Question:

Hello. I am pulling a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee ~5000 lbs. with the Blue Ox Avail attached to my Tiffin Allegro that has a 7500 lbs. towing capacity. I want to get a dual receiver to allow me to attach a bike carrier. However, any drop or rise for the towing receiver will exceed the max recommended offset indicated by Blue Ox I need to stay in line with my current receiver. The other dual receivers I see available are either not robust enough reduce my towing capacity for my current hitch, or not the proper dimensions. The Roadmaster RM-077-2 would be great because it is cheaper and retains my RV towing capacity, but as mentioned above I needed an in line receiver with my setup. The offset with the RM-077-2 is too much for my Blue Ox connections. Anyway, I believe this 325-GH-314 will work. My plan is to rotate it up and use the top receiver slot for my bike carrier. Am I heading in the right direction on this? Do you have a cheaper alternative whereby I can my Blue Ox into a receiver that is in line with my RV receiver, retain my 7500 lbs. towing capacity, and provide a receiver up top for my bike carrier? If not, and you believe this 325-GH-314 will work, I will go with it. Thanks for your help.

There are some great options out there for towing a vehicle behind your RV along with a bike rack, and you are heading in the right direction.

You are correct that Roadmaster does not make any dual hitch adapters that allow you to use your tow bar in-line with the hitch receiver. The best option available is the Gen-Y # 325-GH-303, which is a more economical alternative to the # 325-GH-314 adapter you were looking at. It also has the same 10,000 lb gross towing weight and 1,500 lb tongue weight capacity. Although it offers less height adjustment (5" maximum), it should be enough space to fit most hitch-mounted bike racks above your tow bar. Otherwise, if you need additional clearance for your bike rack, the # 325-GH-314 would be the way to go.

If you need a hitch-mounted bike rack, I recommend the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack # TH9058. This holds up to two bikes and installs easily into a 2" hitch receiver. Note that depending on the frame style of your bikes, you might need an adapter bar to use the bikes with the Thule hanging bike rack. I recommend the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005 which can extend from 24-3/8" - 33-3/4" and prevents scratches or other damage to your bike frame with its vinyl-coated hooks.
