  • Is It Safe to Invert the Malone Dual Receiver Adapter for Towing?
It is not recommended to invert the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 for towing purposes. The extended receiver is only intended for accessory use not for a ball mount and trailer connection. Your trailer hitch's tongue weight will also be reduced by 50% when you use your bike rack in this adapter, so you will want to account for that as well. My recommendation is to use a longer ball mount like the # D-26 to give you that extra length you desire.

  • Dual Hitch Adapter Needed To Flat Tow And Haul A Bike Rack At The Same Time
Hey Gerry, Do you need a drop or rise for the receiver tube that the tow bar slots into? Most people flat towing will either go with a specific rise/drop dual receiver hitch like the Roadmaster # RM-077-6 or will use a stacked receiver like the Gen-Y # 325-GH-314. There a few variations to these so we'll really need to know where the tow bar is needing to sit to be level to determine the right adapter to give yourself enough space between the bike rack and tow bar. Let me know and I'd...

  • Can the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter be Used w/ a Winch?
No, it definitely can not handle a winch! We have encountered this question before and Roadmaster has repeatedly shot it down. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter item # RM-077-6 can only be used while flat towing and using an accessory like a cargo carrier or bike rack. Gen-Y on the other hand has a ball mount that will work great for exactly what you're wanting to do. It is the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-314. This is built for a more heavy-duty...

  • Can Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter be Used with a Winch
I do have a solution for you but when I reached out to my contact at Roadmaster they did not recommend using the Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6 with a winch. Instead what I recommend using is a Gen-Y Hitch. We have part # 325-GH-313 which has a 5" rise/drop and part # 325-GH-314 which has a 7-1/2" rise/drop which you can use. These are much more heavy-duty than the adapters used for flat towing so you can definitely use it with your winch on a mounting bracket like part # BDW20011...

The 4-stacked receiver shank # 325-GH-304 as well as the 2-ball mount # 325-GH-031 included with the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 10K, part # 325-GH-314 are constructed of heavy duty steel. You can most definitely use other brand ball mounts, or any hitch mounted accessory with a 2 inch shank. In regard to the receivers, as you mentioned, three of the four are open, while the fourth has the shank welded to the back of it. Most Class...

  • What Dual Hitch Receiver Can I Use With A Winch And A Trailer With 10,000 lb Gross Trailer Weight
I do have a solution for you, but you will not be able to use any of the traditional dual hitch adapters, since these are designed primarily for flat towing. The Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver you linked to your question is unique, since it was designed for towing a trailer and carrying something like a bike rack. It has a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs. Not only is this significantly less the the 10,0000 lb gross vehicle weight of...

From your description it sounds like you are talking about the weldment that comes with the Buyers Products Adjustable Tri-Ball Hitch - Solid Shank # 3371802225 (see attached picture) which is part # 3373001727 and the Buyers Products Tri-Ball Hitch # 3371802208. • Is it Safe to Use MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender to Carry Bike Rack and Flat Tow a Jeep
Anytime a hitch extender like the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender is used it reduces the weight capacity of the trailer hitch it's installed into by 50%. The only way you can safely use it to the full capacity is if your trailer hitch is rated for 8,000 lbs towing and 800 lbs tongue. Since the hitch on your motorhome is rated at 5K that means when using this extender that is reduced to 2,500 lbs towing/250 lbs tongue. You are correct that Roadmaster does not make any dual hitch adapters that allow you to use your tow bar in-line with the hitch receiver. The best option available is the Gen-Y # 325-GH-303, which is a more economical alternative to the # 325-GH-314 adapter you were looking at. I really like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e23ZR for your 2019 Toyota RAV4 because it has a matte black finish that not only looks better but also has a more durable finish than the classic glossy black finish we see on all of the other trailer hitches. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver so it can easily be used for towing a trailer or hauling a bike rack. We have a solution for you but it isn't a dual receiver but rather a stacked receiver ball mount. This won't be an adapter so won't reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch like the adapter you asked about. If you have the Gen-Y Adjustable 2 Ball Mount # 325-GH-314 then you'll need these locks # 34061572-D. These will lock your balls to the mount and the mount to the hitch. Yes, it's not the cheapest lock but this isn't the cheapest ball mount. Someone could easily come and grab just the ball out of the mount and use it on their car and it would be just as easy, just a little bit heavier to take the whole ball mount with them. Actually, a Gen-Y ball mount, like part # 325-GH-314, is a great solution to level your flat tow setup for the Smart car and carry the cargo carrier. In addition to that, the tongue weight won't be a problem because there's virtually no tongue weight when flat towing. So you just need to worry about the cargo carrier and the cargo that's on it.
