How to Determine the Support Capacity You Need in Your Landing Gear

Landing gear stabilizes about 25% of your trailer's total weight when it's loaded up. For example, a 14,000-lb trailer has a pin weight of about 3,500 lbs. For these legs to work, you'd need a set of landing gear strong enough to lift no less than 3,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have some legs with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's pin weight. In fact, they should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.

Note: Do not use landing gear to lift your trailer during tire changes or service work, because doing so will exceed the capacity of the landing gear.

  • What Jack Can Bulldog Powered Motor Kit part # BD1824200100 Fit
I wish it was that easy, but the only jack set you could use the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single-Speed Jacks w/ 12,000-lb Capacity, Item # BD1824200100 with is a Bulldog jack set like # BD182815. Only option we have would be to replace your jack with the # BD182815.

  • What Kit to Use for Upgrading Bulldog Square Landing Gear Jacks on Gooseneck Trailer
Thank you for the photo of the landing gear on your gooseneck trailer! From what I can see it looks like you have the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182815 installed on both sides. If this is the case then you'll need the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 to upgrade them to electronically controlled instead of manually controlled. You'll want to verify this is the gooseneck landing gear kit you have prior to purchasing though.

  • Difference Between Bulldog Square Sidewind 10,000 Lb Weld-On Landing Gear Trailer Jacks
The Bulldog Square Jack, part # BD182800 and part # BD182815 are very similar but have just a couple of slight differences. They are both 26 inch lift jacks with a 10,000 lb weight capacity, and are sidewind jacks. The # BD182800 has a side-facing plunger pin and has a 27-2/5 inch retracted height. The # BD182815 features a front-facing plunger pin and when retracted has a height of 28-1/2 inches. As you can see there are a couple of differences.

  • Does the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182815 Come with a Handle
The crank for the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182815 is sold separately. You would want a Replacement Bulldog Sidewind Jack Crank Assembly w/ Horizontal Clevis # BD800090 if you would like a horizontal clevis or a Replacement Bulldog Sidewind Jack Crank Assembly w/ Vertical Clevis # BD015181 if you want a vertical clevis. The difference between the clevis designs is in how you plan to store the handle when it is not in use. The difference is in the how the handle hinges to allow it to be stored....

  • Availability Of Bulldog 10000lb Trailer Jacks Compatible With Powered-Drive Kit
The Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single-Speed Jacks w/ 12,000-lb Capacity # BD1824200100 you were looking at does use a 1" shaft, but is only a confirmed fit for a Bulldog 12000lb jack so without knowing the brand or model of your current jack I am unable to confirm if it will fit or not. The most surefire option is to go ahead and replace your jacks with the Bulldog Square Jack - Drop Leg w/ Spring Return - Sidewind - 26" Lift - 10,000 lbs # BD182815 which will without a doubt work with...

  • Can Two Bulldog Square Jacks be Used in Tandem for use on a Trailer
According to my contact at Bulldog, you can use two of the Bulldog Square Jacks # BD182815 for your trailer. Please make sure that you do mount both of these jacks in the same position and it should work for you. You will need a connecting rod and a crank handle like the Bulldog Replacement Side Wind Jack # BD800090. I have included links to the parts listed above as well as a video for your reference.

I've attached a video of the motor being installed for your convenience. To replace the dual-output motor for Bulldog electric 5th-wheel landing gear (like # BD500161), use part # BD500359.

  • How to Tell if a Bulldog 10K/12K Jack is a Single Speed or 2-Speed
The Bulldog 10K/12K jacks with 2-speeds will have a gear box on them such as # BD183816 and so for it you would use powered drive kit # BD1824180100. The single speed jacks will not have a gear box like # BD182815 so you would use kit # BD1824200100.

  • Availability Of Repair Kit Or Replacement FOr A Binkley 63383 Jack
Hello Parker. Unfortunately, we do not offer any replacement parts for the Binkley brand trailer jacks. We do offer some similar jacks from Bulldog and RAM, but we do not carry anything from the Holland Binkley brand. The only real solution I could offer would be to replace the jack entirely with something link the Bulldog Square Jack - Drop Leg w/ Spring Return - Sidewind - 26" Lift - 10,000 lbs # BD182815.

  • Do You Have a Replacement for a Bulldog Square Jack PN 182800?
Hey Becky! The Bulldog Square Jack PN 182800 is no longer available. I do have an alternative though. The Bulldog Square Jack item # BD182815 is almost identical with the exception of the location of the plunger pin and the retracted height. They are both 26" lift jacks with a 10,000 lb weight capacity, and are sidewind jacks. The difference is the item # BD182815 features a front-facing plunger pin and when retracted has a height of 28-1/2".

To use the 2nd speed on the Square 2-Speed Jack # TJD2SP-25100 you need to remove the handle and attach it to the other shaft on the gear box. This is how you select either the high gear of 1" every 4-1/2 turns or 1" for every 34-1/2 turns. • Recommendation to Replace Holland 4800SL Gooseneck Jack with Electric Model
Based on my research your existing Holland 4800SL jack is very similar to the Bulldog Square Jacks like # BD182815. This particular jack can be used with the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 to convert it to a quiet, electrical system that allows for easy lifting. The upgrade kit isn't compatible with your Holland unit so you would need to first replace your jack with the Bulldog Square Jack and then add the Powered Drive Kit. The only issue is that this is a weld-on jack so...

  • Whats the Difference Between Spring Return Jack and a Non-Spring Return Jack
A spring return in this regard is a mechanism that helps when you are lowering or raising a trailer onto a gooseneck ball. Due to the slow jack speed and the far distance that the foot of a jack has to go when you are raising a trailer there is a pin you can pull in the leg of the jack that will lower the inner section of the jack to take up the majority of the distance that the jack foot has to cover. Well, when it comes time to lower your trailer onto your truck and drive off you will...

If you have a single speed, Bulldog jack rated for 12,000 pounds, like # BD182815, you would need the complete powered drive kit, # BD1824200100. If you have a 2-speed jack, the correct powered drive kit is # BD1824180100. The 2 speed motor and single speed motor are not identical so you would need to select the correct one based on your Bulldog jack. There will be some welding required that a qualified welder in your area would have no problem with.

It sounds like the jacks on your 1999 Sooner Horse trailer have been modified since it was new as all the images and videos I can find for your trailer show it using a single jack. Without knowing exactly what jacks you have or the condition it is going to be best to get 2 new Jacks # BD182815.
