Received hitch yesterday, very quick service. I was impressed. Installed the front hitch right away. It was quick, it was simple, directions were easy to read and understand and it looks great on the front of the truck. Thanks again.

This hitch is high quality and fit perfectly. Install was relatively easy. I needed this hitch because I tow a travel trailer and need to carry my bike rack and bikes as well. I can move the bike rack to my rear factory hitch when I'm not towing, very simple.
The pictures show my truck / RV with my bike rack installed in the front hitch.

Have a 2010 Ford F-150, I went to install as instructions said no drilling required.
Needed to drill out frame to get bolt that need to be fished through the frame
Did not give a good description of where to use the fish wire on frame but pretty easy to figure out
Had to cut lower part of plastic guard hanging below bumper so to fit.
All in all only took about 1hr 30 min taking my time

2010 Ford F-150 Raptor

This is the third Curt front receiver hitch I have used on vehicles. The hitch was good quality with clear instructions included. It definitely helped during installation that I had a friend and shop to do the install as the ends had to be spread a hair to slide around the frame rails. We had the hitch installed in about 20 minutes. The reason for the average rating is that this is supposed to fit the 2010 Ford F150 Raptor. Although it does fit, you cannot reinstall the skid plate without sever modifications and then, the skid plate would just be for looks. The end of the hitch also sits behind the bumper requiring me to purchase a hitch extension in order for me to install my receiver mounted winch. I bought the RM-071-1075 from etrailer in order to mount the winch. Recently I had to use the winch and had no issues with this set up doing a straight pull. When we tried to pull at a slight angle, I was afraid of exceeding the capacity of the hitch due to the extra leverage caused by the extension (big heavy Raptor on 37's buried in mud and snow). Overall I would have given the receiver hitch 5 stars if the description mentioned that there would be issues installing on a Raptor. I probably would have done a traditional bumper mounted winch but I like being able to move the winch front to back (which is how I ended getting out of the situation).

2011 Ford F-150

This is my second Curt Front mount Hitch Receiver I have purchased. I use it to launch my boat and wave runner.
The mounting instructions need to be corrected.
I placed this receiver on the front of a 2011 Ford F150 4wd.
I found it easiest to place the Bolt on Forward passenger side first.
The instructions said to place bolts and bushings from inside.
There is not enough clearance between the radiator and the frame to place the bolt from inside out. I found it easiest to mount with the nuts closest to the radiator.
I did not trim the bumper fascia and it still fits perfect. (plastic has some give)
The 5/8 fish wires are great! All hardware is packaged and taped to Hitch.

2014 Ford F-150

easy to install with right tools and a ramp or lift
instructions did not state to torque nuts you need a deep socket 15/16"
main reason is to use snow plow on driveway

The hitch was out of square upon delivery, which was discovered when trying to install it. After calling customer service, prompt advice was given which allowed us to return the hitch to square and install safely without marring or voiding warranty. Assistance was detailed and concise and we will very likely utilize etrailer for future vehicle needs.
This hitch was purchased for the purpose of attaching a snow plow to our pickup and fit well after slight modification.

I would appreciate any other comments you may have about this set up. Where did you get rod holder.

Lincoln

Very sturdy, have used this several times with 2 bikes on the front of my Lincoln while towing the Airstream and balances out the tongue load with some counterbalancing load on the front. Small view obstruction, but careful arrangements of bikes and dropper post engaged makes it unobtrusive. Note that I do take the inside bike inner pedal off to keep it from damaging front of Lincoln, but that is minor. Could also use a hitch extender but don't want to add to torque on front end.

One other case I had, used bike racks on front and back simultaneously, since I had both and capacity was limited.

Be very careful not to drop any of the threading springs or bolts inside the frame of your car or install could take a bit longer. :)

I do get some looks at the local bike start parking lot since this setup is a bit unusual.

Very happy to have bikes outside my vehicle while towing a trailer and would definitely say that the hitch mount is sturdy after a year of use.

by:

Backing a short trailer like my teardrop by yourself can be a challenge. By the time you see the trailer respond to steering it's too late to make easy corrections. I installed the front hitch to allow me to see everything while pushing the trailer into the tightest spaces. The installation was made easier with my motorcycle lift. Written instructions were good but viewing the video from the website first is definitely a good idea. Fit and finish are excellent as are etrailer's knowledgeable staff. Very happy with my purchase and will look to etrailer for my next purchase.

2010 Ford F-150

2009 Ford F150 4x4 front hitch is/seems to be of solid construction... weld/vent holes on tubes could/should be smaller so that excessive water/contaminates couldn't/can't get inside to help prolong life of material.
I installed by self, had no one to help me...hardest part of installation was measuring the center point of air dam... had to use flexible tape measure to wrap around arch of air dam... also used a floor jack to lift and hold hitch in place, until pushing of bolts through front mount holes... personally, but did work alright, the fish wires were bit short for rear mounting bolts to fish from front of frame opening, and working through the factory tow loop mounting bolts...
The measurements for opening to cut in air dam, personally, are a bit excessive, the opening is a little bit larger than needed, but looks alright... instruction sheet says professional install time 30 min, and 60 min for novice/me, took me 45 min., so installation is very easy, also the instructions state tools needed, they should say a ''deep well'' 15/16 socket, standard socket will not tighten the 5/8'' nut on rear mounting bolts.
Ground clearance is excellent, 10 1/2 inches from center of tube to the ground, stock ride 2009 F-150 no lift/leveling.
Overall product looks/will work excellent for my application/purpose.

I purchased the front receiver hitch for my Ford F150 so I could attach a snow plow. I installed it myself, and it was an easy installation. It took about an hour, but the instructions were great, and had a great step by step guide. I also watched the instructional video to make it even easier.. It fits perfectly, and is tucked up nicely in the front. I would highly recommend this hitch if you need to put a receiver hitch on the front of your vehicle.

Pontiac Trans Sport Van

We are VERY happy with the front hitch. We pull a camper and rather than put the bikes on the roof this was a great alternative. We took our grandkids camping last summer and we were able to transport all the bikes. The bikes are below the driver's field of vision which was our initial concern, no problem. The hitch was a great price and we had a local garage do the install in one afternoon for $90.00. While it may look a little different than most traditional rear hitches, it is perfect for our needs!

I got this for maneuvering boat trailers in tight spaces and will probably get a winch mount at some point too. It is easy to install. You will need to make sure you have the appropriate torque wrenches available and it definitely helps to have ramps to drive the front wheels up on. Another tip is to fish the bolt carrier coil from the back through the bolt hole and then out the front of the frame before putting the bolt in the coil and drawing it back to the bolt hole. Don't curve or bend the bolt carrier, in fact try to keep it straighter than how it arrives so with a little jiggling it won't hang up in the frame rail. That makes it really easy. I was able to install it myself in under an hour even after wasting a little time initially trying to fish the wire through from the front. I added a Curt cap to keep out of the front hitch while driving.

This time last year I prepared my truck for a 3k plus trip to Baja. My motorcycle needed to mount on a front hitch being that my Airstream was towed on the back,. Not a single problem a year later. The round trip drive as well as the local rough roads caused a lot of wear and tear on everything Not the hitch. Now I use the front hitch for my Thule Fat tire rack. I am really happy to have an added hitch on the front of my truck

by:

I use the hitch for our E-bikes bike rack. It is so nice to use especially since I tow a camper and didn’t have a way to haul the bikes. Very sturdy and it was easy to install.

2017 Ford Expedition

I purchased this hitch for a 2017 Ford Expedition. This is the second hitch I have purchased from etrailer, the first being on my previous truck, a 2006 F-150. Ordering was easy, shipping was quick and customer service was super helpful.

Not counting the time it took to get things together, it took me a hour to install the hitch by myself. Lifting the hitch in place by myself was a little awkward, mut I managed and it was easier once I got the first bolt in place.

The directions were good, except they were written for a F-150. There are slight differences between the 150 and the Expedition. I was able to figure these out easily enough, but it would have been nice if the instructions mentioned them.

The biggest difference between the instructions and my vechicle is I did not need to trim the fascia. Fortunately I lifted the hitch up and did a dry fit and discovered this before I trimmed anything.

The other thing that was not mentioned in the instructions is there were dividers on each side of transmission cooler that attached to the lower air dam. I secured these to the hitch with zip ties when I was finished with the install.

My bike rack fits nicely on the hitch. At first I was worried the hitch would sit too far back but there is just enough clearance when it is installed.

All in all, it looks nice, was easy to install and now I can take bikes with me camping.

The CURT hitch was extremely easy to install. It probably took me 45 minutes. No drilling, instructions were easy to follow and you can hardly see it once it is installed. Thanks again for your support and follow up. I would order again from etrailer.com. Here are a few photos of what I use the front end hitch for.

by:
2010 Ford F-150

Very easy to install. Took me roughly 30 minutes, and as long as you trim the front valance 1st thing, goes quick and easy. We are heading out to the outer banks of nc to do some surf fishing and I wanted to be able to mount my fishing rack on the front of my truck instead of the back so I could open the tail gate and this hitch setup is perfect. Awesome product and anyone who has any mechanical knowledge, this is a piece of cake.

by:

The front mount hitch showed up in a couple days and was in great condition. The directions were top notch and the hitch fit as described. Took me less than an hour to install, and that included a trip to the store to get a deep well 15/16th socket (my standard 15/16 wouldn't fit onto the nut, and you need a solid fit when going to 210ft-lbs).
I had read a review that said a hitch extender was needed with this mount, but my bike rack fits without an extender (barely - less than an inch of clearance, but it fits).

by:

Perfect fit, good kit, came with everything I needed. Total install time was about an hour. The installation video was very helpful.

2013 Ford F-150

Instructions were very clear, although my 2013 F150 4X4 Ecoboost had all 15MM socket nuts and bolts. The aft tow loop bolts were not very accessable due to being in a C channel and partially blocked by the upper air dam. I drilled a 3/4" access hole in the upper air dam in line with these bolts. A 3/8 drive extension fits thru this hole to access these bolts. also, the lower air dam nuts reqd a deep reach 15MM socket. My install took 1 hr.

Excellent product fast delivery! The front mount trailer hitch fit perfectly on my 2011 f150, was easy to install, within an hour, the instructions were accurate. I used my motorcycle jack to raise the hitch to position. See pics. I use the front hitch to position my boat in tight spots.
Thanks for a great product

2012 Ford F-150

I ordered this Curt front mount hitch receiver for my 2012 F150 4 x 4. after removing the air damn and making an opening in the plastic under the bumper it bolted right up, perfect fit. The special fish wires for the back bolts worked perfectly. I was able to install it by myself with the help of a floor jack to help hold it in place while I got the first bolts in place.

  • Front Hitch for 2017 Ford Expedition for Carrying Bike Rack
For your 2017 Ford Expedition we have the Curt Front hitch part # C31068 that you referenced as a confirmed fit for the front of your vehicle. This would work well to carry a cargo carrier or a bike rack like the Yakima part # Y0249 that you mentioned as well. This hitch does not have a 4WD or 2WD fit exclusion so it will work great on your Expedition regardless of which model you have.
