Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The XTC4's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Hoops

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The rack has wheel hoops that provide a stable base for mounting your bikes. Each hoop has a hand knob that lets you easily slide it along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. It also includes a rubber strap on each hoop that secures your bike's wheels to the rack. If you need to carry fat bikes, there are hoops (sold separately) that let you carry bikes with tires up to 5" wide.

Folding Design

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike CarrierSwagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold the masts down for access to your rear cargo area. Just pull the spring-loaded release lever at the base of each mast and fold them down. You can also fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. Pull the pin at the base of the rack, fold it up against your vehicle, and reinsert the pin in the hole at the bottom of the rack.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

A braided-steel cable lock secures your bikes to the rack. It has a vinyl coating that protects your bikes from scratches and scuffs. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle. The hitch pin works with a built-in anti-wobble device in the shank to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport.

Having two children the sliding trays make it great to fit all sized bikes, and it easily adjusts, so this works perfectly for our family. For the price this bike rack is awesome. You are able to easily move it up / down to access the tailgate without taking it off of the car. I’ve already recommended this to several of our friends.

Comments
This bike rack has been great for our family. It is easy to take up and down to utilize the back tailgate of our suv. It has also been perfect with our childrens bikes sizes styles changing, we can easily adjust to accommodate everyones bike. However the best part is the lock that attaches right to the hitch, a nice piece of mind when traveling.

Bought this bike rack on sale during Memorial Day weekend. Reviews have always seemed good. So I jumped at the chance to buy a quality 4 place platform bike rack [on sale]. However it took a long time to get as the company (Swagman) shutdown during the Covid shutdowns. I finally received it early July. Very well built, solid bike rack. I used it on our western trip to Colorado. Bikes stayed tight and did not loosen up the entire trip both ways! I didn’t worry after I seen they were still solid at the first fuel stop. Love the ratcheting frame holding clamps. I did have to purchase the fat tire hoops for my sons bike. And they too were well made. Love that the rack comes with a cable and lock to lock the bikes and rack to the vehicle. I highly recommend this rack. It’s only down fall is that you can’t open the tailgate with bikes on it. But for the $$$ I can overlook that. It does fold up and out of the way for driving without bikes. Only a couple of negatives.....it is a heavy rack (which is a good thing). And also bulky which can make it hard to store for some people. It does stick out rather far, approx 4ft. I put some reflective tape on the end supports for people to see. And you cannot access the rear tailgate area (see above). I had a 4 bike hanging rack for many years. Never realized how much I hated that until I used this one. No damage to the bikes. They don’t bounce around. Just an all around better way to haul bikes.

The other reviews were very fair. The rack is sturdy so the trade off is that it’s pretty heavy. I’m ok with it but my wife won’t be able to swap it between the CR-V and Ascent. The instructions leave a lot to be desired but you get the hang of it fast enough through trial and error. It took me an hour to assemble and another hour to mount it to the hitch, adjust the hoops for each of our bikes, and get everything dialed in. PLENTY of clearance backing out of the driveway which was a nice little surprise. I’m adding a picture to confirm that a beginner bike, cruiser, and hybrid mountain all fit just fine.

We just recently have been able to use our bike rack due to uncharacteristic weather for this time of year in Pennsylvania. I will say that it is very sturdy and easy to use. It hauls our four bikes with no problem.

Comments
Best bike rack that I have owned. This bike rack is well worth the money spent, it is sturdy and it really secures the bikes whether I am toting one or four. Other bike racks that I have owned seemed flimsy and I worried that I would lose a bike during transport but not with rack. If I ever need another bike rack I’ll definately purchase a Swagman.

Generally like this trailer, great value and strong. Have moved my family of four bikes around on it for a year. I only remove one star because its heavy and thus a little difficult to take on and off, also 27+ tires are A little tight fit, but overall its a good and durable trailer for 4 bikes. My other recommendation is to get your 4 bikes loaded and keep a picture of them. Its best to get it set up for a specific load order and direction and keep the bikes in that order.

Comments
Still working after a year. Install is getting tighter now that my kids are growing into full size bikes, but we still use the rack regularly and its holding up well!

This rack was purchased during the pandemic. Every other company was unable to get me this rack, including Swagman, which is the manufacturer of this bike rack. Etrailer not only was able to get me this Awesome bike rack, they also had it on sale and a special promotion with free shipping. To top it off, I also received it almost 2 weeks earlier than the original shipping order said I would receive it. I appreciate everyone in your Company from the Excellent customer service to the early delivery of the product. You can rest assured that I will be using your website for any future trailer needs. Thank you very much. Kindest regards, Jay Hanson

The value for the price is fantastic. Owned it for a year now. I put the thing together myself, and it was simple and one person can do it. Once assembled it's a bit heavy for me but I am 110lbs wet so I am not blaming the product. It's super easy to install once put together. For me that means one of my teens guides the trailer into the hitch and I install the pin. Quick and easy. I take it off during winter and it fits nicely into a corner of my garage. It folds up nicely. I have no complaints.

Great rack. Easy on and off. Once you get your positioning and bike order it's even faster. Traveled all over the east coast with my family and our four bikes never had any problems or a bike even out of place. The lock is great too. Only down side is that it is heavy. This is a great bike rack at this price point.

If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know.

Comments
This is an awesome bike rack. At 52 and 115 pounds I can load and unload the bikes myself. That said, even with a lock on the rack securing it to the hitch, someone stole the rack off the back of our car over night. Just wanted to warn the rest of you as I order another.

We purchased the Swagman XTC4 because is was RV rated. It works excellent. The bikes stays stable and safe. You can trust you most expensive bike with this rack. Highly recommended.

- S64665
by:

Loads and unloads bikes super fast, and holds them firm. Wish I would have purchased this a long time ago instead of struggling with my old frame mount rack. I actually ride more because I don't dread having to load. Adjusts to different bikes easily. Time will tell if the fittings, springs, straps hold up to weather (I leave it on car). It is fairly large and heavier than the more expensive 4 bike racks (it's mostly steel vs. composite plastic), so if you are going to take it off hitch and store it - be prepared. Only recommendation I have is to add softer foam on the frame bar for traveling on rough roads.

Comments
The rack works well. Use it often. 4 bikes is key.Since I dont leave it on the hitch, my only issue with it is the weight when taking it on and off. But I knew that going in, and was working to a price point, which precluded lighter manufacturers.

I can't believe how quickly I received the bike rack. I ordered it on Monday and got an email Monday that it was shipping. The package arrived at my house on Wednesday; 2 days! I put it together today and installed it to check it out. Easy assembly especially after reading assembly comments and suggestions online while I was shopping. Best advice was to put it on the vehicle before assembling the remaining parts as the vehicle becomes your second set of hands to hold it. I think this will be perfect for our set of mountain, ladies, and kids BMX style bikes as it was tough to load all the different types on my last hanging rack.

Comments
Ive used the rack for both trips around town as well as 2 day trips to and from the mountains. Its really solid and holds the bike securely so I dont worry about them at all. Folds up easily when the bikes are removed and then easy to relower when needed again.Really, the only downside is the weight when putting it on the vehicle and taking it off. Its still a one person job and the strength of the unit is worth that. I knew that from other purchaser comments so its something I decided was worth it for the quality of the rack.

I love my Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack. Very simple to put together. In less than an hour you are done. The quality and finish of the rack is superb. You can put different size bikes from children to adult without a problem. Bikes are secure, I have driven at highway speeds without any concern at all. I had a two pole hanging type bike rack before this one and the bikes were getting scratched and I was always concerned of them falling off. The swagman bike rack folds away nicely when not in use and it fits perfectly on my 2005 Honda pilot. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this product.

Very sturdy bike rack. Bikes don't move at all. Takes some time to put together. Directions are horrible. Very happy with this purchase. Recommend taking some pictures after you have the bikes on. Took some time To get all four bikes on( puzzle) with the pedals And different size bikes.

This bike rack is very solid and holds the bike very securely; not rattles, no wobbles, no scuffed bikes. It is a bit of a puzzle trying to get four bikes on the rack the first couple times but it is getting easier with practice. I have two adult bikes and two children's bikes which pretty much run the gamut on sizes and the rack holds the smallest just as well as the largest. As has always been my experience, the customer service from etrailer was extremely fast.

Just some kudos to Etrailer and Swagman: somehow the folding pin in my unit got a slight bend in it. After searching for a replacement pin locally in vain, I contacted Etrailer. Tamara responded immediately to my request, but couldnt locate the exact part. So she forwarded on my request to Swagmans home office. Dave at Swagman got right back to me, identified the exact part and sent out a replacement, no charge. He was quite surprised to learn the folding pin had failed. Needless to say, working with Etrailer and Swagman has been greatthey stand behind their products with AMAZING service!!!

We've used this bike rack with our '14 Sienna for over a year now and it works wonderfully. I especially appreciate the way the rack folds against the back of the van when not in use. After many hours of research before making this purchase, I could not be more happy with this rack.

- S64665
by:

Overall for the money you can’t beat it! I use this ~4x/week and recommend it to everyone over the $1k competitors. I never use the rubber straps because the bar is all you need (even off-roading to a trail head). It takes a bit of getting used to for adding the 3rd bike, but you just need to slide the hooks off the vertical post and put them back on after the bike is in place.

- S64665
by:

As our family has grown, so have our bikes. We needed an upgrade from our frame mount rack. The XTC4 was an easy decision based on the many product reviews and some careful research. First, shipping was amazing! I ordered it on a Monday, and it was at my door the next day. Assembly took about an hour. Setting up and adjusting for four bikes took about another hour to make sure all bikes would go on and off the same way each time. It fits our fleet of mountain bikes nearly perfectly. It also fits behind our 2012 Honda pilot with room to spare when folded upright. Great product, awesome shipping!

by:

Great rack for the price! The rack has worked great for our 4 family bikes. It took a little time to set up to make it as easy to load as possible but has worked great since. Rugged and easy enough to move for one person.

This trailer is awesome. After owning it for 5 months I can say that it holds 4 bikes without problems. it is sturdy, well made and It holds very different types and sizes of bicycles which is my case. Cons: You cannot open the back door of your car when the bicycles are in place or when the trailer is completely folded. The trailer has two positions in which it can be partially unfolded and you can open the rear door of your car or suv though. Other brands do, with the disadvantage of not being able to carry four bicycles comfortably. I recommend this product for people in need to carry four bicycles !

Our Swagman XTC4 hitch bike rack works very well, but compared to our previous bike racks, it is extremely heavy and difficult to take on and off the vehicle. As such, my wife is unable to use the rack when I'm not around. It is too large to leave on the vehicle all the time, so unfortunately, we have not used it near as much as we had hoped to. Additionally, the clamps that hold the frame down rub on the frame during long trips, so we learned the hard way that you need to put some type of pad (towel, rag, etc) between the clamp and the bike frame to keep from rubbing off the paint on your bike. The assembly instructions that came with the bike rack were extremely difficult to use, so we ended up figuring it out on our own, after much trial and error. They need to significantly update their assembly instructions! We are in the process of evaluating other bike racks to see what else will meet our needs.

Comments
From what Swagman tells us, if theres an issue with the frame hooks causing wear on the bikes frame, its typically caused by the hooks being pushed down too hard. The wheel straps do the majority of the job of keeping the bikes on the rack, the frame hooks are used to keep the bikes upright. The hooks only need to be pushed down far enough to touch the bike frame, and no farther than that.

Not good! Weve taken it off of our vehicle and are looking at other brands that are easier to use, weigh less and arent so big and bulky.
John - 01/25/2020

I'm sorry to hear the Swagman XTC4 isn't working out as you hoped. For a 4-bike rack that weighs less, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack # HR4000
Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
$349.99
. This rack comes in at 42 lbs compared to the XTC4's 59 lbs. If you're looking for a bike rack with more options and is still a platform carrier, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Platform Rack # HR1400Z
Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
$549.99
. This racks 2-piece design allows it to carry 2 bikes or 4, depending on the amount of space you need. The 2 piece design also makes the rack easier and lighter to install when in the 2 bike configuration.

Product is heavy duty. As with all bike racks the first use takes some time to get bikes organized and placed in the correct order but after that it is a breeze. Works fantastic. Tremendous customer service by etrailer. Some parts got lost in shipping (no fault of etrailer) but they sent out replacements ASAP. Don’t usually see great customer service and great prices you can only get one or the other but they nailed it!!

- S64665

Bike rack is great, we like mounting them lower than the other type of ack that makes you try to get the bars woven through the frames. The rack had a bent bar and retailer shipped us a new one very easily with no questions asked as soon as I emailed them with the problem. New one came quickly and they’ve been a breeze and knowledgable to work with.

The platform looks really good on the car. Easy to assemble but will require an extension to Your hex key so keep that in mind. Very quiet and practically no rattle sound or any unwanted movement. Bikes do look very secure and do not move at all. Very good product for the price.

Bought the Draw-Tite trailer hits together with the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack. Bought based on reviews on e-trailer and other sites that this is a sturdy and good-working combination for carrying 4 bikes. * Delivery: Fast (<5 days) * Packaging: Package had holes, which is not unusual as the box with the hitch has a lot of empty spaces. Others had same issue, but nothing to worry about. The hitch cannot really break easily and the hardware is safely stored in the 2inch receiver. * Installation: Very nice video instructions on etrailer. Installation really can use two people, but it's fairly easy with two people. Had some problems with one of the nine screws to bite although I did a try run before mounting the hitch. Worked after some minutes of wiggling the hitch so that the screw got the correct angle to bite. * Usage: Installed the day of delivery and used it the next day. It's the first time I used a trailer hitch and for sure the first time I used to carry 4 bikes. Stopped looking in the rear-view mirror after 1 minutes seeing that it's barely moving at all. So with a limited use so far I can confirm other's reviews of this combination and I think it works great. Recommended.

  • Can the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack be Folded Up with No Bikes on a 2014 Toyota Sienna
The Swagman XTC4, part # S64665, only has about 3-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when it's folded up. When we installed the etrailer hitch you have, part # e98853, on a 2014 Toyota Sienna we measured 4 inches from the pin hole to the outermost point on the bumper. So you won't be able to fold this rack up on your van. We also received a review from a customer with a 2011 who purchased the XTC4 and he cannot fold his up. I recommend taking a look at...

  • 4-Bike Rack Recommendation for Rear of Travel Trailer
At the back of trailers the ride quality is much rougher than at the rear of vehicles due to the increased distance between the rear axle and the rear of the vehicle and the much less sophisticated suspension. It's not the way the rack attaches to the rear of the vehicle so much as it is the harshness that ends up stressing the rack too much. That is why you'd have to look into a different 4 bike rack for your travel trailer and not the XTC4 you mentioned. There are no platform racks...

  • Recommended 4-Bike Platform Rack That Allows 2012 Lexus GX 460 to Open Rear Door
Thank you for all the information, it was very helpful. I went to our demo room to take some measurements of the Swagman XTC-4 # S64665 and based on those would not be able to confirm it would allow a 2012 Lexus GX 460 to open the rear door. If you use the attached photo (which shows the Swagman, but not on a Lexus GX 460) as a reference, you can see that at the highest point, the XTC-4 is going to be roughly 28" above the ground on a 2012 Lexus GX 460. Given a margin of error of roughly...

  • Can the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack Be Used With a Hitch Expander
The Swagman XTC4 4 Bike Rack # S64665 can be used with a hitch adapter, like the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HTAD. However, there are some things to consider with a hitch adapter. When using a hitch adapter, the tongue weight of your vehicle's hitch will be reduced by 50 percent. So if your trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds, with a hitch adapter it will have a tongue weight of 100 pounds. This means that the bike rack and all bikes loaded will need to weigh less than...

  • Will Swagman XTC4 Platform Style 4-Bike Rack # S64665 Work on 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350
As long as your 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350 is equipped with a 2 inch hitch receiver, the Swagman XTC4 Platform Style 4-Bike Rack, # S64665, will work for you. To ensure that there is adequate distance to have the option to fold the rack against your vehicle when not in use, you will need to measure the distance from the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of your bumper. If the distance is less than 3-1/2 inches, you will be able to use the rack's folding feature.

  • Hitch-Mount 4-Bike Platform Carrier for Use on 2014 Mazda CX-5
Your 2014 Mazda CX-5 can be fitted with two sizes/classes of trailer hitch, either a 1-1/4-inch Class II or a 2-inch Class III type, but since you are looking into 4-bike platform carriers I will trust that you have a higher-capacity 2-inch hitch. If not, please let me know. One important consideration for any hitch rack is the clearance needed for it to safely clear the rear-most part of your vehicle. In this case that will be the bumper. Bike racks offer varying amounts of clearance...

  • Will the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack Work On a 2010 Acura MDX With Dual Exhaust
The Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack part # S64665 is an excellent option for a 2010 Acura MDX. The bike rack has an extended shank so the first bike should be far enough away from the exhaust to not cause any issues. There won't be any issues with adult mountain bikes either so you will be good to go.

  • Malone Runway HM4 VS Swagman XTC4
First off, the Swagman XTC4 # S64665 is motorhome approved so it is a bit more sturdy than the Runway HM4 # MAL82VR. The Swagman also has the bike cradles inclined up to gain more ground clearance as the Runway does not. All in all I would recommend the XTC4 to you as you're used to the Swagman Products and it seems that it fits your needs more than the Runway HM4.

  • Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Carrier Recommendation for a 2013 Honda Odyssey
I have a solution for you, however, the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack, # S64665, will most likely hit your bumper when folded up on your 2013 Honda Odyssey. The bike rack I recommend for you is the Swagman Quad 2+2 Bike Rack, # S64692. This bike rack measures 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the bike rack when folded up. To verify that this will work on your Odyssey, I recommend measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch to the...

  • Recommending Four-Bike Platform Rack Among Hollywood, Swagman and Malone
The most bang for your buck is going to be the Hollywood Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z, which, like the Swagman Quad # S64692 and Malone Pilot # MPG2112-2115 is a tilt-away, fold-up rack that uses ratcheting hooks and wheel holders to keep the bikes steady. The Hollywood does this for less but still provides an anti-rattle device, a hitch lock so the rack is secured to your vehicle, and a cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. So do the Swagman and Malone, though they are pricier....

  • Recommendation for Bike Rack on Mercedes E350 and SLK
The Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Carrier, part # S64665, you referenced, is designed to be used on a Class lll hitch. Your 2010 Mercedes E350 is rated for a class l hitch, so you would need to make certain you consider a class l bike carrier. Although there are a few 4 bike carriers that will fit a class l hitch, when a class l hitch is installed, only 2 bikes can be carried. Keep in mind that any carrier you wish to consider for your Mercedes needs to be a class l carrier. You will need...

  • Will the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack Fit a 2012 Toyota RAV4 with Spare Tire
The Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches part # S64665 will fit a 2012 Toyota RAV4. That said, you would not be able to fold the rack up for storage because of the rear spare tire. However, if you were to add an extender/swing-away adapter you would be able to fold the bike rack up for storage and swing it away from the vehicle to get into the rear hatch. The most cost effective swing-away adapter we offer is the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender part # Y02483 which will work...

  • Recommendations to Secure the Swagman XTC 4 Bike Rack # S64665 to a Trailer Hitch
There is a simple solution that also has additional functions. What you can do is use a cable lock, like # e98891 to secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to the hitch by passing it through the safety chain loops on the trailer hitch. The pin in the pivot point on the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack, # S64665, is slight larger than 7/16 inches. At this time, we do not have a recommendation for a locking pin that size.

  • Recommended 4-Bike Rack for a 2012 Coachmen Mirada
I have two great 4-bike rack options for your 2012 Coachmen Mirada. The best one for you will really depend on what type of bikes you have. If you have kid's or women's bikes then you will want to go with a platform style bike rack, I recommend the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack part # S64665 because it has an anti-rattle hitch lock to help stabilize the bike rack and your bikes. It also comes with a cable lock for your bikes to prevent theft. If you are not using the bike rack you can fold it...

  • Which 4 Bike Platform Rack is Better, The Swagman S64665 or the SportRack A30902
I would choose the Swagman S64665 over the SportRack part # A30902LR in this case, hands down. The Swagman base is a bit heavier. They are both steel racks, so they would not hold up as well as an aluminum rack would, but I think the Swagman finish will hold up better. The biggest difference is the upright posts. The SportRack uses a tension knob that tightens a plastic clamp. The Swagman uses ratcheting hooks that lock into teeth along the uprights of the rack. People have trouble with...
