The Swagman XTC4 hitch-mounted platform rack takes the hassle out of transporting bikes of various sizes and styles. This sturdy powder coated steel rack accommodates most bike frames and makes for quick loading and unloading. The stable tray-style design offers 3 points of contact for each bike: 2 adjustable wheel hoops and a cushioned frame hook that won't scratch your bike. And when you're not using it, the 4-bike carrier folds up against your vehicle so it's out of the way.

Bike rack in unfolded position with slight incline to improve ground clearance

When the XTC4 bike rack is folded down for use, the base of the rack sits at a slight incline to improve ground clearance.

Bike hooks with push buttons and ratcheting system

Cushioned hooks slide easily down the rack's upright masts to secure each bike at the frame. The hooks click into place with the built-in ratcheting system. When it's time to remove your bikes, you can slide the hooks back up by pushing the integrated buttons to release them.

Adjustable wheel hoops with hand knobs and straps to secure wheels

The wheel hoops slide along the rack's horizontal arms to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. When the hoops are positioned as desired, you can tighten them in place with the built-in hand knobs. Rubber straps let you secure your bikes' wheels to the wheel hoops.

Video Transcript for Swagman XTC4 Wheel Mount Hitch Bike Rack Review

Today, were going to review part number s64665 from Swagman. This is a XTC-4 bike rack. Okay, a few things to know about this bicycle rack that it is designed for 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitches only. All right and this bicycle rack can fold up when its not in use. One measurement that will help you out in determining if this will work with your vehicle is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of a wheel loop will measure about 12 inches. This also includes a hitch lock and cable combination.

Well go ahead and install it into the hitch. Then, well go ahead and install the anti-rattle bolt. Now, this bicycle rack does come with two anti-rattle bolts, one locking and one non-locking.On this review well go ahead and use the locking one, so we will go ahead and install the hitch pin and thread it into place. Then, well go ahead and tighten down it. For now, well go ahead and install the lock.

Well go ahead and leave the cable off for now, so you can see how the lock goes onto the pin. At this point we can go ahead and fold down the bike rack. First, there is a pin we have to remove and a clip. We will pull the clip first and then pull out the pin. Then, we can go ahead and lower the bike rack down to the carrying position.

Then, we will go ahead and re-install the pin and then a clip. All right, now we will go onto the wheel loops. As you can see here theyre adjustable on the bar from left and right. Theres a small knob that we have to loosen, so we can adjust them to move them where we want and then we can go ahead and tighten them down to lock them in place. To help hold the bicycle wheel in place theres a strap also in the wheel loop, well show how that works. If you have a strap that snaps onto the wheel loop and it goes through the wheel to secure the bike.Next, well go ahead and raise the center post.

Well release the pin and then pull it up. Then, well go ahead and re-install the pin. All right, we have one done, lets go ahead to the next one and do the same thing. Now, well go ahead and show how the clamps work. They slide down, but you have to release the catch to bring them back up and you can see how we pull on the trigger right here and the teeth release from the post so that you can move it up and down.Okay, on this bike rack there is three points of contact to hold the bike in place: the clamp and the two wheel loops. At this point we can go ahead and load up the bike. Well go ahead and run the clamps up to the top of the post and then well go ahead and get the straps out of the way. When you actually load up a bike its always a good practice to load up from the closest to the vehicle on the way back. We did our bike on the outside edge of the rack; its a little bit easier to see how the bike gets loaded up. Well load up the bike, put the wheel in the wheel loops and bring the clamp down onto the top tube of the bike. Well go ahead and snitch it down and make sure its tight. Then, well go ahead and run the wheel straps through the wheels and then fast them.Next, well go ahead with our security cable. Well take the one end of the security cable and run it through the loop. Well go ahead and take the cable, well run it through the bikes and frame and then run the cable through itself and then onto the locking pin. Okay, and with that, thatll finish it for our review of the Swagman XTC-4 bicycle rack, part number s64665.

Have only had a short time, but so far I am pleased with this rack. Two observations just as a heads-up to potential buyers, not as criticisms: 1) It is quite heavy - but I expected that with a 4-bike rack. I can get it into and out of the hitch on my vehicle solo but I can imagine that it could be challenging as a one-person job for some. 2) It was definitely a some-assembly required item - but the directions that came with it were clear and the assembly was pretty straightforward. As far as loading bikes on the rack, after initial sizing adjustments for your particular bikes, it is a breeze to load and unload bikes - much less work than my hang-from-frame type hitch-mounted racks that I've owned previously or remove-front-wheel/car-top type racks. Bikes seem secure and stable when driving. I haven't had mine fully loaded with four bikes of various adult and kid sizes and gone on a long road trip yet, but my experience with a couple of bikes at a time on 50-mile-ish trips leads me to think this rack will do the job well. 538336

Still a solid rack 1 year in - allows me to haul a variety of different bikes everyone in my family of four has a different size, I have more than one and adjust things pretty quickly and easily to fit the different bikes.

Excellent product! Took it on a weekend tour about 3 hours away to bike and they were solid the entire time. The only thing that takes some time is trying to figure out how the bikes all go on. Once you figure that out, they go on and off very quickly. Well made, sturdy, love how the center arms fold down. It would be nice if someone, the company or consumer would post or put on youtube some bike scenarios so that you can have an idea before you start to try and figure out how 4 bikes will fit together. For example, on the lower racks you put smaller bikes and the end racks you put taller, or one tall one, one small one, and so on. Just a suggestion. It took me a while to figure out the best configuration. 254530

As our family has grown, so have our bikes. We needed an upgrade from our frame mount rack. The XTC4 was an easy decision based on the many product reviews and some careful research. First, shipping was amazing! I ordered it on a Monday, and it was at my door the next day. Assembly took about an hour. Setting up and adjusting for four bikes took about another hour to make sure all bikes would go on and off the same way each time. It fits our fleet of mountain bikes nearly perfectly. It also fits behind our 2012 Honda pilot with room to spare when folded upright. Great product, awesome shipping! 229258

Great product.....especially for the money. I used to have a Yakima rack that would hang the bikes from their cross bar. For women's and children's bikes, it was a nightmare! This rack makes it very easy to load any bike. Plus, it does not scratch the paint. Overall, this is a very nice, easy to use, high quality product. Etrailer was also great to buy from - they upgraded my shipping at no charge and I had the rack within 3 business days. Thanks for a great shopping experience! 6528

I can't believe how quickly I received the bike rack. I ordered it on Monday and got an email Monday that it was shipping. The package arrived at my house on Wednesday; 2 days! I put it together today and installed it to check it out. Easy assembly especially after reading assembly comments and suggestions online while I was shopping. Best advice was to put it on the vehicle before assembling the remaining parts as the vehicle becomes your second set of hands to hold it. I think this will be perfect for our set of mountain, ladies, and kids BMX style bikes as it was tough to load all the different types on my last hanging rack. 59532

Ive used the rack for both trips around town as well as 2 day trips to and from the mountains. Its really solid and holds the bike securely so I dont worry about them at all. Folds up easily when the bikes are removed and then easy to relower when needed again.Really, the only downside is the weight when putting it on the vehicle and taking it off. Its still a one person job and the strength of the unit is worth that. I knew that from other purchaser comments so its something I decided was worth it for the quality of the rack.

This bike rack is very solid and holds the bike very securely; not rattles, no wobbles, no scuffed bikes. It is a bit of a puzzle trying to get four bikes on the rack the first couple times but it is getting easier with practice. I have two adult bikes and two children's bikes which pretty much run the gamut on sizes and the rack holds the smallest just as well as the largest. As has always been my experience, the customer service from etrailer was extremely fast. 89696

Just some kudos to Etrailer and Swagman: somehow the folding pin in my unit got a slight bend in it. After searching for a replacement pin locally in vain, I contacted Etrailer. Tamara responded immediately to my request, but couldnt locate the exact part. So she forwarded on my request to Swagmans home office. Dave at Swagman got right back to me, identified the exact part and sent out a replacement, no charge. He was quite surprised to learn the folding pin had failed. Needless to say, working with Etrailer and Swagman has been greatthey stand behind their products with AMAZING service!!!

It's a great product for the money! Shipped very promptly. Patience is the key when watching the shipping progress and a weekend ensues, but with free shipping, there is no room to complain! Assembly is pretty intuitive. A photo from your web site is a better guide than the figures on the instructions. I've already had four bikes, each with a different frame design, on it and they fit just fine on the rear of a 2013 Dodge Durango R/T. A bit of a close fit with the empty rack folded up but still clears the bumper fascia by 3/4". Just as functional to racks that are over twice as expensive. It's a keeper. I highly recommend it! 148738

Not a lot of miles put on it in the last year. My only complaint is that the security cable eye end is too large to go on the pin with the hitch on my Durango. Other than that its certainly a good product for the price!

I love my Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack. Very simple to put together. In less than an hour you are done. The quality and finish of the rack is superb. You can put different size bikes from children to adult without a problem. Bikes are secure, I have driven at highway speeds without any concern at all. I had a two pole hanging type bike rack before this one and the bikes were getting scratched and I was always concerned of them falling off. The swagman bike rack folds away nicely when not in use and it fits perfectly on my 2005 Honda pilot. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this product. 143258

Received the rack quickly and in perfect condition. We have owned many styles of racks over the last twenty years including Thule, Yakima, frame styles, ankle biters, and roof racks. I am a female in my forties with small children (3 and 6). For the reviewers who state it won't work with smaller bikes I disagree. We have 16 and 20 in. tire bikes as well as a trailer bike. Instead of putting the tire rings as directed, you can place 4 heading in the same direction which allows for a very short wheel bases. With the rings the same direction it will still easily fit an adult men's medium frame bike. We can't make it fit the balance bike, but we fill it with bigger bikes anyway. We had a similar x-port rack but hated the tightening knobs on the frame holder portion. They seemed to often loosen in travel. I love the ratcheting system. Bikes hold securely. If tires flatten in travel I don't worry about the bike hanging by the two tire straps. We do add some padding on the contact point with the frame, but I don't worry about much. We have a tri bike, 2 mountain bikes, 2 road bikes, single speed, fitness bike, 3 kids bikes (16 & 20in.) and a trailer bike. Fits them all. Good solid rack for half the price of Kuat, Thule, and Yakima. It is really easy to place on and off. Dropping the center bar while placing the first bike and raising it after placed makes it easier. We were very glad the locking pin and cable came with the rack. It works well when rack is on the camp trailer but can't use it on the 2007 Yukon. It is easy to use any bike lock to secure bikes to rack frame. Glad we ordered from etrailer. Very happy with our purchase. 189633

I am looking for a tray based rack. I have considered the Kuat NV as it is the Cadillac of racks, but its pricey. Mostly, I need something extremely easy for my wife who is 52 110 lbs. Cant be difficult to loadunload bikes. Eventually our 3 yr old twins will move from 12 wheel balance bikes to 16 bikes. It fits the 16 bikes okay? And, would it work for two 16 kid bikes, a XS frame womens mountain bike w/ 27.5 tires, and a large 20 frame mens bike w/ 29 tires? From your review it sounds like a you have to manage a puzzle to get them all to fit.

Placed my order on a Monday and had my new rack on Friday. While the instructions for assembly could tolerate some improvement they were plenty goood enough to get the job done. Took me about an hour to assmble but I wasn't in a hurry. I attached the rack to my Curt receiver (part #C13105) that I installed on my 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE. Only problem with this setup is insufficient clearance to swing the rack into the full upright storage position. I also have to loosen the handlebars on the bike closest to the van and turn them 90 degrees so they don't touch the back of the van. Both these issues could be solved with a hitch extesion but simple enough to work around without. No biggie. Guess that's the price I pay for having the Curt receiver discretely snuggied up under the bumper. This rack is a serious hunk of steel that does a great job of holding the bikes in place. NO wiggle at all. After test fitting the bikes in place, I'm very confident that the bikes will stay put for a long road trip. Getting all the bikes on the rack and clear of each other does take some experimentation. But once you get it set, it's much faster loading on subsequent trips. The provided locking, anti-rattle pin does a great job of securing the rack to the receiver and makes it all feel like one solid piece. The provided cable lock threads through the bikes and back to the locked anti-rattle pin so nobody can steal your bikes while you're at the hotel, etc. Overall, the construction looks/feels very solid and I really don't see anything where I thought they were trying to save money on construction. This does make the rack a little heavy and it could be challenging for a smaller person to manage. I really like the way this rack holds the bikes from the wheels up as oppposed to hanging off a bar. I was afraid the other style would have the bikes swinging lik e a pedulum. Sorry for the long review, hope there's some helpful information in here some of you. 36068

This rack is shipped WITH a threaded locking hitch pin AND a 6 ft plastic-wrapped steel cable, so don't waste your money buying these accesories!! etrailer.com is blissfully unaware of this fact and you'll be responsible for the return shipping because they refuse to admit they know nothing of the products they sell-they just try to sell needless additional accessories! Don't get sucked in!!! That being said, the rack itself is decent for the money. I could've gotten it slightly cheaper elsewhere but was happy with a previous purchase from etrailer-NOT THIS TIME! It is heavy, bulky, and time consuming to get 4 bikes aligned on it properly. My wife would certainly not be able to load it herself. Once all the work's done it does travel well, though. If you're looking for a rack that secures the bikes safely-this is the way to go. It makes no difference what angle the bike's crossbar is at (or if it's a ladies crossbar), this rack will accomodate any style or size bike. This kind of rack makes much more sense than the "hanging" types unless you have 4 identical bikes in the same frame size. Looking forward to many years of use as it appears to be well-made. Just don't buy it from etrailer! 34807

Loads and unloads bikes super fast, and holds them firm. Wish I would have purchased this a long time ago instead of struggling with my old frame mount rack. I actually ride more because I don't dread having to load. Adjusts to different bikes easily. Time will tell if the fittings, springs, straps hold up to weather (I leave it on car). It is fairly large and heavier than the more expensive 4 bike racks (it's mostly steel vs. composite plastic), so if you are going to take it off hitch and store it - be prepared. Only recommendation I have is to add softer foam on the frame bar for traveling on rough roads. 149717

Comments

The rack works well. Use it often. 4 bikes is key.Since I dont leave it on the hitch, my only issue with it is the weight when taking it on and off. But I knew that going in, and was working to a price point, which precluded lighter manufacturers.

This is a very nice piece of hardware for what I need. I wanted a carrier built well enough to haul 4 bikes several hundred miles without damage. I also was impressed that it gives a little extra clearance at the back, because of how it angles up from the pavement. I am using this unit with a Nissan Rogue, and my U-Haul hitch doesn't come out quite far enough to allow it to swing into the upright position. I emailed etrailer for a solution, and their answer was extremely thorough and helpful. (I will need to get a hitch extender with an anti rattle device; I just haven't done that yet.) Dealing with etrailer.com was fantastic. This is a SUPER professional, courteous group to deal with; they're education- and service-oriented. More online businesses should pattern themselves after etrailer's model. You can't help but want to do more business with them! 157260

Comments

I bought the hitch extender and anti rattle device, which worked perfectly. I took four bikes on a 1,000 mile trip, with not a scratch to a bike or my car. Ive used the bike rack numerous times since then for short trips. I am every bit as excited about this carrier as the day I bought it. It is as solid as a rock!

Bought the Draw-Tite trailer hits together with the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack. Bought based on reviews on e-trailer and other sites that this is a sturdy and good-working combination for carrying 4 bikes. * Delivery: Fast (<5 days) * Packaging: Package had holes, which is not unusual as the box with the hitch has a lot of empty spaces. Others had same issue, but nothing to worry about. The hitch cannot really break easily and the hardware is safely stored in the 2inch receiver. * Installation: Very nice video instructions on etrailer. Installation really can use two people, but it's fairly easy with two people. Had some problems with one of the nine screws to bite although I did a try run before mounting the hitch. Worked after some minutes of wiggling the hitch so that the screw got the correct angle to bite. * Usage: Installed the day of delivery and used it the next day. It's the first time I used a trailer hitch and for sure the first time I used to carry 4 bikes. Stopped looking in the rear-view mirror after 1 minutes seeing that it's barely moving at all. So with a limited use so far I can confirm other's reviews of this combination and I think it works great. Recommended. 360822

If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know. 63607

This is an awesome bike rack. At 52 and 115 pounds I can load and unload the bikes myself. That said, even with a lock on the rack securing it to the hitch, someone stole the rack off the back of our car over night. Just wanted to warn the rest of you as I order another.

Our Swagman XTC4 hitch bike rack works very well, but compared to our previous bike racks, it is extremely heavy and difficult to take on and off the vehicle. As such, my wife is unable to use the rack when I'm not around. It is too large to leave on the vehicle all the time, so unfortunately, we have not used it near as much as we had hoped to. Additionally, the clamps that hold the frame down rub on the frame during long trips, so we learned the hard way that you need to put some type of pad (towel, rag, etc) between the clamp and the bike frame to keep from rubbing off the paint on your bike. The assembly instructions that came with the bike rack were extremely difficult to use, so we ended up figuring it out on our own, after much trial and error. They need to significantly update their assembly instructions! We are in the process of evaluating other bike racks to see what else will meet our needs. 564427

Comments

From what Swagman tells us, if theres an issue with the frame hooks causing wear on the bikes frame, its typically caused by the hooks being pushed down too hard. The wheel straps do the majority of the job of keeping the bikes on the rack, the frame hooks are used to keep the bikes upright. The hooks only need to be pushed down far enough to touch the bike frame, and no farther than that.

Very solid rack. No movement. No more than a minute to load each bike. Holds four bikes with comfort. It’s big, and heavy, but that’s what it takes to carry four bikes without being scary. 652772

This is a heavy bike rack that holds 3 bikes tightly. Two problems I found on the first use were: the racks upright arm base (when folded down) hits the Lincoln MKX bumper before it is in the raised position, and two bikes cannot fit between two upright arms with pedal and handle bar interference. Maybe, by removing the hold down hooks, and folding the upright down then loading the bike, then folding it back up it could be done, if the pedals don't interfere. 576689

Put this together in about 30 min and looooooooove how easy it is to load 4 bikes!! Two adult bikes(one road) two kids! Incredibly sturdy while driving along the winding mountain roads! If the $1000 racks are easier/better I'd like to know just how much to justify the price!! Super happy with this purchase and the staff at etrailer! 557720

This has been a great purchase for our family as it more easily allows us to bike ride in areas of town we would not normally be able to because of the distance from our house. Assembling it took about an hour, but was easy to accomplish. In addition, putting it on and taking it off of the van takes about ten minutes to include loading the bicycles. I am not disappointed in purchasing this product and will strongly consider both Swagman and etrailer.com for future purchases. 546193

The XTC4 4- bike rack is an excellent bike rack if you need to carry 4 bicycles. It folds up so it’s easy to store in my garage almost flat up against a wall. Since it folds up it’s also easy to carry by myself and insert into the hitch without somebody to help me. It holds the bikes securely and is very sturdy. I’m glad I chose this bike rack and would definitely recommend it to others. 503570

Very high quality, works perfectly. Worth every dollar. Have used this on the back of a 34’ travel trailer. Do not have to “hope” the bike will still be there when we stop for the night. Very well engineered, tie downs the are configurable, and secure. This hitch is second to none. 438259

This hitch bike rack was for my wife. She picked it out because it held the bike from the wheels instead of the handle bars and because it held four bikes. Little did she know that the rack was so heavy that she can hardly lift the rack up to put it on the car. She has not even used it yet because she would have to find someone to put it on the car for her. The rack is very nice just can't use it. I no longer live with her so I am not able to help her. 430246

Unless you plan to only - ever - carry adult men's bikes - go ahead and buy any bike rack. If you might carry a ladies or any kids bike, read this..... After struggling to get a variety of adult and kids bikes to fit in other racks, I almost cancelled our family bike trip. My neighbor saw me struggling with two different racks I bought from a larger retailer and the other from a bike shop... neither worked. He suggested I borrow his Swagman 4 place bike rack - amazing - all the bikes fit!! After saving the family bike trip, I came home and bought my own - it arrived 3 days later.... can't wait to get this one on the back of our SUV and get the kids out biking the great trails near our home. 411482

This rack is very sturdy, but at the cost of being very heavy which, if you're going to install it to your hitch and leave it there isn't a big deal. However, that wasn't my plan, so I've never installed it to a hitch or used it in the year we've owned it. 404064

What we like about it: Easy on-off for 3 bikes; adjustable; folds up when not needed; transports very securely. Lock built in to bike rack offers mental security as well. What we don't like: hard to get 4th bike on--have to be strategic about placement of bikes/directions they are pointing, to fit 2 adult & 2 kid bikes, one with stunt spikes. Also, when it's up you can't access cargo space at all, and when it's down, it's hard to access the cargo space b/c the bike rack gets in the way of opening/reaching into it. And when flipped up (not using), it still sticks out quite a bit, making it hard to park in tight spaces. it's not very difficult to remove it, but it's heavy. Finally, one of our adjustable "hooks" (the part that hooks over the middle of the bike to secure it) doesn't adjust easily--need 2 hands' strength to squeeze it hard enough to get it to move. It's been this way since we first got it. For these reasons, can't give it 5 stars--but we give it 4 b/c we think as we use it more we'll get the strategy down, and the convenience and security and clever design make it worth 4/5 stars. We've definitely done more family biking since we bought it and that was the goal. 386797

So far, so good. The rack came on time in perfect condition. Took about an hour to assemble. Drove 150+ miles with it the next day with 4 bikes and it worked awesome. etrailer also honored their lowest price guarantee and gave me a refund since I found a lower price on another site. So glad they could beat another site! 380996

Very easy to assemble. Took about 25 minutes. Unfortunately you will need to read the instructions as the pictures are a bit small :0). Very stable with all bikes loaded. Fits all our family's different size bikes with ease. I did not expect a locking cable, so that was a very nice addition. I would recommend purchasing the wall mount. 363399

We love our swagman 4 bike rack! Easy to use, put on and take off, though it is rarely off of my vehicle as we bike and race a great deal. It has faded due to this and from the Florida sun, but has held up very well. 348642

Sturdy product from an exceptionally run internet site. The detailed reviews and videos at etrailer.com made me confident that this bike rack would be the right one for me and the delivery was prompt as others have reported. Refreshing to see a business run so well in an age where most sites are not nearly as complete and informative. This Swagman rack holds my bikes rock solid and is easy to load and unload. I would not pay more for another rack as this met all my needs. 297467

I purchased this bike rack about a year ago and was looking for something that could easily carry four bikes of different sizes for my family that didn't cost a small fortune like some other popular names out there. It only took me about an hour to assemble and once you figure out the best arrangements for the bikes, it's a breeze. I would give this rack 5 stars accept for one issue I am having (which isn't entirely the racks fault). I drive a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali and the way that the vehicle is designed with the hitch and tail light plug for trailers doesn't give you any extra leeway when attempting to put in the anti-wiggle locking pin with the bike cable and locking mechanism. The pin that comes with the rack it just about 1" to 1.5"'s to long to easily install the rack, bike lock cable and locking pin. I actually called Swagman themselves and they know about the issues but don't offer a shorter locking anti-wiggle pin. So instead, I have been using a regular hitch pin and then taking the rack off and laying it in the back of my SUV...not the greatest of solutions. I just don't want someone stealing it off the back of my suv while we are out riding. 288593

This rack is very versatile. It holds our bikes securely and does not allow them to bump into each other. It takes a little bit of time to get it configured to fit your bikes the first time, but it is very quick to load after that. It is well built, and a good value. 282166

- S64665
by:

This thing is well made. As others have said, the Toyota Sienna does not allow the rack to lock into the upright position. You need to buy a hitch extension. It definitely keeps the bikes stable with 3 points of contact, keeps the gears and cables clear and keeps the bikes from rubbing together. 280642

by:

The bike rack is a bit heavier than I expected but I won't have to worry about it rattling around on the back of my trailer or breaking. Very stout rack. Not recommended to be mounted to the bumper of a trailer. Pay the money and have a receiver welded into the trailer I-beam or frame to take the loads. The weld on my bumper cracked. I've dealt with etrailer many times before and as always I'm happy with the delivery, service and product. Thanks for doing it right. 278926

The platform looks really good on the car. Easy to assemble but will require an extension to Your hex key so keep that in mind. Very quiet and practically no rattle sound or any unwanted movement. Bikes do look very secure and do not move at all. Very good product for the price. 277783

Outstanding product and worth the money. Unpacked this, assembled easily, and loaded it up for 1000 mile roundtrip the next day on our 2013 Chevy Traverse. Very secure and stable - no noise or rattles - everything is snug - excellent quality. Locking hitch pin and locking cable included for great security. And kudos to Etrailer - I waited until the last minute - paid for 2 day shipping and got it in about 28 hours - great service! I will be ordering the 2 bike version for my son to replace the cheap noisy one that he has. 272854

Solid trailer, not too difficult to put together. After putting it together I took a 100 mile trip with four bikes and it worked great. Two tips from others helped. I installed in "on the car" (and was able to do it by myself) and I took some time to put the bikes in the order we would always load it (with our current four bikes), essentially "setting" the wheel holders to the exact bike. Great product and great price. 257932

A year later, it is a good, basic rack, but a few things have us looking for another/different rack: weight, the ability to hold the bikes without anything touching the frame there were some slight blemishes where the clamp that holds the bike rubbed the frame - I might have had them too tight, but we upgraded to nicer bikes so want a non-touch option, and the ability to get into our van with the bikes on - a feature found on higher priced models. But I was generally pleased with how the rack performed over the last year.

Thanks for the follow up Lance. I have included a link to our current offerings for 4 bike platform racks that we currently offer. I have narrowed this listing to include only bike racks that are considered wheel mount and do not have frame contact, and that offer a tilting feature.

Its prob still one of the best racks for 4 bikes however we haven’t used it very often as it has some drawbacks*Takes a long time to get all 4 bikes on. Its a very tight fit and its a bit of a puzzle making sure the pedals are all in the right spot to enable all the bikes to fit.*Even though the rack has a slight upward angle to it the end of the horizontal piece hits the ground when going down steeper slopes, e.g. driveways etc. Thats because our we are in a BMW SUV which is lower than an SUV. Would be nice to have a slightly steeper angle to avoid this issue. Despite all that I still think it’s prob the best option available.

  • Recommended 4-Bike Platform Rack That Allows 2012 Lexus GX 460 to Open Rear Door
  • Thank you for all the information, it was very helpful. I went to our demo room to take some measurements of the Swagman XTC-4 # S64665 and based on those would not be able to confirm it would allow a 2012 Lexus GX 460 to open the rear door. If you use the attached photo (which shows the Swagman, but not on a Lexus GX 460) as a reference, you can see that at the highest point, the XTC-4 is going to be roughly 28" above the ground on a 2012 Lexus GX 460. Given a margin of error of roughly...

For a similar bike rack that uses arms to secure the bikes and comes with bike and rack locks I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z which does allow you to keep your bikes loaded while you use the tilt feature.
