This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way tow harness is located behind the interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the converter, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the integrated fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.I was extremely happy with the etrailer hitch, l had a little problem installing the hitch because l had one bolt hole that did not line up, l did not have a vise to hold the the hitch in place move it a few inches however l did have a come along l was able to loosen two of the bolt attach the hook from the come along and ratchet the hitch bolt hole a few inches until it aligned with the hole on the truck body. I was able to screw in the bolt. The hitch looks great.l highly recommend etrailer for any towing needs

Oh btw this wiring harness was simple to install and works great on our 2018 Highlander.
I really want to give this 5 stars because it is all quality, good price, and shipped quickly. However there was nearly no protective packaging so the tow bar easy bashed holes all through the box resulting in significant damage and chipping of the powder coat. The powder coat is the the only thing that will prevent rust, so I touched it up with paint. Other than the shipping damage, very happy.

Had to make many calls to get the proper one for my Lexus RX350. It tracks very well on the road.In all a wonderful product. Thanks.
After watching the online video, it couldn't have been any easier to install both the wiring harness and the tow hitch on my 2018 Toyota Highlander Limited. I used it to pull a 5X8' rental trailer this past weekend over 650 miles from Tennessee to Florida. Cost for the etrailer tow hitch and harness? About 1/4 what Toyota would've charged. That was a heck of a savings. Glad I kept looking for tow hitches online and found etrailer as an alternative to Toyota.
Replacement for my 2002 4Runner. After 20 yrs and a splice you’d have to imagine there would be some degradation to the OEM harness. The OEM harness had gotten pretty finicky. This was a direct plug and play kit. It plugs in near the driver’s rear corner, route it, a few zip ties and everything is G2G.
Worked perfectly. Installation instructions were perfect for the steel. Had to find a YouTube video from UHaul to figure out the wiring harness install, but worked without any issues!
Wiring harness was easy to install and straight forward to do. Much easier than what it use to be like. Thank you!
Everything I needed, unfortunately I first only ordered the plug adapter. Since what I had read that the (v6 highlander) comes with the towing package. That wasn’t the case with my v6 hybrid.
According to information sent connector is on driver side it is on passenger side.

SECOND CURT PRODUCT I PURCHASED (FOR A DURANGO) AND BOTH WERE GREAT. LIGHTS WORK PERFECTLY. I KEEP MINE UNPLUGGED TO VEHICLE PLUG. ONLY OPEN DRIVER SIDE IN REAR TO ACCESS THE PLUG LOCATION TAKES 2 MINUTES, THIS WAY I AM NOT CONNECTED FOR WARRANTY WORK.

I have a 2019 Highlander and the installation went very well. I bought the Drawtite hitch with the mounting bracket for my wiring plug, so I wanted my wires to go under the vehicle and not through the rear door. Once I removed the trays from the back of the vehicle, there was a rubber plug in the corner that could be removed that allowed access under the vehicle. I decided to use my box knife to cut a slit in the rubber plug. I had to cut my wiring harness across the 4 wires to run them through the rubber plug. I crimped them back together as seen in the photo. I used zip ties under the vehicle and inside the back to clean things up.

When I looked for the wire harness, (2017 Highlander XLE) I was looking at the back of the rear seats. I knew I DID NOT HAVE factory installed Tow Package.
Finally found it along the edge where the Back Door Closes and latched. I was totally looking in the wrong place. Once I found it, Plug and Play. Secured the Box to the floor, best I could so it would not slip, Put the 30 amp Low Profile Fuse in, under the hood, and the fuse provided in the harness, and tested with a Wire tester. All good
This is the second trailer hitch light wiring assembly (another vehicle) we purchased from etrailer. It was simple to install. Their videos are a great resource. Their customer service was also very helpful. Great products and customer service!
It does not fit a Lexus 2021 RX350 Standard. The wiring harness will not work according to my installed A1 Hitch he connects do not match what in the vehicle. They had to use a different harness. He agreed that Curt said it would fix but the connectors are different.

Bought this harness to install on my neighbors Toyota Highlander. He had attempted to rent a uhaul and the uhaul dealer apparently attempted to install a harness but it wouldn’t function. This harness installed in minutes and has worked perfectly. No issues. I always buy my trailer hitch gear from e trailer. Have been a customer for has to be 20+ years. Never had a problem.
