  • Will a Trailer Hitch Interfere with Hands Free Liftgate on a 2018 Ford Edge
The class III trailer hitch receiver I recommend for your 2018 Ford Edge is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234 which is a direct fit that installs using pre-existing holes in the frame rail. The hands free liftgate sensor will be limited to areas directly away from the receiver tube. This means that it will still work but you will want to position your foot to either side of the receiver tube in order to activate the rear hatch release. I have attached an install video on...

  • Replacement Hardware Kit for a Curt Hitch C13234
For the installation hardware for the Curt Hitch item # C13234 you will want the Replacement Hardware Kit item # RHK. This will include the correct grade bolts, spacers, nuts, and fish wire tool needed to install this hitch on your Ford Edge. You will want to go to the right hand side of the product page and above where it says add to cart you will see a box that is labeled Hitch Item Number. In this box you'll need to put C13234. I have linked the instructions for the Curt item # C13234...

  • How to Activate Hands-Free Liftgate on a 2016 Edge Sport With Curt # C13234 Installed
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13234 should still allow you to activate the hands-free liftgate as it has been tested. In the attached video of this trailer hitch on a 2015 Ford Edge you can see our installer activating the liftgate by passing his foot under the trailer hitch but typically what we see is that you have to use a kicking motion as if you are kicking a ball. I have attached a photo showing the best locations to try activating a liftgate when a trailer hitch is installed...

  • Difference Between Curt Hitches C78KR and 13234 that Fit 2018 Ford Edge
The difference you mentioned is the key difference between the hitches you referenced for your 2018 Ford Edge. The # C13234 is a much more visible option than the # C78KR which only has the hitch opening visible below the rear bumper. The # C78KR also has a higher towing capacity so it's the hitch I would recommend for your 2018 Ford Edge.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Ford Edge Sport With Hidden Crosstube
When the Curt hitch part # C13234 is installed on your 2015 Ford Edge Sport it will have a visible crosstube like in the picture I attached. If you wanted a hitch that doesn't have a visible crosstube you would instead want the part # 75234 which has also been confirmed as a fit for your vehicle.

  • 2015 Ford Edge Sport Hitch, Which is Less Visible Curt C13234 vs. Draw-Tight 75234
We don't have the drawings you are looking for, but if you check out the pictures I attached you will see that both the Draw Tite part # 75234 and the Curt # C13234 do not extend out past the rear bumper at all. Since you prefer the hidden cross tube the Draw Tite will be the hitch to go with. There isn't a version without the lower safety chain loops though.

  • Does Heat Shield On 2021 Ford Edge Need To Be Removed To Install Curt Trailer Hitch C13234?
You do not need to remove the exhaust heat shield on your 2021 Ford Edge to install the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13234 you were looking at. With that said you will need so cut a section of the underbody trim panel so that the hitch will fit correctly, and you can see Clayton trim this panel at the 5:45 minute mark of the included video. If you will be towing a trailer with your Edge you will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 118806 if you have a titanium model, or the # 118805 if you...

  • Trailer Hitch and Twistep Pet Step for 2015 Ford Edge Titanium with Hands Free Liftgate
The Curt Hitch part # C13234 is a confirmed fit for your 2015 Ford Edge Titanium and will still allow you to use the hands-free liftgate but the sensor will be somewhat limited. We had a customer come back and send us a picture (attached) that shows where they were able to move their foot and have the sensor activate the liftgate. We actually carry the Twistep part # HE3052 as well!

  • Trailer Hitch with Best Ground Clearance for 2018 Ford Edge
For your 2018 Ford Edge the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13234 will have the best ground clearance when installed. The hitch receiver will sit about a 1/2 inch higher from the ground compared to the similar Draw-Tite # 75214 that is also available for your vehicle. This Class III hitch features a 4,000 pound towing weight capacity and a 600 pound tongue weight limit. It will use existing holes in the Ford Edge's frame for a no-drill installation. • Bike Rack Recommendations For 2018 Ford Edge SEL
I recommend the Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Rack - Adjustable Arms - Trunk Mount part # SA803 for the 2018 Ford Edge SEL. It fits all models of the Ford Edge and carries 3 bikes. The Saris Bones is a great option because of it's anti-sway cradles that secure the bikes to the rack. It also features adjustable arms so there is less of a need for a bike frame adapter bar on women's and children's bikes. While I do think the Saris Bones trunk mounted rack is a great option for you, however if you...

  • Why Does My Handsfree Liftgate No Longer Work After Installing Receiver And 4-Way on 2015 Ford Edge?
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56292 may be blocking the sensor for the handsfree liftgate on your 2015 Ford Edge or the wiring is causing interference. We have installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13234 on a similar 2015 Ford Edge and tested the handsfree liftgate to still function properly. I have linked our installation video below that shows this. I recommend dropping the rear fascia and temporarily moving the wiring away from the handsfree sensor. Be sure...

  • Hitch Fit Recommended for 2015 Ford Edge Sport
We offer 4 Class III hitches that are a confirmed fit for your 2015 Ford Edge Sport: • etrailer brand Class III hitch, part # e36RR • Curt Class III, part # C78KR • Curt Class III, part # C13234 • Draw-Tite Class III, part # 75234 I'd eliminate the Curt # C13234, as the entire hitch would be visible from the rear of the vehicle, while the Draw-Tite # 75234, the Curt # C78KR and the etrailer # e36RR are mostly concealed behind the bumper, with only the receiver tube and the safety chain...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Liftgate Interference on 2017 Ford Edge Sport
The Curt Class III receiver hitch, part # C13234 will indeed fit your 2017 Ford Edge Sport. The hands-free liftgate sensor under the middle of the bumper will be obstructed by the hitch, but in the areas to either side of the receiver tube the sensors will indeed still work. Actually, the Draw-Tite # 75234 could be a better choice. The hitch crossbar is concealed behind the bumper, with will interfere with the sensors to a lesser degree. The towing capacity of a 2018 Ford Edge Titanium with the 2.0L EcoBoost Engine is 3,500 lbs per the 2018 Ford Trailer Towing Guide. There are other models with a 2,000 lb towing capacity which have the 2.7L EcoBoost Engine. • Best Hitch for BackRoad Driving and Ground Clearance
Two good recommendations for a hitch for backroading with your 2017 Ford Edge SE are the Draw-Tite # 75234 and the Curt # C13234. The Curt hitch # C13234 has the most clearance among the 2" hitches with 13" from the top of the receiver tube to the ground. It has a capacity of 600 lbs for tongue weight and 4,000 lbs for towing. Curt recommends you use a stabilizing strap like # 18050 with non-trailer accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. The Draw-Tite hitch # 75234 measures...

  • Troubleshooting Hands Free Liftgate Sensor on 2015 Ford Edge
The hands free liftgate on your 2015 Ford Edge has sensors that can be adjusted on your vehicle to better see movement of your foot. The sensor sees movement so a more obvious movement may not require the moving of the sensors for the hands free option to work more often. The Sensor is shaped like a moustache and can be adjusted to better see around your trailer hitch receiver # C13234.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2016 Ford Edge with Hands-Free Liftgate Sensor
I can help you find a hitch for your 2016 Ford Edge Sport. All of the trailer hitches offered for your vehicle will only slightly interfere with your power lift gate. The only area affected is right by the hitches receiver, it should function properly as long as you wave your foot not directly below the hitch receiver. I would highly recommend the Draw-Tite hitch # 75234 over the Curt hitch # C13234 you were looking at, because of the higher weight capacity and the fact that you will...

It sounds like you are trying to decide between the Curt Class II Round Receiver hitch part # C12140 and the Class III Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234. I recommend the Curt Class III 2" C13234 receiver because it is more versatile in the long run. There a lot more accessory options like bike racks and cargo carriers that fit a 2" receiver. If you decide to tow a small trailer in the future the 2" is a better option as well. If you need a bike rack, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0...

  • Will Curt Multi Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver C13900 Fit 2017 Ford Edge SE/SEL
The Curt # C13900 is a universal multi-fit trailer hitch receiver so it may fit your 2017 Ford Edge. However, this type of hitch is typically reserved for vehicles where a custom hitch isn't an option. Curt actually offers a 2" hitch specifically designed to fit the frame of your 2017 Ford Edge SE/SEL, the Curt # C13234. • Will Trailer Hitch from 2017 Ford Edge Fit 2021 Model
The 2017 and 2021 Ford Edge are of the same generation, so the hitch fits for both vehicles would be the same. The Curt # C13234 Class III hitch you'd looked at will fit both vehicles. The hitch manufacturers don't list fits for the 2022 model Edge as of yet, but from what I've found online there aren't any appreciable changes to the 2022 model that would have any effect on the hitch fits, so they should carry over to the 2022 model as well.
