This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Carrier air conditioner on your RV or camper. The included adapter wiring kit ensures that the AC works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Carrier air distribution box and thermostat. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.
Start Capacitor
If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.
Simple Installation
Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.
On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.
To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.
Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

I would like to thank George for his help when I needed it. In the year using my Advent air conditioner, it has done very well. For a DIY it was a straightforward install, and I only needed someone to help me get it on top of the RV, (in the box as someone suggested). I hope to get many years of service from my Advent air conditioner1292230

Installing was quick and efficient. At first when I hookup up unit on the inside, it was blowing hot air. After purchasing the advent air distribution unit without thermostat, everything runs smoothly. I love my unit. This my first time installing everything. I would buy again, if my second unit goes out. Great replacement for carrier unit.1092423
The AC in itself is a little smaller than the one that it replaced and also a little noiser. The install was fairly simple and speedy it 1hour and 10 minutes to get up and running and would have been quicker if the start capacitor would have been installed at the factory, but all n all a simple install.1220836

AIR CONDITIONER ARRIVED IN 3-4 DAYS AS EXPECTED. PACKAGE LOOKED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE. UPS DIDN'T COPY MY NAME OVER TO THE SHIPPING ADDRESS, ONLY THE LOT #. HAD A RV REPAIR PERSON THAT DOES WORK IN THE CAMPGROUND INSTALL IT FOR ME. WE USED A LADDER AND ROPE TO SLIDE IT UP TO THE ROOF OF OUR 2003 CARRIAGE CAMEO 5TH WHEEL. ONE PERSON PUSHING IT UP AND ONE PULLING. IT WORKED VERY WELL. THE NEW ONE BOLTED DOWN AND HOOKED UP JUST LIKE IT SAID IN THE DIRECTIONS. TOOK A LITTLE BIT TO HOOK UP THE ADAPTER CABLES AND INSTALL THE EXTRA CAPCITOR FOR WE WERE REPLACING A CARRIER AIR V MODEL, BUT NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. TOOK A TOTAL OF ABOUT TWO HOURS FOR TOTAL PROJECT. COULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF IF I WASN'T HAVING A BACK PROBLEM. SEEMS TO RUN FINE EXCEPT FOR I WISH THE BLOWER WOULDN'T RUN ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR ISN'T RUNNING. MY OLD CARRIER DID THE SAME THING. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THERE IS A WAY TO CHANGE THAT OR NOT. I DIDN'T TAKE ANY PICTURES WHILE INSTALLING IT BUT WILL TRY AND TAKE A PICTURE OF THE NEW ONE INSTALLED.739585

Product works as advertised hook up was easy with instructions provided. So far so good on the working part of a/c unit. Like it a lot. Customer service was good with one exception with slow getting back to emails sent in with questions.1181466

To be honest I didn’t like how the AC arrived and I think it needs to be more protective around inside the box so it doesn’t get any scratches or dens other than that I love the performance of the AC it works great and was so easy to installed it and just because works great I’m giving 5 stars1181983

Received Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup 15,000 Btu White- ACCAR150 in excellent condition by UPS. Replaced one of my old Carrier Air V air conditioners on my 32' Damon Daybreak motor home. It was easy to install and the conversion kit that came with it worked very well. Quiet even when running on high speed. Used the same remote and ceiling mount I had with my Carrier Air Conditioner.528083

It did great for about 3 months, then without warning, it quit coming. The fan kept going. So I turned it off. I called your company and I was told I’d have to get ahold of the manufacturer. I just tried to turn it back on a/c, it started cooling again. For how long? I have no idea.1016145

Bought this air conditioner to replace my aged roof top air conditioner on my park model camper. Installation was easy...”just plug and play.” The best feature is it functions with the old air conditioner’s remote avoiding the need to hardwire a thermostat.867158

We have Carrier AC in our 5th wheel. They no longer make AC units for RV’s. Was very happy to have found Advent. It was an easy fix. Only took our tech not even an hour to replace our old unit with new unit. Only needed the roof piece. Connected easily. We are very happy with it. 824538

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners
Advent 15000 BTU AC. Best price I could find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I received the unit 4 days earlier than expected which was a good thing. The installation, including getting it on the roof, was about 30 minutes. The Advent was a direct replacement for a 4/5-year-old Dometic Brisk II that quit cooling. The Advent is slightly quitter that the Dometic but of course that is only my subjective opinion. On low speed you can continue an intelligible conversation. The Advent has been installed 3 days now and it is working great. I have purchased from etrailer in the past and have been completely satisfied. There are three concern/issues that need to be mention/address. (1) Packaging could have been better. The box it came in looked like it had been rolling around in the back of a UPS truck. (2) There was no installation instruction or owner’s manual whatsoever that came with the unit. I pulled mine off the internet. (3) the unit had minor damage on the base or main frame of the unit (I hope it does not cause issue later). The damage was not so bad as to cause forgoing the installation. Since the shipping box did not show any noticeable damage at the location of the damage on the unit, I can only assume that it was shipped by etrailer that way which is a QC issue.1296074

In general you get about 10 percent additional cooling power going from a 13k BTU AC unit to a 15K and most will report that the additional cooling power comes in handy.
