If there's not an existing 4-way flat on your vehicle, you can purchase one separately.Very nice item, very easy to install all the connectors were good quality and precrimped on the wire ends, the only thing the little plastic tab that locks the plug into the receptacle snapped off quite easily now I have to wire tie it to secure it but other than that very nice product includes everything you need for a nice clean install.
I purchased the brake controller and wiring harness from you all and installed it watching the video on your website. I followed the instructions to an absolute T. Got everything ready and tested the product and got an SH error code for the blue brake wire shorting out. I pinned and measured resistance and everything was coming back fine (4+ ohms resistance). I then hooked a power prope to it to find the short along the frame and nothing. I had power from the female connector all the way up to the brake controller. After 4 hours of troubleshooting, I found that the female trailer connector was shorted internally. See the attached picture. The blue and green ring terminals inside of the female trailer connector were touching. Replaced the trailer connector and now all is well.

It looks like you did all the troubleshooting that we would have recommended. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you about replacing the trailer connector.
Still working great. I didn't use the backup lights or brake signals and only ran a 12 volt charge wire to the vehicle battery and used the included fuse/breaker. Replace the included screws and bolts with something stainless or they will rust on you.
This installation kit had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be to include 35 feet of the duplex wire. I had to visit Napa Auto Parts to complete the project as 25 feet was not long enough. The etrailer installation video was a big help.
Very good quality and instruction. Hardestpart was running battery and lighting wiring to engine compartment and through firewall for break controller on 2021 ford ranger lariat.
Amazing, all you need available, with great instructions available for DIY. Hard to find all in 1 kit that can fit a multitude of vehicles....I put this on an older model MB Sprinter that did not come pre equipped with tow features from factory and it looks great works great. Make even a beginner DIYer feel like a competent mechanic. will save you hundreds of dollars.
I was told after numerous communication, photos, etc . that this harness would mount face out on my bumper, next to my license plate. Wrong. Had to mount it in the bottom of my bumper. Seems etrailer needs to educate their sales staff. Disappointed. Trust level at 0
A very well thought out kit. Installation was challenging but very rewarding to know it had every thing to provive a very professional installation. I replaced my trailer brakes to match, which I just completed with a complete brake kit that I also purchased from your company. Will go for a test ride soon.
Install with brake controller took a few hours on my 23 F150 but worked just as it should
The controller works great, and applies the brakes in a study manner, depending on how hard you’re breaking and what number it’s set too. The installation was a little more difficult than I expected, but that has nothing to do with the product, but more about finding the ideal location for mounting, and still went smoothly. The finished install looks like it came from the factory, with just the adjustment knob being visible. I like how it’s always on and ready to use, but it’s only active when the trailer is hooked up. Super simple to use.

I have a 2021 Rav4 Prime. I did not need the 10 Gauge wire as my battery is in the back of the SUV. I purchased RJ45 (eithernet) cable locally to connect the control switch at the dash to the controller that I mounted near the battery. Would be nice if E-Trailer would make a kit for Hybrids and Primes with this change. I used Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty controller.
Kate M. my salesperson, had a most professional interaction with me being certain of my and my vehicle's needs. In addition, she walked me through the complete installation process. This I completed, wiring the 7-way and the Curt Discovery Controller making no errors along the way. On the first test, every terminal on the 7-way tested as it should. When we came home with the RV from the dealer, all the lights and the brakes worked flawlessly. Many thanks!!
Very easy to install! I put off installing this stealth hitch for a month dreading taking off the body panel... Just to find out it was extremely easy. The whole process took me four hours, would have been done sooner if I didn't unnecessarily take off a small battery cable that prevent the car from starting. The part of the makes me happy is the added safety from the superior strength in steel and the protruding ball to help protect from getting rear ended!
Used to install in my 2005 Lincoln Navigator. This kit helped out a lot. I would have given it 5 stars, but had to make several mods in order for it to work! First mod was to the 4 way plug, it did not fit my factor 4way plug. So u will either have to splice the wires or cut the rubber seal from around the prongs to plug it in. Next the mounting bracket will not work on the 05/06 Navigator. You will have to cut the top mounting part off,so that it is just a flat square. The next thing is there is not enough zip ties, you will need at least 10 more. I did not use the fuses either, went with a inline standard fuse holder (30amp). When all is said and done. The wire and connectors really came in handy and the product is install. Hope the picture below will help others out because, I couldn't find any info on where to mount the 7-way. But found a creative location that still has somewhat of a factory look!

Have you had any troubles using the inline fuse vice the circuit breaker they reccomend?

Installation instructions are adequate, provided you keep the wires straight. After final install everything worked fine. The online video was a little too simplistic, and skipped frustration in finding where to put things. Final outcome was a clean install. It would have been nice to have been offered the dashboard knockout piece for the Highlander. I drilled mine out and it works
I have a 2018 BMW X2 that did not come with a factory tow package. I had an etrailer hitch and 4 way plug installed last year and has been perfect since. I just recently purchased a camper and needed to have a Brake controller & Brake controller 7 way deluxe kit installed. My mechanic installed them with the detailed instructions that the units came with without any issues. The Tekonsha P3 is extremely user friendly and is working flawlessly. A bit overkill for my car being I can only tow max 3500 pounds, and my camper is 1 axel. this unit is rated up to 3 axles. I look at it like this way, when I trade in my BMW I will take my P3 with me. etrailer is amazing with the support & products they provide and I highly recommend them to anyone who asks me.

My Meghan said this was very easy to install, works great no complaints whatsoever.
Overall, this is a good kit, and is much better than having to do it from scratch. I mounted this on a 2016 Chevy Express 2500 with a DrawTite class V hitch. This kit did not come with an L-bracket to mount the receptacle to a hitch like they show in the video. But, you can get one from etrailer. I fabricated my own L-bracket and mounted it upside down so it would be protected from road debris by the hitch itself. It made the receptacle fit perfectly against the bottom of the bumper. (see pic) You will also need a couple extra blue butt connectors for this particular vehicle that are not included in the kit. It would also be nice if the kit came with a few more feet of wire covering to use under the hood. I would recommend following the video carefully when installing the Tekonsha Prodigy 2 controller. It's a great video.

Product still works great.
It works, but wiring colors don't match the instructions and the four prong connector does not fit the bracket at all, it just falls out and hangs there.
I actually only needed one wire because I have a curt 7 pin brake controller that plugs into the back. However, I wanted a number 10 wire and chose to use this kit in case I want to hard wire a brake controller in the car later. This also allowed me the luxury of choosing to use a 30 amp breaker. Working great!
Have a 2021 Durango SXT. Bought the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, Tekonsha POD Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Time Delayed, and Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controller 12" Long. 7 wire was easy to install but break controller a little harder do to the vehicle I have. Previously bought tow hitch and 4 way wire trailer plug from etrailer. Very happy with all.
product was excellent and COMPLETE. everything you need with very DETAILED directions. i also ordered the prodigy P2 to complete my install. both were excellent and very recommended. only modification was on the actual plastic cover on bumper, i cut away minimal pieces with razor knife for perfect fit. you can look at all the pics to check out install. I took advantage of the reverse light wire and put LED light bar on back of trailer.
i made one email to e trailer for exact numbers for my make and model. the response was pretty impressive. Full detail with pictures and product numbers all set up so all i had to do was press order and pay for it. This is how american companies are supposed to be ran......I LOVE IT!!!!

this has been a frustrating endevor trying to get parts together to install Tow pro brake controller got the Red Arc Controller and wire package for rear of vehicle controller and no wire harness to get out of the controller bummer orfer more parts i guess
I don’t typically do surveys of any kind but the good experience I have had with etrailer has given me reason to write. etrailer’s website and menu took me right to the product I was looking for based on the year and make of my tow vehicle. My package arrived a day early, was well packaged, not damaged and what I ordered. I haven’t installed the trailer brake and wiring kit yet but after reading the simple to follow directions just one time I am confident that the installation is going to be a success.
I installed the kit per the instructions and it did work. Some of the issues I found with it include: the rear harness mount had to be re-drilled to fit my original mounting spot, the ground wire on the rear harness was a bit short, the rear harness mount 4 way side connector is just slid into the side of the bracket (I am not sure it will stay in place), the use of the quick splice to tie into the brake signal wire did not work for me I had to cut and splice the wires together. Overall, it works, but it's a challenge at times to install.
