Troubleshooting Bulldog Powered Drive Kit that Is Slowly Stopping Working

Published 02/20/2025

Question:

Hello I purchase a bulldog trailer Jack before my trailer. I noticed the past few days. The Jack itself is starting to not work properly. Ill press extend or retract or the memory button a few times and it will do nothing, and sometimes it will work and sometimes it wont. Ive only had this For a few months.

Hey Hoss, looks like you ordered the part # BD1824200100 from us back in December. Hows the battery on your trailer? It have a good charge on it? Is any of the wiring loose? Those are the two biggest culprits of this issue so I'd start there.

Have you tried using the manual jack handle to raise and lower the jacks? Do they seem any more difficult than usual? That will let us know for sure if the problem is electrical or mechanical.

Hello, yes battery is full. All wires are good. I did test the jack today it seemed to work fine. The only thing I can think of, it's been really cold here the past week 5 degrees. I think the jack doesn't work well in the cold. The control board buttons were acting up hence the motor wasn't working right the other day. I'll co tines to test again tomorrow. If problem is present, I was sent a warranty claim email to send back for a replacement

@Hoss Yeah cold weather makes things super frustrating. My Bobcat has it's diesel fuel gelled up and won't start (my fault for not using additive) and my Tahoe's battery was dead this morning since it's been like 10 degrees here. If you have a warm day coming up like we do I would test again and see if it wants to work better.

@JamesonC Yes sir. I'll test again the next couple days. I like this jack. Super fast and has been working fine until the other day. I think the cold weather isn't helping. Bummer about your Bobcat. Definitely additives help. I made sure to add it in before this winter weather hit us.

@Hoss Sounds good! Yeah I needed it to clear my driveway after the snow we got and instead I got some exercise with the snow shovel lol. But I ordered the additive so it hopefully won't get me again. Definitely keep us posted on if it gets better.
