Video Transcript for Review of Roadmaster Hy Power Diodes - RM-792

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at these Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes. Now, diodes permit electrical current to flow in only one direction, from the motor home to the car. That's going to prevent electrical feedback and the damage it can cause to the towed car's electrical components. So you are going to get what you see here.

You're gonna get these two diodes. It's gonna help reduce wiring hassles. It's gonna be a trouble-free operation. It's going to include instructions. The maximum load is 85 amps per diode.

And just a brief note, four diodes are required for most applications. One left turn brake and one right turn brake, and then two for taillights, each side. So just so you are aware of that, again, you will get two, so if you need to get two more, make sure to adjust the quantity on this order. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.

Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • Recommended Flat Tow Setup for Blue Ox Tow Bar on 2008 Honda CR-V
For your 2008 Honda CR-V, you will want to start with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2246 which will be directly compatible with your tow bar. The tow bar you are describing is likely the old alpha or avail model, either of which will work just fine. If you want to determine which model you have, you can find it printed on the driver's side leg under the latch handle according to my contact at Blue Ox. If you don't have the safety chains, you will also want # BX88196....

To do a diode style of tow bar lighting for your vehicle using the Roadmaster Invisibrake # RM-8700 you need is 4 diodes to follow the install diagram that you referenced which I also attached to this page. So you'd need a quantity of 2 of the part # RM-792.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2009 or 2010 Honda CR-V
To flat tow your 2010 Honda CR-V you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and most likely a high-low adapter. I recommend going with the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-521559-4. This will work great with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 and the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643 which are both rated for 6,000 lbs. For your vehicle tow bar wiring I highly recommend the Roadmaster Diode...

  • Flat Tow Wiring for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler
The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, part # RM-15267, is the best option for you to use to flat tow your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. It will provide a 6-Way wiring harness to the front of your Wrangler that you can connect to the 7-Way on your RV with the included Flexo-Coil cord. If your Wrangler has separate lighting you will need to use a wiring converter, part # 118158, along with 2 additional diodes, part # RM-792, to keep your turn and brake signals separate. If...

  • What Do I Need To Flat Tow A 2017 Buick Envision
Yes, the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch part # RM76512 will work on your 2017 Buick Envision and is also recommended to be used while flat towing this vehicle. In order to flat tow your vehicle with 4 wheels down, you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, supplemental braking system, wiring harness, and possible high-low adapter. I will attach my recommendation for each of these components below. For a base plate kit designed to fit your vehicle, I recommend the...

  • Recommendation For Flat Towing a 2005 PT Cruiser Behind An RV
The items needed to tow your 2005 PT Cruiser will include base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, a braking system, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter. For your 2005 PT Cruiser, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Item # 278-1 because it is designed for your vehicle. It also has twistlock brackets that are virtually invisible and can be removed. The Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar, Item # RM-522, is a great choice that fits the Roadmaster XL Base Plate. • Troubleshooting Installing Tow Bar Wiring On a Vehicle w/ Separate Brake Signal And Turn Signals
Hey Michael, welcome back! Since your 2020 Ram 1500 has separate brake and turn signals you're also going to need the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter item # 118158 and two extra diodes item # RM-792. The four diodes included with the Demco 4-Diode Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles item # DM9523010-54 aren't capable of separating those signals which is why you're getting those issues when you press the brakes. What kind of motorhome do you have? You can add this...

If you have a manual transmission then you would be able to flat tow and would need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. The both are compatible with the non-EcoBoost without Adaptive Cruise Control. The difference between these options is that they install slightly different and the removable draw bars have a different design. • Wiring Up Reverse Lights on Trailer to Use as Both Reverse Lights and Utility Lights
In order to use your reverse lights as utility lights you would have to have a separate 12 volt power wire running to the lights. You would need a switch and you would need diodes to prevent back feeding. You would need to run some wire from the 12 volt circuit on the trailer connector back to the reverse lights. A switch will need to be installed in line with the main power wire going back to the lights. Diodes would be needed at each light you will be wiring up. Take a look at the picture...

Hi Paul; for tow bar wiring I recommend the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267. Roadmaster makes really great, reliable wiring kits so they're my go to for flat tow setups. Since you have a 2024 Suburban you will also need the # RM-792. Two additional diodes are required starting in 2024. A battery disconnect # RM-766 is also needed as part of your setup. We don't have instructions that are Suburban specific but there...

As long as you are not exceeding the 85 amps at 12 volts per diode max load then you can definitely use the configuration in your diagram. I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster who said that the connections are not watertight but the internal components are. You would either need to find a way to make the connections watertight (as you mentioned in your diagram) or simply wipe the connections off if you were to go off-road with your 2011 Jeep Wrangler and get the diode(s) wet. For tow bar wiring to activate the tail lights on your 2015 Ford Edge Titanium when flat towing it behind a motor home you have a few options. But since you are using a supplemental braking system I recommend using 6 diodes. First you would need the 4 diode kit, # RM-154, and then 2 additional diodes, # RM-792. • Can Diodes be Used to Combine Brake Lights and Turn Signals
What you need is a converter to take the separate turn and brake light circuits and combine them. You will need converter # RM-732. It will take the separate signals and combine them so on the output side you have a green wire for right turn and brake and a yellow wire for left turn and brake. A diode is just a gate. It cannot discern the difference between the brake signal and the turn signal. So if you were turning left or right and braking at the same time chances are the higher draw...

  • How Does Tow Vehicle with Separate Turn Signals from Stoplights Get Wired w Diodes for Flat Towing
A 4-way would not be able to carry a separate brake light from a turn signal but if you used a signal converter and a kit with additional diodes you could separate out the turn signals from the stoplights. For most people it's easiest to wire vehicles with separate turn signals from stoplights as a combined setup which is what I would do. This won't use the amber turn signals of your Mini at all but what is now the stoplight/running light bulbs would control all three circuits and would...
