Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

A good product I'm very happy with it

by:

Ordered a hitch had it two days later good customer service.

by:

looks like it will work great. It will be installed at the end of Oct.

by:

Thanks for the prompt delivery and all the emails notifying me of the status of my order. Hitch is beautiful highly recommended.

by:

Easy time to install. and easy setup. Fast shipping. Installed the product in time quoted. Now have to figure out on what to pull.

by:

Quick delivery. Easy install. Took longer than expected though, as I do not have a vehicle lift and spent this time on my back.Love the instructional videos on the website was a big help.Looks great. Now I just have to install the electrical harness 118551 and I will be ready to tow!! Thanks Etrailer.

I'm really happy with this hitch.I have a 2011 Edge Sport and was initially concerned about how this would work out. I did not have to trim the fascia to install the hitch, as I just deflected the fascia upwards. With design of the center section having a non-shiny black texture with fins, it looks okay to have the gentle upwards curve in the middle. The rest of painted fascia is not deflected. Best part is I can take off the hitch when I turn in my lease and have no damage to the facia

by:

The hitch fit great...It will take longer if you have to have to do it on your back and not a lift....They say to use a 17/32nd drill bit but a 9/16th works a little better...Overall I am happy and I did order the light kit...THANKS AND i WILL ORDER WITH YOU AGAIN

by:
2011FordEdge

Perfect fit easier to install my way.. very sturdy highly recommended .. I removed the rear bumper its easier and faster for me only took 1/2 hr… good quality

2013 Ford Edge Sport
Pro Tip: There
are two (2) carriage bolts that are longer than the other four (4). The instructions indicate to use these for the holes that you will drill though I’m not entirely sure it matters. Still, if you want to do it by the book, double check your bolts before installing. Otherwise a straightforward and easy install.

Lincoln

I have been dealing with etrailer for many years and have never had a problem. I just ordered a hitch for my Lincoln, and it didn't fit. I called on a Sunday and talked with Diana. Diana said there were were two different hitches for my car that year. She said no problem, she sent the correct one out that day and gave me a prepaid tag to return the wrong one, no questions asked. They are a great company that stand behind there products if there's ever a problem. Great people to buy from. Thank you Diana for the quick turn around, you folks have my vote and my business!

Solid Trailer Hitch Receiver that is sturdy and made well. Make sure to order the one you need and fits your vehicle.

by:
2011FordEdge

The hitch had a bend in it upon arrival. It was easy to get back into original shape.
The installation was not quite what I had expected based on the youtube video. In the video it appears the lead wires go to the side and then pull into place. On my vehicle the bolts are pulled from the rear of the car directly behind the behind the bumper. Since it will be exclusively for a bicycle rack I expect it will work just fine.
Installation took 90 minutes.

I use the trailer hitch receiver exclusively for a bicycle rack. Though I don’t use it frequently it has been a great purchase and it is as functional as the day I bought it.

by:

The hitch works very well for the intended purpose of holding my bike rack. The only complaint is that my exhaust now rattles against it.

by:

The kit had everything I needed to get the job done. I found a video on YouTube by Etrailer that really helped! The wire for fishing the bolts through the frame was a cynch.

by:
2014 FordEdge

Just completed my installation which took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The hardest part was feeding the fish wires and pulling the spacers and bolts back through. Once I realized to put the spacer into the frame hole then to feed the bolt through, things sped back up on the installation. It was also nice to use existing holes in the frame which meant that I could not mess up the holes as well. I'm really proud of the installation and can't wait until I put the bike rack into it and take off with our 2 bikes attached securely. Thanks for the great product, easy installation guide and video.

The trailer hitch has been great. Now we are able to use a bike rack on my truck along with the wifes car. This hitch is sturdy and rides like a champ on the car. Glad that I purchased this hitch due to the easy installation the the great quality of the hitch.

2013 FordEdge

Great product at a great price, shipped to my door in 5 days. Came with all required hardware and fish wires! Great instructional video. All combined makes me feel company cares about its customers.
I am average joe with NO LIFT. Backed vehicle up on 6x6's, DID NOT drop exhaust system, followed rest of directions. If you are doing it alon as I was, leaving the exhaust up did not make it harder but in fact helped! Product actually rested on top of exhaust dress up tips making it possible to attach one side and then move to the other. Exhaust was my extra person. Highly recommend.

Great

by:

Good quality metal. Needed tow hitch for SUV I just purchased. Went on pretty easy. Video helped alot. My 2013 Ford Edge SEL has three exhaust hangers instead of just the two at back. Would have give five stars, but the hitch itself was bent slightly on one side. Had to do a little drilling out one of the holes to get it aligned. Other than that, it's a well make product.

Working great a year later!

by:

Very happy I got this hitch. A couple of months ago my wife was driving and was rear ended by a car. The car's hood and front bumper were damaged enough to make the car immobile. The hitch was only pushed down and at the bolt connection points the metal frame bent and the hitch did not.

by:

Definitely not an install for novices with no access to a lift. Due to the excellent design I was able to install it with floor jacks in my garage. Took a couple of hours but it went together well.

by:

Service via chat was outstanding and they patiently helped me learn to read and follow directions. :-)

After learning to read in instructions, the hitch went onto my 2014 Ford Edge SE without a hitch (sorry). Added the large Curt 20 cuft carrier and a cargo bag and we were totally good to go from Houston to the Rockies. The installation videos on the etrailer website really helped sell me on the DIY route.

Two trips so far and I couldn't be happier. We have the cargo capacity of our old van but with much better handling and gas mileage. Even with the cargo bag fully loaded there is no interference with brake light or license plate visibility.

by:

Wouldn't change a thing. Actually the installer Tommy at "T&E Mobile Services" in OKC made the whole experience worthwhile. I recommend them 1000%!!!

by:

This Class III receiver hitch was as advertised and easy to install, even on my garage floor without a hoist, just a floor jack and of course, jack stands for safety. I chose the e98870 because it hangs below the rear valence so I could attach my 7-way connector with a Curt 57202 no-drill clamp-on bracket. The video instruction is invaluable!

Ordered on Sunday evening, received on Friday by noon. Etrailer rocks!

by:

Very good value for the price! I’m a 70 yr old man, had it installed in a couple hours.

  • Best 4-Bike Hanging Rack for a 2012 Ford Edge
It sounds like you are interested in a hanging style bike rack. If that is the case, the best option for this with the features you are looking for is the Thule Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR. The Hitching Post has anti-sway cradles built-in so don't have to worry about the bikes coming into contact with one another or the vehicle. It also has an anti-rattle hitch pin so there will be little movement in the bike rack itself. The Hitching Post has a tilting feature so you can get into...

  • Troubleshooting etrailer.com Hitch # e98870 Where Bolt Holes Dont Line Up with 2013 Ford Edge
Sometimes trailer hitches will get bent in shipping which causes the bolt holes not to line up when you go to install it. Due to the design of the mounting flanges on the # e98870 I suspect the issue is this. So what I would do first is check out the hitch looking for any creases in the metal or paint flaking (if you find this the hitch should not be used) and if that checks out see if there's a way to bend the hitch back carefully to allow it to fit. Check again for creases and paint flaking...
