Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

What is the recommended components, setup, and installation instructions to connect up a 7-way travel trailer for a 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The models and systems have changed over the years and I need to know the proper ones and install for a 2019 version. Thanks!

The particular parts you need to install a fully-functioning 7-Way on your 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid will depend on what exactly it's already equipped with.
Either way you will need to start by adding a 4-Way connector harness. If your Highlander has the factory tow package I recommend the Curt T-Connector # 56042. If it does not have the tow package you will want the Curt T-Connector # C56217 instead.
Both custom harnesses install by simply plugging into existing ports on the Highlander for a bona fide "plug-and-play" process. If you aren't sure whether or not you have the tow package my best recommendation is to simply give your local Toyota dealer a call with your VIN and they will be able to tell you this pretty quickly.
Then with the 4-Way in place I recommend using the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to upgrade it to a functional 7-Way. This kit includes the connector itself that will just plug into the existing 4-Way, along with all the wiring, circuit breakers, and quick-splice connectors needed to both make this conversion and install a separate brake controller (if needed).
If the trailer you plan on towing is equipped with electric brakes you will also need to add a brake controller. For this I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 along with the diode harness # 7865. This controller offers the best display on the market with easy-to-read messages (not codes like on other controllers) and storable settings that help you to maintain comfortable braking on various trailers (if applicable) or simply different user preferences.
