Video Transcript for Lippert Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock Feature Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at a Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Gas-Filled Replacement Shock. This heavy duty replacement shock instantly improves your ride. It is available in complete bolt-on kits as well. Now the replacement shock is going to help absorb road shock and vibration for a more comfortable towing experience. One shock per package. It's going to come with the nuts, washers, and rubber grommets necessary for the installation of the replacement shock.

It's going to have that really nice yellow enamel finish that's going to do great job at preventing rust and corrosion and lasting a long time. Now a few measurements to go over with you real quick. When it's compressed, from edge to edge, so basically measuring from the bottom of this washer to the same point on the other side, compressed length is 8.625 inches. When it's extended, and if you do that same measurement, the extended length on this particular shock is 13.5 inches long. Now when you're making your replacement, one end of the shock is going to install into the shock mounting lip on the tie plate. The other end fits into the upper mounting bracket, which is attached to the trailer frame.

Once installed, this unit really does help improve the ride of the trailer. It's going to offer better managed spring movement. It even has the potential to reduce tire wear. The number engraved on the unit is located right here, is 177734. That's going to do it for today's look at the Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Gas-Filled Replacement Shock.

Shipping was quick, thanks etrailer. I could definitely tell a difference from these new HD shocks compared to the old worn out shocks. Good firm dampening both directions.

by:

Old Jayco now rides like a Cadilac. I got lucky, mine had unused factory mounts I noticed doing a brake job and suspension rebush. Only wish I had noticed years ago. Thanks

by:

eTrailer is great! Customer Service helped me find the correct part for my application. The price was right and shipping fast.

by:

After checking with etrailer to check fit the shocks arrived quickly. Two hours to install, start to finish. After a short test drive, I’d say the trailer is more stable and less porpoising. I’ve always had very good service from etrailer.

by:

Shipping was very fast and the rep was really helpful making sure I was ordering the correct items.
Replacement was easier than I feared, it took less than an hour for all four.

by:

Bought these for our 5th wheel toy hauler. Lifted our trailer 2” and needed longer shocks. Our original shocks were blown also. Haven’t towed with it yet but the shocks look great. Had to cut off the tip of the shocks in order to fit them in place but other than that they fit perfect. Hopefully our towing experience matches the looks!

by:

Very Easy install! Kurt in sales was awesome and very helpful. He was what Customer Service should be!

by:

I'm a full timerry in my travel trailer and needed to relplace 4 of the 6 shocks in addition to a set of leaf springs. The shocks are exact replacements and have done great.

by:

5 stars because they showed up on time and in one piece.
Opened each one and all the pieces we’re with each shock. One shock was a return had felt marker on it. But was never installed. Will update once installed and operational. Looking forward too trying them out and reviewing again after camping.

No complaints on the shocks, now the roads !!! Very good return from bridge approach, no more bucking. Very happy with these shocks.

by:

Shocks came in a timely manner. I had someone else install them on trailer. Did not take them too long to install. Install was a little longer as they had to adjust the leaf springs on the trailer to make sure shock was in correctly to give the best ride possible. Did notice a difference when towing RV. Only towed a short distance so when we take a longer trip we will have a better indication at that time. Will provide an update after we take a longer trip.

by:

2016 Stryker 2912 toyhauler. Installation went smoothly. Had read reviews for other brands saying they had trouble getting grease into some of the bolts, zero problems with these. I pre-greased them through the zerks, then again after installation-no issues, shackles are beefy. Nice kit.

by:

Bolts are great quality and nicely made. I hope they hold up much better than stock. It would serve etrailer well in the future to wrap each bolt in bubble wrap. A few in the box arrived with messed up threads. So yeah, that was a bummer. I will have to try and fix the threads if at all possible. Rather than that It will be fun to install it all next month.

by:

The shocks arrived on time and packaged very well. I've ordered from etrailer many times, and found them to carry items that can not be found elsewhere. However in this case, after ordering, my wife found the shocks online for a lower price. I called etrailer and spoke with Michelle about the low price pledge. The order was adjusted with no problems. Thank you Michelle !!!

Always a pleasure doing business with the TEAM @ etrailer.

Curt, I am glad we were able to help! You will simply need to compress the shock until the rubber grommet expands to match the size of the washer.

Shock should be the perfect replacement for my 1998 HitchHiker ! 5th wheel

by:

Improved my 5th wheel camper towing experience. Lot less bouncing while passing through NYC.

by:

Lightning fast delivery...opted out of UPS hand off to usps, cost a little more, but saved $ because UPS isn't the screw up...thank you etrailer for great product and service, a pleasure voting for you again! Thanx Roger

by:

Would’ve been five had there not been missing hardware in three of the four items (likely an assembly line issue, not an etrailer issue). Quickly and quite pleasantly resolved as best as possible an 800 call to Molly, and overall happy with the experience. Original pkg showed up a day earlier than expected.

by:

Great service as always. Etrailer always ships and delivers fast. They go out of their way to make sure you get the right product.

by:

have an older travel supreme 5th wheel. so far you guys have had everything I need to keep the ole' girl rolling and looking good. easy order process. super fast delivery. ah thank ya....thank ya very much

by:

The shocks are made in China,so it will be interesting how long they last.I would think lippet could resource them from a USA company.

by:

I want to thank George J for great customer service. The product came on time just like he said via UPS. Sincerely John coile

  • Replacement Parts for 1970s Camper Frame with Dayton Fayette Axles
The Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock - Yellow # LC283280 is 8.625 inches compressed and 13.5 inches fully extended. Your current suspension may extend and retract slightly further but the shocks will be a good replacement based on the actual shock absorbing as long as they will fit your brackets. Unfortunately we don't have any info on your axle or hubs, so to help, I will need to get the bearing numbers printed on the face of your inner and outer bearing of one hub. If...

  • Measuring to Determine the Right Size Shock to Use on a Trailer
If you are looking to add shocks then measure using the following procedure: Compress the shock all the way (A) then mark the inner leg where the outer leg stops. Then release compression and measure the stroke (how far the shock moves) (B). Then measure the half way point of the stroke (C). Then you measure the shock length with it compressed to the half way point (Fig. 4A). The measurement cannot exceed the fully extended or compressed lengths. Add 2 inches to that last measurement....

  • Replacement Shocks for 2007 Triple E Topaz 5th Wheel
Hello Dave; we don't have a good way to identify the shocks on your 2007 Triple E Topaz. What I would do is reach out to Triple E RV to see if they have any information on what shocks were originally installed. If I had to guess, I would say it is the Lippert # LC283280 which is designed for 3,500 - 7,000 lb axles with a compressed length of 8-5/8" and extended length of 13-1/2". These are used for trailers with the factory shock prep and likely the same as the factory shocks you have now.

  • Shock Kit for Travel Trailer
We do carry shocks for trailers that could work for your 2003 Kit Road Ranger. I was unable to locate a reference to the product number you mentioned but I recommend taking a look at the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kits, and the right one for you will depend on your axle. Shock Kit # LC281255 is for leaf spring suspension systems with 3,500-lb (2-3/8") axles and Shock Kit LC281281 is for leaf spring suspension systems with 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb (3") axles. The shocks on these kits...

  • Which Shocks Fit Dexter Axle on Trailer
Hi Ronald; a search points to that being a 7k axle but I don't have a way to be sure without the serial number off of the axle tag. You can also measure your axle diameter which is enough to find the right kit. If you have a 3" diameter overslung axle (leaf springs on top of the axle) the # LC281281 is the correct kit. If it is a 2-3/8" overslung axle you need # LC281255 instead. If your leaf springs run under the axle the only option is the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers. These...

  • Compressed Length of Lippert Shock and Where it is Measured
We have shock # LC283280 but its compressed length is 8-5/8 inches. We are measuring that from inside washer to inside washer though so if you are measuring differently it is possible that this shock will work. I have linked a video of this shock for you.

Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock - Yellow # LC283280 are what you will need as replacement shocks. Hey Doug! Doing some research on the Monroe 555001 shocks, I'm pretty confident that the Lippert Heavy-Duty Shock # LC283280 will work well as a replacement for your Northwood Nash, and likely even an upgrade. It's designed for 3,500 to 7,000 pound axles so it has plenty of range, and has a compressed length of 8-5/8" and an extended length of 13-1/2". If you're able to take a couple quick measurements of the existing Monroe shock, that will tell you for sure if this will fit in its...

  • Lippert Shock Kit for 2021 Keystone Passport 219BH
Hi Joe; the correct kit depends on your axle diameter and leaf spring configuration. I don't have a way of knowing which axles are on your 2021 Keystone Passport 219BH so you will have to identify them first. For both kits the leaf springs must be on top of the axle (overslung). If you have a 2-3/8" diameter axle (typically 3,500-lb capacity) you need the # LC281255 and for a 3" diameter axle (5,200-lb to 7,000-lb) # LC281281. A great shock kit for this setup will be the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit # LC281255. In order to determine if this will fit your trailer, you will need to measure to ensure that you have at least 4" between the inside of the tire and the I-beam flange.
