Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

Note: The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the hitch must be 1-1/2" or greater to use this rack.

Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and motorhomes - not approved for fifth wheels or towable campers

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack

This premium, hitch-mounted bike rack lets you transport 3 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It's made of ultra-lightweight aluminum so you can install it, carry it, and move it from vehicle to vehicle with little effort. It has fold-up anti-sway cradles and ratcheting straps that make it easy to load and unload your bikes. The cradles are set 7" apart, so there's enough space between your bikes to prevent them from becoming tangled on the rack. It also has an anti-rattle hitch pin and integrated cable with keyed-alike locks that secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Folding Dual Arms with HitchSwitch Lever

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Dual Arms with HitchSwitch Lever

The Helium Pro has dual arms that provide your bikes with excellent support and ground clearance during transport.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

The upper HitchSwitch lever lets you fold the arms down when not in use.

HideAway Anti-Sway Cradles

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

The Helium Pro has HideAway anti-sway cradles that secure each bike twice along the top tube and once along the seat post or downtube. This reduces rocking to help eliminate bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the arms to accommodate your bikes' frames. Each cradle is set 7" apart on the arms, so there is more space between your bikes when compared with many other hanging-style racks. The added space helps prevent your bikes from becoming tangled on the rack.

Thule Helium Pro 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Grooves

The cradles have grooves on the surface that prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Thule Helium Pro 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Cradles

Durable, dual-molded ratchet straps hold your bikes firmly in place on the cradles. You can remove the lower straps and fold the cradles up against the arms to make it easier to slide your bikes onto the rack.

Tilting Rack with HitchSwitch Lever

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Tilting

The rack tilts for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Just pull up on the HitchSwitch lever at the base of the rack, and lower the rack into position. When you're ready to go, lift the rack up until it snaps into place with an audible click.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Lower HitchSwitch Lever

The HitchSwitch lever is located right behind the base of the mast. This makes it easy to reach with one hand and steady the mast with the other.

Tool-Free Installation

Thule EasyFold XT

The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

The Helium Pro includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the left arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Pin

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. The hand knob will spin freely when locked so a would-be thief can't operate it to remove the rack from your hitch. The locks are keyed alike so you can use the same keys for both locks. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all of your Thule products keyed alike.

Hitch Compatibility

Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Hanging-Style Rack 1-1/4

The rack works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

I recently purchased the Thule Helium Pro 3 Bike Rack and love how simple it is to operate once put together. I've only had it for about a week and have used it twice. It is great not to worry about pins any longer. My only beef is with the instructions to put it together. I took all the parts out of the box and started to read the instructions. The rack comes in two parts - the hitch part and the rack part. In handling the hitch part, I noticed there was tape on it and didn't think twice about removing the tape. I found out the hard way the tape was keeping a metal bar in place (where the rack can be reclined to open your tailgate). There was also tape to keep the locking mechanism in place. After I removed the tape, the parts fell out and I had one heck of time adjusting the hook to the bar. I ended up taking it to a local bike shop to fix and connect the rack piece to the hitch piece. In the end, I'm not sure if this was supposed to be like this or not. Either way, I wish instructions came with words along with the pictures and told me not to remove the tape. 773133

I appreciate the fact that etrailer.com had a video on this product which helped me evaluate it and understand how to install it. They accurately represented the bike rack and its installation. I love it! They provided customer service way beyond the sale! A rare happening in today's world. 696536

Really well made, robust, well finished, works simply and well. Handles my three bikes easily: two road and one hybrid. Like the integrated bike lock and really like the hitch stabilizer and locking mechanism. Well designed. Shout out to etrailer staff. Great customer service, proactive OEM contacts to confirm availability and delivery dates, and keeping me informed re delivery. 874156

The rack has worked fairly well for us, but it has a disturbing tendency to bounce, and at one point, one of the straps got loose and a bike came part way off on the highway, causing the kick stand to get ground down to a fine point before we noticed. We now use extra care to make sure the straps are positioned so they won't come loose, but just how to do that is not clear from the pictures-only instruction manual. 867797

I received my THULE Helium Pro 3 today and I installed it and the only disappointing part of the Bike Rack is the Weight. Thule makes its sound like it so light because it’s aluminum and it’s not. 829163

Great product ultimately! It took 2 of us 3-4 hours to install the hitch and the new bike rack... overall, it wasn’t complicated, but a little nerve wracking on a new car (so a lot of checking and re-checking instructions), and we had to run to the hardware store to buy a torque wrench. Also, you have to sort of pry off the bumper from the clips. Apparently there are tools for it, but we used an old plastic spatula knife that worked well (metal will scratch the bumper). 827663

Since 2011 this is the 3rd time I have shopped at etrailer. The reason I purchased this new Thule Helium model 9043PRObike rack is that the old Thule Helium model 971XT I bought back in 2011 broke (tightening lock knob mechanism inside the stinger assembly - 2nd time it has broken on me) and I needed a new rack quickly. etrailer.com indeed delivered swiftly! In the meantime I have put in a warrantee claim with Thule on my old rack. I’m sure this will take a while to resolve. I have already used this new 9043PRO rack and am really please with the rack’s functionality as compared to the old one! Specifically the ease and speed to place and lock it onto the hitch itself. Also like the new design straps as well as the bike locking cable design. Over the years I really appreciate the efficient, consistent and great customer service I have received in all my interactions etrailer! 819587

The rack has been great, my only issue is the The securing straps loosen frequently, especially for heavier or mountain bikes mounted. I use gear straps as extra security so l wont lose a bike. Maybe consider a different system to use as a strap....

Review from a similar Helium Pro in Hitch Bike Racks

This rack is exactly what I was looking for! It is light weight, insatllation was super easy, offers maneuverability to access the lift gate and keeps the bikes secure with key locks at the hitch and at the rack. Additionally, the rack is on a Draw-Tite Class III Max Round Tube Receiver Hitch which was also purchased from E-trailer. The combo is outstanding and eliminated the need to have my bumper modified to support hitch installation. 653175

Review from a similar Helium Pro in Hitch Bike Racks

My experience with etrailer.com was great from start to finish. I ordered a Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack and was pleased to see that etrailer.com offered a used item at a discount in addition to new items at full price. I took a chance and opted for the "used item" to get the discounted price. Almost immediately, I received an email confirmation for my order. Afterward, I received a follow-on email from etrailer.com letting me know my order had shipped and including a UPS tracking number. My rack arrived on time, securely sealed in its factory carton and with all the necessary parts and tools for assembly intact in factor sealed bags, including a manual. If this was "used" I certainly couldn't tell! Now, about that instruction manual - lol! I found it a bit odd that there were no actual instructions (just illustrations) to help guide you with assembling the rack. Not to worry. Some basic mechanical instincts together with information on the etrailer.com website will get you through just fine. I love the light weight of the Pro 2 and the features that enable you to fold the arms of the rack down, and also tilt the rack away from the rear of your vehicle for accessibility. This thing is light years ahead of the cumbersome, heavy and non-adjustable hitch mounted bike rack that I owned previously. (Did I say, "heavy"?) Great product, best price, excellent quality, fast shipping and superb follow up! Thanks, etrailer.com! 779512

I love this bike rack. It is light yet sturdy. I love that it locks at the hitch and only needs one key for both locks. Review from a similar Helium Pro in Hitch Bike Racks

I did lot of research get appropriate hitch rack for my SUV (Nissan Rogue). Finally I found what I needed!! It is very good quality item from trusted brand. It seemed a little confusing to assemble it at the very beginning but actually it is quite easy to do that by yourself and it doesn’t take long time either. It is very light and easy to carry if you wanna remove it from your vehicle. It is solid and it does carry our both bikes securely I am very happy with prompt response and fast delivery of etrailer.com. I purchased with 4 business days delivery option and I actually received it 3 days after I purchased it. It was impressive. FYI, I live in Maine. Thank you. 819126

  • Can 3 Bikes be Carried with the Thule Helium Pro 3 on a 2012-2013 Toyota Prius with 1-1/4 Receiver
The 2-bike rule (which is true) has more to do with the class rating of the trailer hitch than the actually receiver size itself. Since the only 1-1/4" trailer hitches for your 2012-2013 Toyota Prius are rated as Class I then you can only carry 2 bikes with the Thule Helium Pro 3 Bike Rack # TH9043PRO. For the 2" receiver option the only trailer hitch available is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receive # 306-X7178 which also features a design that hides the crossmember. I recommend...

  • Difference Between Thule Helium Pro 2 and Helium Pro 3
The Thule Helium Pro 3 Bike Rack part # TH9043PRO is the same as the Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack part # TH9042PRO except it weighs 1 lb more and holds 3 bikes. The Helium Pro 3 has all of the same great features like the tilt-away feature and integrated locks like the Helium Pro 2. You sure can use the Thule Helium Pro 3 Bike Rack part # TH9043PRO on the Class I hitch if you only load 2 bikes at a time because the extra bike would cause more leverage on the setup and possibly damage the hitch.

  • 3-Bike Rack Recommendation for 1-1/4 Receiver and Alternative-Frame Bikes
I believe you are referring to hanging style bike racks for your application. I recommend going with a Thule hanging bike rack over the Yakima simply because Thule just revamped their whole bike rack line and all of the newer models have 7" of space between the cradles and the cradles are a lower profile while means loading and unloading your bikes will be much easier. The Thule bike racks have a lot in common and so there are just minor differences like locks, the hitch pin works easier,...

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes on a 2016 Mini Clubman
Bike rack # TH9043PRO mounts in a trailer hitch receiver. That means you need to have a trailer hitch, like the Curt # C11524, installed on your 2016 Mini Clubman. However, this trailer hitch is a Class I hitch and Class I trailer hitches are limited to 2 bikes maximum. The issue is not the weight but how far that weight is from the trailer hitch. Three or more bikes puts weight too far from the receiver and it can damage the hitch and vehicle. You can carry 2 bikes using the above mentioned...

Since you said you have a factory hitch on your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon, there is a measurement you can take that will determine if you have the clearance for the Thule Helium Aero 3 Bike Carrier, part # TH9043PRO. The bike carrier does fit both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitch receivers. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. We have the Thule Helium Pro 3 # TH9043PRO which would be a great option for the hitches of both vehicles mentioned. Since only Class I hitches are made for the 2012 Honda Civic you would need to limit the rack to carrying only 2 bikes when used with this vehicle. The extra weight and leverage of the third bike puts too much stress on the Class I hitches. This rack is very lightweight at 20 lbs and is very easy to install and use as well. • Can the Thule Helium Aero 3 be Used to Carry 3 Bikes in a Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver
The straight-forward answer is no, you should never carry 3 bikes in a Class I hitch. Any trailer hitch manufacturer will confirm this. Even though it would seem like using a lighter bike rack like the Thule Helium Aero 3 # TH9043PRO would keep the total weight down, it is more about the leverage than the weight. Although it is indeed fairly light (at 20-lbs) the Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Rack # TH9043PRO will be more stable in a hitch that allows more of the rack's shank to fit inside the receiver tube than the 1-inch on your hitch. • Does Thule Helium PRO 3-Bike Rack TH9043 Use a Bolt for a Hitch Pin
The Thule Helium PRO, part # TH9043PRO uses an auto pin system to lock into the hitch receiver. You'll just slide the shank of the rack into the hitch receiver, and the locking pin will automatically slide into place. Then tighten the knob to take up any slack between the shank and the receiver. Use the key to lock the knob, and you're done. Easy as can be. If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack that Allows the Rear Hatch to Open on a 2016 Chevy Traverse
Most bike racks that tilt down are not rated to do so with the bikes loaded. You would have to unload the bikes from the Thule Helium # TH9043PRO to be able to tilt it down and even then some times it isn't enough to open the hatch on some vehicles. The tilting racks that generally allow you to keep bikes loaded are the platform style that hold the wheels tight to the carrier. What I recommend is the Saris Glide EX, # SA774, which is similar to the Helium but it tilts out instead of...

  • Carrying 3 Bikes on a 2015 Volkswagen GTI
The Thule Helium Aero bike carrier # TH9043PRO does fit Class I trailer hitches like what would be on your 2015 Volkswagen GTI (# C11412) but you would be limited to 2 bikes. Trailer hitch and bike carrier manufacturers agree that Class I hitches can carry no more than 2 bikes. This is because the distance from a third and subsequent bikes puts too much leverage on the hitch and vehicle and could damage both. So you could use the 3-bike model but would be limited to 2 bikes. If you...

  • Recommended Fat Bike Beach Cruiser Bike Rack For 2009 BMW X3
The Thule Apex 4 Bike Rack # TH9025XT and the Thule Helium Aero 3-Bike Rack # TH9043PRO are similar in many respects. They differ in the number of bikes they carry and the materials with which they are made. The Apex is steel and weighs about 44 lbs where the Helium is Aluminum and weighs about 23 lbs. These are both nice bike racks but they will limit you to 35 lbs per bike which is where your fat tire beach cruiser have issue as those bikes are normally heavier than that. If this...

  • How Easy is it to Load 3 Bikes on the Thule Helium Aero Trailer hitch Mount Bike Rack
What you have heard is true. The more bikes, the harder it is to load them. But it is not so hard that it would be frustrating at all. Plus you can adjust the cradles on most racks to change the amount of space between bikes. Since you want to load one adult bike and 2 kids bikes it should not be much of a problem at all. I have a rack very similar to the Thule Helium, # TH9043PRO, the Raceway, # TH9002PRO, and I load 2 adult bikes and one kid bike on it all the time with little to no...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Subaru Forester
Overall I prefer to recommend 2 inch hitches whenever available as they have better capacities and also have more accessories made for them. I really like the Curt Hitch # CU64FR for your 2017 Subaru Forester as it has the 2 inch opening and also is mostly hidden which allows a cleaner look and better ground clearance. Then for trailer wiring the Tekonsha part # 118467 is the easiest to install and has most reliable converter box.

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes on a 2013 Mazda 3 Sport Hatchback
There is 1 bike rack that meets all of your needs, the Thule Helium Aero Aluminum 3 Bike Rack, # TH9043PRO. The Thule brand is well respected in the biking community and this rack is made right here in the USA. I have attached a demonstration video of this bike racks for you to check out. I noticed you are planning on using the bike rack on a 2013 Mazda 3 Sport Hatchback. • Lightweight Hitch Bike Rack that Can Carry 3 Bikes
The Thule Helium Pro 3 part # TH9043PRO would be a solid choice for you situation as you can use it in both hitch sizes. When used in the Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch size you'd be limited to only carrying two bikes but when in the 2 inch hitch size you can carry the full 3 bike capacity. Class I hitches do not have the needed strength to handle the additional weight and leverage of a third bike carried that far away from the hitch. You'd easily have clearance too so there would be no damage...

  • Thule Helium Aluminum 3 Bike Carrier Compatibility with a 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5
The Thule Helium Aero Aluminum 3 Bike Carrier, # TH9043PRO, will fit on the hitch on your 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5 as long as the receiver opening on your hitch is either 1-1/4 inches or 2 inches wide and the hitch pin hole is greater than or equal to 1.5 inches from the outside lip of the hitch. If the hitch on your vehicle is a Class I hitch, then you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes at a time. I have attached an article that can help you determined the size of the receiver on your...

  • Will Handlebars of Bikes Interfere with Fit on the Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Rack
The Thule Helium Pro 3-Bike Rack # TH9043PRO actually has cradles spaced far enough apart that you won't have a problem fitting your cycling bikes. By using the Softride Soft Hook-and-Loop Tie Down # SR18679 you can help keep your front tires more stable while heading down the road but it will not eliminate all of the bike-to-bike contact. If your concern is that bike-to-bike contact then you will want to go with a platform bike rack instead. A great option that is similar in price is...

We have a solution for you to carry your bikes on your 2012 Audi Q5 but, according to Thule the Thule Raceway 3 Bike Rack, # TH9002PRO, will not fit on your vehicle. We have two trunk mount style bike racks that have been confirmed to fit your Q5, the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2, # HRF2, and the Over-the-Top 3, # HRF2-3. I have attached a demonstration video for you to check out. Another option that I recommend for carrying bikes on your Q5 is to add a trailer hitch and use a hitch...
