Really a good product for those who want to remove the crank. I use it every day for 1 year and even at minus 40 degrees celcius it works.
Thanks etrailer

This jack is amazing!!! It works exactly as it should.
The staff was so helpful when I had questions. As you can see I had to put it on in the other direction and cut the crankshaft down to accommodate my spare. I would definitely recommend this product to all my friends and anyone thinking about purchasing one.

The Power drive kit was shipped within a few hours and was exactly as described. I installed it on a gooseneck horse trailer. As the spare tire was on the side where the motor is shown, I installed it on the other side. It said that the drive gear in the jack should be on the opposite side to the motor, so I moved the gear to the other side. The original gears were used as the ones provided were not suitable for the jack. As an upgrade I installed a thin oilite shim between the gear and the inside of the jack housing. Having a lathe is beneficial!
Now of course the hex drive is on the crank side of the unit so I made an adaptor so that the crank can be used on the hexed end of the drive shaft in case of a battery failure.
The wiring was very well done and I only had to provide battery power and ground to the terminal box provided. I have a neighbour that does a lot of G M work so he had the correct clips for mounting the wire harnesses. you should perhaps look at puting a few of these in the kit. I used 5 of them to secure the harness.

Had to cut the front corner of the trailer to allow for the installation of the jack. Built a battery box to hold a deep cycle marine battery, the jacks power supply is directly for battery, the battery is also charged by the truck . installation was more complex due to the fact that we had to fabricate much more then normal. The jack seem to be just what the doctor ordered.

I have not had a chance to install the product yet, but as far as the getting the product after ordering, I ordered in December and didn't receive it until Feb. 1st and after further investigation for similar products cheaper elsewhere hopefully the product is better than the service.

The electric jack works very well for me on my 14500 gvw 4 horse trailer. Installation took awhile to complete due to the welding & jack disassembly. It was well worth the time & money spent.

The electric motor for the bulldog jack works great, all the time. Plenty of power to lift the 14,000 lb gooseneck horse trailer. It is surprizingly quiet and the control switch is very heavy duty. The battery and charger installation has been the reoccurring problem.

Product seems to work well, but it is very slow. It is mounted on a 34' load max trailer which is very heavy to begin with. Also if the battery ever dies and you have to crank it by hand, good luck cause between the power it take to move the jacks and the extra power it takes to overcome the brake on the electric motor you will never do it. Overall the product seems good and easy to install.

Had it for a year and still glad I have it, but still very slow, installed a 925cca battery to see if it would help but still slow and very slow in the cold weather. I wedge my leatherman under the switchbox cover and go do something else while it raises.

We have added this power motor to several of our trailer jacks at Superior Water Light & Power and Minnesota Power. Easy to install and very reliable. Takes the work out of raising a trailer.

We have several in our fleet and they have been holding up great!
Chris C - 03/18/2016

Kit was exactly as described and the shipment time was less than I was told. Ordered at 5:30 pm one day and received it the next day at 1:00pm. That’s less than 20 hrs.

I installed the power drive kit about 1 year ago to a vac trailer that was very difficult to crank because of it's location and the weight on the hitch. The power drive moves slower that I thought, but it is strong, reliable, and has made hooking and unhooking a breeze! etrailer sent the product to my door as they said they would.

Mounted very easy, slide spring back, drop pin, remove old shaft, slide unit shaft through gear, put pin in, weld stop on jack, hook up preass. wire harness, all marked correct, what made this very nice I got to use my old hand crank, just cut off the amt. shaft shown above, weld your adp. to old crank and replace crank, only thing wires on unit a little short need to be maybe 6in longer, also used old gears, pushed button jack lifted 3horse LQ trailer faster than by hand, very satisfied .

The Bulldog Power Drive Kit came quickly (3 days). I had my local trailer dealer install it for me. They said there were no problems with the installation. It may not be as fast as a hydraulic lift but it is half the price and it sure beats cranking. Some people complained about the noise, I found it to be very quiet. Liked that I have the option of using the hand crank if I don't have a power source. Had it powered with a marine battery in my gooseneck because I didn't want it draining my truck battery and incase I'm not hooked up to the truck.

This thing was nightmare to install. I figure it would be. Little difficult but not as bad as it was. I was putting mine on an older bulldog jack which did not have the spring holding the pin in the gears. It took several hours to just get the shaft out of the jack. I almost cutoff the jack and welded on a new one. Once I finally got it installed the motor is so slow it's not even funny. And because I had too install mine opposite of the way it was intended the cover won't go on so now I need to have a cover made for it. At least it was cheaper than a hydraulic unit.

I have an older Bulldog jack, it seems. The pin holding the bevel gear was very difficult to remove. It was also an odd diameter -.280" which could not be inserted into the hole in the new shaft. I replaced it with a 1/4" roll pin.
Installation of the drive was straightforward and easy. It would have been better to have some installation instructions included. The video on your web site provided all the help needed, though.
The drive is SLOW, but immensely better than how slow I was becoming when hand-cranking.
Thanks for the fine product.

We installed this on our toy hauler using our existing manual jacks. Install was pretty easy other than you need to weld coupling for tandem usage. Not as strong as I had hoped. Definately slow but beats hand cranking. Have to let it rest twice before it will raise enough to get it on or off the ball and that is with the trailer empty. Don't think it would lift it with the 2800 lb race car inside. Kind of disappointed.

Installation was a bit tedious because of the trailer construction, but we made the modifications and the bulldog works great!!
Saves a ton of wear and tear on my back.

It’s working great and has been trouble free!

We have bought 2 Bulldog Powered-Drive Kits for single speed jacks from The first one included the jack also. It was a dream to install and HEAVEN to use on our 4 horse Kingston trailer. The second electric jack is going on our Kingston 2 horse trailer as we fell in in love with the first one!!!

Jack works great but needed to ad self tapping screws and C clamps for electrical cords ....I had to go and buy both and also batterie cables. Thanks

This product worked very good. Only one problem was the wiring box and the wires coming from the motor. You have to mount the box to close to the motor. Did not give you much option to the placement. Over all very good product??

The product arrived on time, and exactly as described. I had one question I posed to customer service, after hours, and was given a response before business opened the following day.

This was my first purchase and it was very pleasant...Will certainly recommend.

Fyi, I purchased the single speed bulldog landing gear electric conversion kit.

This electric motor for my jack is exactly as it was discribed on the website. It is a huge time saver! I needed this in a rush. Etrailer got it to me right on time. I always buy my parts from etrailer because they have the best selection, best prices and most importantly, the best customer service of any trailer parts company I've dealt with.

Looks to be exactly what I ordered! I ordered this item because as I age I don’t have the same energy. This bulldog product will take the effort out of connecting and disconnecting my gooseneck trailer!

I love the electric jack kit. It was easy to install, wire and operate.
No more manual cranking!!

This Bulldog kit will also fit a Ram 12k jack - been there and done that!

very good product ! easy to install. directions could be clearer on wheather to use the suppiled gears for the gear box .the way i took it, i had to replace them in the ONE speed jack. so took it all apart, the supplied gears were to big. so put it all back together, useing the stock gears, worked fine !!

  • What Are the Dimensions of Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single Speed Jacks
I called my contact at the manufacturer and the dimensions of the motor are 3-9/16 inches wide, 6-3/16 inches wide and 8 inches long. It might be too sung of a fit. However, depending on your jack setup, if it is bolted you may be able to add a couple of washers as spacers to provide a bit of extra clearance. You may also be able to rotate the jack so that the drive runs parallel to the trailer so that clearance becomes a non-issue. You could not set the jack this way with a side crank...

  • Can Bulldog Powered Drive Kit for Landing Gear be Used on Gooseneck Trailer with 8,000 Pounds On It
The weight on a trailer near the front is going to be less than the gross weight of the trailer or the weight above the axle(s). It is possible that using one motor on the landing gear could lift the weight but the motors themselves have a specific capacity. Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 for example has a maximum capacity of 7,500 pounds, even when used with a 12,000 pound jack. You would need to take the loaded trailer to a truck scale and place only the landing gear part of...

I spoke with my contact at Bulldog and he informed me that the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit part # BD1824200100 measures 5 inches from center of motor drive shaft to center of torque stop tube. It's recommended to install it according to the instructions, if lack of room can mount other side of jack. Other than that there's no reason you have to mount it completely vertical.

  • Installation of Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single-Speed Jacks # BD1824200100 on a Trailer
The Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single-Speed Jacks, part # BD1824200100, should be wired to a trailer battery. The four wires in the wiring harness are white, black, red, and green. The green and white wire from the pigtail will go to the red and black wire from the battery. The red wire from the pigtail harness will go to the positive terminal of the trailer battery and the black wire will go to the negative terminal of the trailer battery. The problem with connecting it to your trailer...

  • Why Would a Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit Operate Slowly on a 4000 lb Trailer
I spoke with my contact at Bulldog and he said there are a couple things that could be the reason for why the motor is working slower than you expected. First thing he said was that you need to make sure the motor is wired up with between 10-12 gauge wire. You also want to make sure you have a good ground. He said you also need to consider the condition of the jack. If it is older and it was difficult to operate manually then it will also be difficult for this motor to raise and lower...

  • Using 1 or 2 Electric Jack Motors for Bulldog Single Speed Jacks with 12,000 Pound Capacity
One motor, # BD1824200100, may be all you need. When using the electrical motor the lifting capacity is 7,500 pounds. This will move both the master and slave jack legs together. If you are frequently on uneven ground, having two jacks that work independently of each other may be the way to go. However, there is no easy way to wire them up to the same switch so they would have to have independent controls. My recommendation is to start with one, you may find that is all you need and you...

The date code is stamped on the outer tube.
