weighs in at 28 lbs. If your bikes have smaller frames then you would likely need an adapter bar like the Thule # TH982XT otherwise your bikes will likely sit at a weird angle which not only makes it awkward to load, but it will also reduce ground clearance (see attached with the bar installed). If you can send me some pictures of your bikes I can get a better idea as to if you'd probably need an adapter bar or not. If you don't already have a trailer...

  • Does Curt Trailer Hitch for 2010 Nissan Cube Require Stabilizing Strap for Bike Rack
I can confirm for you that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11202 for your 2010 Nissan Cube does require a stabilizing strap for use with a bike rack item # 18050. So you can use this rack and hitch combo on your Nissan. The Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack # TH92BJ is a great choice for a bike rack because it offers a ton of value. It is a premium rack from a company, Thule, known for their quality but at a great price relative to other racks.

  • Can the Thule Helium Aero 3 be Used to Carry 3 Bikes in a Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver
The straight-forward answer is no, you should never carry 3 bikes in a Class I hitch. Any trailer hitch manufacturer will confirm this. Even though it would seem like using a lighter bike rack like the Thule Helium Aero 3 # TH9043PRO would keep the total weight down, it is more about the leverage than the weight. If you have a Class I trailer hitch receiver that has a 200 lb weight capacity and you max it out with 2 bikes or 3 bikes the 3 bike configuration will not be safe because the...

  • Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Jeep Wrangler with Oversized Tires
We have a few hitch mount bike rack options that will work for you. One of the most popular hitch mount bike racks among our Jeep Wrangler customers is the Thule Hitching Post Pro, # TH934XTR. This bike rack measures 13-1/2 inches to the back of the upright mast and about 9 inches to the lower post at the bottom of the mast. Looking at your picture, I don't think the lower post will interfere with your rear tire. I have attached a review video of this bike rack on a Jeep Wrangler for you...

  • How to Carry Bikes on the Front of a Minnie Winnie with Ford E-450 Chassis
I do have a solution for you to carry some bikes at the front of your Minnie Winnie (on a 2017 Ford E-450 Chassis) but all trunk mount bike racks like the Thule OutWay # TH45JV you referenced have only been tested and approved for installation on the trunk or hatch of a vehicle. Even if you could find a way for this rack to fit there is no way to guarantee that it would be able to safely transport your bikes. For your application you need to install the Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch # 65053...

  • What 4-Bike Rack do You Recommend for Putting on the Back of My Jeep Grand Cherokee?
With transporting 4 bikes, I recommend a platform-style hitch bike rack. For this route, I suggest the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18087. The Curt 4 has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 45 pounds and can hold bikes with maximum tire widths of 3 inches wide. Since your bikes have alternate frame styles, I recommend a Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 for each bike that has that frame...

  • Will the Thule Spare Me Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser
If the backup camera is mounted anywhere on the spare tire or spare tire carrier of your 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser the Thule Spare Me, # TH963PRO, will not fit. Otherwise it is listed as a fit. If your FJ Cruiser does have a back up camera that is mounted right in the center of the spare then I recommend using Hollywood Racks spare tire mount bike rack # HRSR1 instead. But you will have to remove the plastic cover from the spare tire for it to fit. I have linked video reviews of both racks...

The Thule Apex Swing XT 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Swinging # TH9027XT can be be used on the rear of a motorhome; it has no restrictions except for not being installed on a trailer (or other towed vehicle) so the rear of a motorhome is fine! The only other thing to note is that with any hanging rack like the Apex Swing you'll need bike frame adapter bar # TH982XT if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. • Recommended Option to Carry Bikes and Skis on 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE
To haul bikes as well as your skis and snowboard on your 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE, there is one great option, starting with a hitch. For a trailer hitch use the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13052 because it has the most bumper clearance for use with a bike rack. This is a Class III, 2 inch hitch which is a bolt-on installation so no drilling will be required to install it on your Land Rover; the hitch is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty. • What is the Difference Between the Thule Helium Pro Vs Helium Aero 3 Bike Rack
The Thule Helium Pro 3 # TH9043PRO is the newer version of the Thule Helium series of bike racks and was the replacement for the Helium Aero 3 rack a few years back. The biggest difference between the Helium Pro and the Aero is that the Pro uses a much more durable and reliable ratchet strap as opposed to the rubber strap on the Aero, which can stretch and break quite easily. Additionally the cradles come with a foam-rubber padding that will help protect the finish on the bike much better...

For your 2010 Ford Mustang, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11048 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. As long as you do not have the GT/CS, California Special, Shelby GT, or GT500 edition then this hitch will work well for you. It is currently the only option we have for this vehicle. • Will The Thule OutWay 2 Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Damage the Rear Glass of a 2011 Kia Soul
Yes, this Thule OutWay 2 Bike Carrier # TH45JV is confirmed fit for your 2011 Kia Soul. The top portion of the bike rack will rest on the back glass of your vehicle, but it will not damage the glass of your rear windshield. Most of the pressure from the rack will be on the lower arms of the rack due to gravity. We have never had any issues with the back glass being damaged on a trunk mounted bike rack, and the # TH45JV is no exception to that. If you plan on carrying women's or alternative...

The first thing we know is that from the center of your hitch pin hole to the edge of your bumper will need a rack with at least an 8-1/2 inch clearance. Hello Rachel, thanks for reaching out. I see you were looking at the Thule Apex XT Bike Rack for 5 Bikes # TH9026XT and honestly this is a really good choice that will fit your needs. It can carry 5 bikes. It installs to the hitch using a hand knob, so you don't need to carry a wrench around with you. It also tilts away from the car to allow access to the hatch. For your 2017 Subaru Outback, the Thule Camber 4-Bike Rack # TH9056 is a really nice option and will work perfectly with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76227. The reason for that is, when we installed this hitch on a 2017 Outback, we found it measured 3 inches from the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper, and the Camber measures 7 inches from the hitch pin to the closest part of the rack, so you'll have plenty of room for the rack to fit without any interference. • Trunk-Mounted Bike Rack for Honda Insight
A trunk or hatch-mounted bike rack is not recommended for the first generation (2000-2006 model year) Honda Insight due to the fact that the rack would have to attach to the rear glass, which does not have sufficient strength to support the rack and the bikes installed on it. The Passage uses anti-sway cradles which means your bikes are going to be secure to the rack and not come into contact with each other or your Pacifica.
