Happy Thanksgiving! ‘21 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid, AWD toad. RV has standard 7 way which I convert to 6 way. The rv output is 2 wire stop/turn and the toad has LED tail/running/stop lights AND incandescent amber turn signals. What 2 wire to 3 wire converter should I get and do I needed anything else?

Hey Tim, thanks! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving yourself. Do you already have wiring installed on your 2021 Escape? For a 7-way to 6-way setup you can use the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267. Then to keep your turn and brake signals separate you will need the 2-to-3 Tail Light Converter # 118158 along with two extra diodes # RM-792.

Do you already have your base plate, tow bar, and brake system?

Yes, all of the accessories are installed so I don’t need the coiled cord or the socket. My brake lights aren’t working properly. I will be home in two days and will find the exact wiring harness that I used for clarity, it was a double plug system that plugged inline with the ford harness. Also, I am concerned that the combination of LED and incandescent lights on the Escape may make the choice of 2 to 3 wire converter more complicated.

@TimL we have had others successfully install this setup on their Escape, I'm sure it was the same case but I can't say for sure since they only called out the separate wiring.

I have all of the wiring in place and the 7-pin to 6-pin coiled cord, so I don't need the whole kit. I was looking at the Roadmaster RO54FR (153789). Would this work in lieu of the 6 diode solution you suggested? I would need the brake relay for sure, but this looks like it might work and be easier to install.
