Front Hitch for 2017 Ford Expedition for Carrying Bike Rack

Question:

For your 2017 Ford Expedition we have the Curt Front hitch part # C31068 that you referenced as a confirmed fit for the front of your vehicle. This would work well to carry a cargo carrier or a bike rack like the Thule T2 XT part # TH83JV that you mentioned as well. This hitch does not have a 4WD or 2WD fit exclusion so it will work great on your Expedition regardless of which model you have.

When the Curt front hitch is installed on your Expedition the center of the hitch pin will be right at 8-1/2 inches from the outside edge of the front bumper/license plate. This isn't quite enough clearance for the T2 so instead you'd need a bike rack that has a longer shank like the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # Y02443-2 which measures 12 inches there. This would easily fit without requiring a hitch extender. Since this only has 7 inches when folded, you wouldn't be able to fold this bike rack when not in use. If folding the rack when it is on the vehicle but not carrying bikes is important to you, you could look at the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # SA4414B. This rack has 13-1/2 " when carrying bikes and 10 inches when folded up. You would want to add locks # SA3022 and # SA981 to this rack to secure the rack to the hitch and the bikes to the rack since they are not included with the rack.
